It's no secret technique. All you have to do is make sure an enemy is within your planned shinespark's path. It'll kill just about anything. In fact, this is necessary to perform what's called the Blue Suit Glitch. Go on and look it up.
@MetroidGamer12 You didn't read the comment properly. The point is that coppatop said ''Spineshanking'' instead of ''Shinesparking''. Anyway, I'll look up that blue suit glitch.
The only thing I can think of is that it's a timing problem. Remember, your timing has to be PERFECT in order to get this done. Those times when the super missile hits the door but you stop is actually common in general, not just while trying to do this. When you open a door, the game makes it go through the door-opening animation. Only when the animation's done is the invisible wall removed (that wall being what keeps you from going through a door while it's closed). Sorry I can't help more.
I actually finally did it after I posted this. What happens the most often is that the door opens and I stop at it. Do you think that is because I am spineshanking too quickly (i.e. should I wait a split second after I fire instead to spineshank?) Or am I not doing it quick enough? The method I use is to jump and fire the super missle at the same time (hit x and a) then right after I fire, hit forward.
There needs to be an extremely short amount of time between when you fire and when you jump. The door opening without you going through it is, again, simply the game requiring the door to completely finish opening before allowing you to go through it.
Shorter answer: Yes, you are starting your shinespark just a tiny bit early.
I know the timing is hard to get down, but as long as you stand at the right place before shinesparking and your timing is done well, it'll work.
Just select the pause annotation in the annotations editor, tell it at what time it should be paused for how long. I set mine up so the text annotations appear half a second before the pause annotation starts and disappear half a second after it ends. Message me if you want more help.
i've been trying to do this for a few hours now ...driving me nuts... its crazy how you are able to dash faster than I can achieving the charge faster ...which does make a diffference.. timing on the super missile is insanely difficult
That faster dashing is the Quick Charge glitch, easily the simplest glitch to perform in the game. Just take your first couple steps without holding the dash button, then start holding it. It tricks the game into thinking you've been running for longer than you have, thus giving you the boost a split second early.
Too many automatic pauses

Lol coppatop said '' Spineshanking".
Is there a secret Metroid technique that allows you to Spineshank enemies? If someone can actually hack and make Samus do that, that would be awesome.
Haha :)

Also, sometimes the missle hits the door, and it opens, but I stop at it.

Hey metriod gamer, I am having some troubles with this.
Either what happens is my super missile hits the door, and it does NOT open, or the missile beats me there and doesn't even hit the door.
Any insights?

How do you make an annotation pause the vid?
