how did you remove the previous headstock decal? I'm just curious as I'm having fun modifying one of my old guitars (not trying to make it look like a gibson). Cheers!

Would have been easier and cheaper to just write Gibson on a piece of paper and tape it to the headstock.

But in doing this you took off the sg inlay on the headstock and are you going to bind the neck? I would have just replaced the electronics and added value to my epiphone instead of degrating it.

Hello man, I have a japanese gibson sg replica, wich actually says gibson on the hadstock and has the gibson headstock, but in my case it's a vintage guitar, and the headstock paint is shit now, it really looks like shit, I'm thinking on sanding it and re paint it again and put all those dacals again and all that shit, do you think it's a good idea?

@PiercingTruth Its wierd because there are two screw holes where the logo should be. I understand that it should be inlayed into the headstock.

I have a 60's Gibson bass except someone has taken the Gibson logo off the headstock. If I put a Gibson logo decal on it does that make it fake?

I'd rather buy a replacement headstock veneer and then cut the ugly headstock of which ever guitar you have, take it to the wood craftsman and do it propper way. This one is good i have to admit.

cool stuff but its still not right. I am just finsihing up a epiphone to gibson conversion within the next 2 days and its coming out perfect. doing a traditional 59 les paul headstock. filled in the tuning holes and drilled new lower ones. added the horns and shaved about a quarter inch off the top of the top of the headstock. using gibson les paul water decals. I am also refinishing the whole back of the guitar with nitro... its pretty much a gibby now - the long tennon truss rod.
