  • @Tigerlily21 problem with you claim that it is all "makeup, hair stylists and lighting" is that bette davis once reportedly said "After 4 hours of make-up I once thought I looked acceptable, then again, Veronica Lake just rolls out of bed and looks like God just finished off his masterpiece"

  • OMG HER FACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    BREATH TAKING

  • ...I♥

  • I remember as a kid in the 50's having a huge crush on her. I'd watch the TV listings to see if her movies were on.

The last time I saw her was on "To Tell The Truth" as the mystery guest . I forget the year but I think she was in her 80's.

  • @Chuck41148 Veronica Lake was just 50 years old when she died. Born in 1922 and died in 1973 shy of her 51st birthday of hepatitis C. Also sad is the fact she had been broke for years and was working as a bartender in a cheap New York City hotel. A movie critic heard about it and it got back to Marlon Brando who sent her a check for 1,000 dollars. But Lake had pride and only framed it and put it on the wall.

  • Excellent music, classy and wonderfull woman, what can you possibly want more?

  • hehe I love this song, played it when I was doing grade 3 (looong time ago). And Veronica is just awesome :D

  • Ava Gardner said to Lake: "With a face and figure like yours you could start a war." Lake replied: "I believe we are at war; the question is, can a face and figure like mine stop it?" Veronica Lake is said to have been so disarmingly beautiful that she looked as if she had been preserved on ice before each scene: her skin, hair, eyes - everything was peerless. As for height, it's a moot point: she was proportioned to perfection, and she killed taller women with just her face alone.

  • @Sirgreaseflick I dont' agree that she was so disarmingly beautiful. Take away the hair and just look at the face and she would be nothing next to Ava Gardner. Ofcourse she looked preseved on ice because in those days they had the best makeup, hair stylists and lighting to make the actresses look like a million bucks. If she were around today with stringy hair, people wouldn't give her a second look.

  • @Tigerlily21 I think you need to see the photo of her in Life magazine, with her hair up in braids,no makeup, and the most beautiful smile you'll ever see.

  • Dunno if anyone cares but i still think the best version of this song is by Ray Bryant. But really i was checking out the dame so whatever is clever.

  • @TheManInDboX omfg ive never heard this version before I'm listening to it in now its amazing

  • Great tribute & perfect song. Thanks for your effort.

  • the last picture's awesome......

    she was so lovely!!!!!

  • This is Duke Ellington's piece. I remember reading something that Richard Pryor wrote about the Satin Doll was actually a stripper. Who knows if it was true or not. Might be interesting to find out who it was if it was true!

If you are a Veronica Lake fan, try renting "I Married a Witch"...I believe that's the movie. It's quite charming.

  • @Jazsngr She was indeed. She owns the Satin Doll Lounge in Milwaukee. She's still very much alive and has pictures of her and Duke and Richard inside her bar.

  • You did suchh an impeccable job on this video! love you beautifuL Veronica <3

  • one very good version...

  • Have you seen this video called " Gene Kelly\Cid|Charisse Opening A Colorful show" from Breton2Robert. WOW and the ending is crazy

  • Does anyone know who is performing this particular version of Satin Doll?

  • yes, i'd like to know it too...

  • @ShiftlessDan, it's Hennie Becker.

  • @ShiftlessDan

I don't think it is by Veronica Lake as stated. This sounds like perhaps Duke Ellington I think.

I am trying to find out. I have this copy on my Ipod listed as Veronica Lake.

    But I think it's wrong...

  • Great video. Veronica Lake was the best. Is the song Satin Doll by Duke Ellington?

  • Nicely done. I think the star quality has faded considerably over the years. We have nothing like her now. The leading men are sorely lacking as well.

  • Kirsten Dunst' looks like Veronica Lake.. don't you think so? In the eyes and the nose

  • umm sorry but no, kirsten is very pretty but comes nowhere near Veronica...

  • What a beautiful being. Oh for those wonderful years gone by. Class, Real class.. : -)))) Peace and Love!!

  • beautiful Veronica, and the song "Satin Doll" is a very fitting piece of music for her! Thanks for posting!!!

  • She was so scrumptious!

  • Great job !!

  • nice tribute video :) btw what's the name of the song used in it?

  • "Satin Doll".

  • Good Tribute to a Beautiful Lady of a Golden Era. Great choice in Song as well. The Duke.

  • She and Alan Ladd were so gorgeous together, and fine actors too. So sad that their lives ended so unhappily. At least we have their films and these great images to appreciate. Great video!

  • Love it!Great song choice too.

  • the Duke for that enchanting Duchess.

  • She had such class, she was so unique. I heard she declined completely forgotten working as a maid ! How terrible, I hope it was not true !

Saw most of her film with her greatest partner:

    Unforgotten Alan Lad.

  • she was lovely

  • Classy chassis!!!

  • Wonderful tribute, love the music too!

  • Great Job!

  • she was a great star!good job!
