Brian´s waltz. Well, anything and everything and whatever. Brian´s the Boss. It doesn´t matter what rhythm changes, chord changes... Even Frank Zappa told the public, that Brian Wilson was the first guy who made progressive rock. Jon Anderson of Yes, Kerry Livgren of Kansas and bassplayer Jaco Pastorius of Weather Report has has stated the same. What more can I say. Brian´s got only one ear, but a Zillion ears in his heart and soul.
@DoGeeseSeeGod24 Sure could be from a Friends session. 20/20 was really a collection of songs from lots of different sessions scattered over about a three-year period rather than an album put together with some kind of intention. But as you say, it sure has a Friends feel to it.
Holy christmas! Another proof of Brian Wilsons amazing gift for writing amazing songs - even recovering from / during his nervous breakdown. That man is a genious!
Melinda, Jeffrey F. and the gang putting a leash on poor Brian while he was in the middle of a major fit of depression and forcing him to "finish" "SMiLE" (which can never be accomplished) by setting a concert deadline for it and throwing the poor guy on stage.. do or die... c'mon.. talk about surfing the chaos, my brother. That travesty they created was, at best, a poor imitation of SMiLE" bootlegs. "SMiLE" will never be finished. Deal with it.
I know we'll never see the SMiLE that was originally intended in 1967. I'm just saying you don't need to insult it. Even Smiley Smile, which I'm assuming is what you're referring to as the poor imitation, was a good album. And the 2003 SMiLE album was good as well.

Brian, who will be your musical heir? Please don't say Sean Lennon ;)

This song sounds much more like Friends than 20/20.

There's more magic in this one simple song, than in all of "SMiLE".

Come on dude. This is a good song, but there's no reason to insult SMiLE.

Really beautiful little song. Probably could have been expanded into a larger idea, but this just makes for a killer album track.
