He also made a few guide on how to build them. However, the police slammed the book on him hard as hell... He wasn't even legible for parole for the 5 years he had to serve.

The build quality is actually quite low coming out of most of these little machine shops. A lot of these AKs end up in Afghanistan, sold to folks who don't know any better. Most are woefully out of spec and not properly heat treated so it's just a matter of time till it falls apart or suffers a CATASTROPHIC failure, i.e. explosion!

I would say the majority of what is shown in this video was produced in factories in China and Pakistan also Russia. I am quite impressed if they made the pistol frames in this clip. However if you are making guns to fight a war you make rifles and SMG's like the Sten and the UZI which are quicker to make than a pistol and of far more use. So this looks like propaganda to me.
