  • And mind you... does this sound have any "name"? I know I heard it in 8bit version often in some NES games so I suppose it has...

  • @mastachang69 oh I see, for that sound I used a Vsti called "Minimonsta", it's a Minimoog Simulation (a very famous or "classic" monosynth)

  • @mastachang69 it's a square wave for the most part (it's in between quare and saw waveforms in my song, but on the NES synth chip it would be just a square wave). The NES sound chip has a square, a triangle and a noise waveform (the noise one is for the drum sounds)

  • Hey the sound used for the melody in the first part... that's one of the sounds I always have in mind whenever hearing retarded douchebags complaining about how natural instruments sound "so much better" than any electronic sounds... This, and the half wind/string sound used by Dream Theater's continuum, and Pink Floyd too. If science can come up with harder materials than those naturally occuring in nature. then, you know the rest...

  • @mastachang69 true

I think you should just have it all, natural and synthetic sounds etc.

anyways, the sound in the very beginning is from Omnisphere, it was called something like "Glass bulbs", it's samlpled from plucked lighting bulbs + some extra layers of other sounds

  • Unbelievable... I did not even notice bulbs made a sound when plucked, or acutally the metal rim vibrating... the sounds I was thinking about are in YouTube video eTl-TAOMD18 (at 17 seconds is the pitch range where it sounds most alike). and even better for 8bit I guess, in video 0QrTvNl8NuQ The transitions sound less smooth and the envelope less deep, but to me it sounds quite similar... sounds having to do with something cyclic I guess...

  • The background flying by gave me a sensation of "cat on a keyboard in space..." Hilarious!

  • JUST FODA!!!

  • good melodies dude

  • that's dope.

  • You hear their having a sale on the axis-49 at C-thru Music? I think it's probably because of all of the press their getting from this contest, mostly your video. It's 10% off which is pretty significant, we'll see who takes advantage.

  • yes, I've seen it. I let some people on myspace know about it, since I got lots of messages there regarding what kind of keyboard this is etc.

  • You won?

  • yes, now what's left is the long wait until it arrives ;-)

  • WUnderbar. Du hast es dir ja verdient :D

Ich denke immer noch, dass dieses Stück dem Soundtrack von "Brüno" passen würde :P:P

  • not at all, with only a small handful of people entering the competition I'm glad they didn't call it off, and after all that hard work spamming i'm glad someone won!

I wonder if it helped their sales?, I mean between us all we only got about 40,000 views, which cost them roughly a grand, I hope they got it back.

  • I actually got at least 40 people replying to me that they want to buy one or that they are really interested in buying one, so I'm sure c-thru is the big winner

  • Well done!!!, now, I want to see a vid with the 64 as soon as you get it,.

  • you can be sure about that. Thank god it's over, I hope working against each other doesn't ruin the axis community.

  • I never get tired of watching this. Awesome!

  • haha, that final arp was great!

  • Fantastic. I want to buy your album! When will you release one?

  • thanks!

well, an album will take some more time. I hope I can manage to have enough songs sometime this year

  • I love this video.

  • That's great!!

  • Happy and Prosperous New Year 2010

  • Im Brian Seymour from myspace. Really cool song and good luck on your contest!

    ur friend from myspace Raquel

    this is so cool

    totally hope u win this!!!

    love

    God bless

  • WOW-that was friggin awesome...I want one too...good luck winning it btw.

  • SUPERAWESOME, DUDE!

  • Sounds good, but you can't call this D# Ionian with a sharp 5th degree. All you're playing is C harmonic minor. You even hold the V to i relationship in the chord progression.

  • bwa! You're right, just checked it. Got to change that. Well, when I played it I was thinking in D# Ionan ;-)

  • YEAH! is really amazing!

  • impresionante!!!!! amazing!!!!!!!!

  • No one on UnplugTUBE comes close with this thing!!! That is SLAMMIN'!!

    greetz - Haze - Racerxband

  • don't worry, I play the guitar mostly ;-)

  • awesome beat id like to hear that with a guitar behind it that would make it even better

  • that's fuckin pretty bro... keep it up!

  • Very cool man! keep on rocking! or electrorocking! ;-)

  • coooool!

  • beastly skill

  • I love the instrument you used in the second part of the song. It has a lot of depth to it! I wish I could use those kind of instruments in my songs.

  • that one is actually a free vst plugin, just google superwavesynths

    it's the superwave P8

  • I notice that some of the filters applied grow and decrease in intensity in a sort of sine-wave pattern in sync with the song. Did you apply that yourself, or is it an adjustable parameter? I may not be familiar with the type of instrument, though I know how DSLs work.

  • you run the vst plugin in the DAW (like Cubase, Reason etc.) and the sync is taken from the DAW.

you can adjust the LFOs to a "rate" or to "beat" where you can set a note value like 1/4 or 1/8 and so on

  • Thanks for the tips. :) By the way, I am addicted to this song! You should extend it.

  • ganz schön schwul!

  • Na warte! Freu dich auf's nächste Guitar vs. Drum Rock-off, ich sag nur wer zuletzt lacht ;-)

  • lol this is something for Brueno!

  • supi, damit wir auch die witzigen comments vom vorherigen Video zusammen haben

  • Awesome!

  • looks like fun!

  • whaooo!
