BTW your guinea pig is extremely cute! And, now I get why you used dish soap. Do you know exactly where the grease gland is, because it sounds important to clean, but I've never heard of it before, and I don't think I've washed my guinea pigs there. :)

you might like to know that baby shampoo is also excellent for guinea pigs, but dish soap probably is too strong and different from body soaps. Just to be helpful. :)

@Carlvideos66 yeah, I use it, but you have to make sure it is mild and gentle, and that you don't leave any in his fur after you take your guinea pig out of the bath because it can really dry his/her skin if left in. :)

Guinea pigs need the greace gland. In the himalayas where guinea pigs are raised to eat food scraps, i doubt their pigs ever see the light of water yet the still live full 8 years.

You should NOT use dawn or other chemicle cleaners to clean the grease gland. They are too drying. You should use an oil to get rid of a grease. Coconut oil is fantastic and it is natural so its non drying AND ediible!!! then you don't have to bathe your piggy. Just take a tooth brush with a bit on it and brush the spot (its not the butt is on the spine where his tail would be) in the direction of the hair. Don't use too much as you will have to wash your piggy...

aww, he sat very still compared to a cat!
