Sick of people comparing Ricky to Nash. Ricky Rubio is the new, first and only Ricky Rubio. Despite that, I believe Rubio´s gamestyle is more similar to John Stockton´s than to Steve Nash´s. Nash is 1 of the best passers today, but he´s also a very good shooter. Rubio plays more like Stockton in two aspects... Both have a great vision of the game, amazing assists, but also very good defenders... Nash not so good defending but better shooter.
Everyone says im crazy when i say this but Dwight should consider going to Minnesota, a future point guard in Rubio, a 2 guard in Wesley Johnson, SF in Derrick Williams and an all star power forward in Love, it will be a rap for years to come, Im a magic fan and I say going to the wolves would be a great move
@EAG0917 Why would he go to Minnesota, it's a small market, and cities like LA, NY, Orlando, Miami etc attract NBA super-stars because they're big market cities.
@EAG0917 Yea but Kevin Love and Dwight Howard on the PF and C is bad chemistry i think.. Both needs to get their 15 boards per game to score and they won't get that if Dwight goes to Wolves.
PG doesn't need to make a higher scores than teammates. So, Rubio's needs to create a chance for teammates. Even sometimes he had a chance to make a shot, he didn't. I think he has done a good job for his position.
I am honestly surprised at how well he has adapted to the NBA. NBA teams I guess you should also try signing diamantidis. He's a better passer shooter and play maker though not that good at stealing the ball and much less athletic and coordinated than rubio, but it now seems this sort of thing can survive in the nba.
I think Rubio is great and he makes his teammates better. Reminds me when Nash turned Diaw into an Allstar Snub from being an IR guy. I think Rubio will really impact Wayne Ellingtons game in the same way. Look for him to really play alot better and add a little swag in his step this year. Good PGs like this should be the norm. Everyone else should play wing or post. Just saying
@raytsaichannel You might be right about that. He has some good weapons around him that can shoot this season but your right if he develops that part of his game skys the limit
@xxSAGACITYxx I was just was thinking if his teammates are not having a good shooting game, he'll be able to step up and be offensive, which makes him more versatile
I won't say that watching team basketball is funner than 1 on 1 basketball. They both have their positives from a viewer's standpoint. Rose is just as much fun to watch spinning through the lane as Rubio is whipping a pass to a wide open dunker. However, I DO think the comparisons to Nash are valid. Kidd was a great passer, but he wasn't quite the creative whiz Rube and Nash are. He combined Rose's driving power with the passing of, say Stockton. Plus, Kidd wasn't the best shooter, like R and N.
Don't know why people are always comparing Rubio to Nash. He's lookin' more like Jason Kidd to me than Nash as he plays great defense, unlike Nash whose defense is mediocre.
Rubio is already establishing himself as an elite point guard, the way he finds open teammates is absolutely ridiculous, I love watching this guy play
Ricky Rubio will be the best passer in NBA, perhaps hes yet the best, hes better than Nash was in his 21, is strange he shoot better under presure, this mean he could be a great shooter
@CARLOSGURO Nash is a wine player, he was better around his older years than he was compared to his younger years but i gotta admit rubio is really nash-y in terms of style but i still pick nash over rubio in terms of passing and scoring. Rubio will be an all star and i hope he wins rookie of the year. He deserves it more than anyone else this season in my opinion.
@CARLOSGURO To be fair Nash was coming off the bench and never had the chance to shine while the Timberwolves are such a fucking terrible team that Rubio was able to get more minutes and the starter position almost immediately.
If Nash was starting his rookie year he'd be doing just as well if not better than Rubio is right now.
@murphy3162 Nash improved his basketball training, Nash didn´t had the level of Rubio,Rubio play profesionaly since his 14 years old, is a genius and champion with spain have a silver medal too...maybe rubio never shoot like Nash but he can assist like Nash and his defense is better.
@esTebanLRD Uh I'm guessing you're from Spain which explains your slobbering all over Rubio's knob, so instead of launching into a rant about how you're completely fucking wrong about Nash I'm just going to say enjoy watching Spain get the living shit kicked out of it again by the US men's Olympic basketball team
@murphy3162 ....USA won the gold with the help of referees...travel every time, and was a equilibrated game.I´m not from Spain, I´m from Barcelona, you need learn about the difference.
@esTebanLRD Oh my God, you're the worst kind of fan, the one that just loves his team so much that he can't accept that there are better teams out there.
And no there isn't a difference between Spain and Barcelona, deal with it.
@TheNoReAs0N I think it's funny how you call me kid, since outside of Europe no child in the world has a fucking clue what Barcelona even is. That's something you learn about when you're an adult and start learning about other nations than your own.
At any rate, they don't call it Barcelonish, they call it Spanish, so fuck yourself.
I'm not much of a fan of Rubio, but Love is a beast. Numerically, he is a better center/PF than Dwight Howard. It's a shame over half the seats are empty.
Once Rubio an Derrick become comfortable with one another they are gonna be a pretty deadly combo throw Kevin Love into that mix you got a pretty good team in a few years
Also, I've never seen Rose make an alley-oop while penetrating. It's sick how Rubio can be driving to the basketball with his right, but still get the timing right on an alley-oop. That is so absurdly hard to do.
Rubio makes each of his teammates a viable threat to score. Rose uses his teammates as a secondary weapon after he's failed to penetrate. So while Rose is unequivocally the better scorer, Rubio brings the absolute best out of his teammates. Honestly, I wish there were more players like Ricky Rubio. He makes basketball a team game, and it's so much more to watch intelligent basketball on display.
@jml235 I suggest you should maybe watch a bulls game and hear what his coaches have to say about him. Rose not only runs the Chicago offense but he leads the team in both assists and scoring. Hes not this shoot first pass last player you make him out to be, hes always looking for his team mates and makes sure everyone gets involved just like Rubio. He sees the floor and can pass very well just like Rubio.
@pac6010 Dude, I love the Bulls and I want to agree with you, but I can't. Rose has awesome defense, awesome ability to penetrate. He is NOT a pass-first point guard. Don't listen to the coaches, trust your eyeballs. Every time he penetrates, 2 (sometimes 3!) people collapse on him, and he makes an acrobatic lay-up. Look around him, there's usually at least 1 guy standing right underneath the basket. Rubio makes that pass, Rose only does it if he thinks he's going to miss.
@jml235 I can totally understand why you say that because that was his M.O. last year, mostly because everyone was injured. Watch this season at how hes playing though, hes making an effort to get everyone involved, especially boozer on the pick and roll. Plus hes added a killer 3 point game which means you can't play back off him, you have to double team. Hes still likes to drive, now he just kicks it out or makes an interior pass. Btw he averages 8.3 assets per game for his career
@pac6010 Fair enough, I have been judging him more from last season, haven't really paid attention to this season since it started late. I'll keep an open eye for those Rose passes.
@jml235 This happen because european basket is diifferent to american basket, Ricky Rubio is the example of european basketball, Derrick Rose is the example of american basketball
@jml235 I'm a fan of both and I think it's a little off/unfair to compare the two players based on their positions (pg) alone.
Rose = scoring PG and Rubio = pass first PG.
Rose tends to concentrate more on scoring bec. he is the first option for the Bulls' offense. Coaches take advantages of their players' strengths and make plays out of it.
It's the coaches plays that mostly molds a player into his type of game. Rose was asked to score more and Rubio to distribute.
Rose and Rubio are two COMPLETELY different players, their only similarity is the PG position. Not really even fair to compare em. Rubio is pass first cause he can make those amazing passes, DRose is score first because he is unstoppable when he gets into the paint, D Rose will either score or get the foul in there.
@shad0w12346 yeah but because of a point guard's job to be to run the offense, Rose seems like he'd be more at home in the 2 spot rather than playing the 1. Rose doesn't seem to get his teammates involved that much or run the offense as well as he should because his first thought is scoring. He's a lot like Kobe in that regard.
Not all passes are created equal, gentlemen. What makes Ricky Rubio better than D.Rose and Westbrook isn't how he's getting it to them, (which is still fun to watch, btw), it's that he gets the ball to them where they can take a high percentage shot. You know the percentage shot of an alley oop? It's like 99% if you put it in the right place.
Another thing is where where Rubio's passes hits his teammates low and by the waist so they can take a quick shot. D.Rose does not do this.
i had to admit i thought he was all hype before he showed up in the league. the kid is an amazing passer. all he needs right now is the ability to knock down outside shots consistently and to lock down other guards on the perimeter. the later might be the greatest challenge for him because he's not the most athletic.
Rubio > Lin

@pac6010 Fair enough, I have been judging him more from last season, haven't really paid attention to this season since it started late. I'll keep an open eye for those Rose passes.

@jml235 This happen because european basket is diifferent to american basket, Ricky Rubio is the example of european basketball, Derrick Rose is the example of american basketball

@jml235 a john stockton of this time and era, except rubio is a lil more flashy but definitely a pass first point guard
Nikoh04 1 month ago
@jml235 I'm a fan of both and I think it's a little off/unfair to compare the two players based on their positions (pg) alone.
Rose = scoring PG and Rubio = pass first PG.
Rose tends to concentrate more on scoring bec. he is the first option for the Bulls' offense. Coaches take advantages of their players' strengths and make plays out of it.
It's the coaches plays that mostly molds a player into his type of game. Rose was asked to score more and Rubio to distribute.

@jml235

@shad0w12346 Rose is a combo guard is easy.

D.Rose does not do this.

i had to admit i thought he was all hype before he showed up in the league. the kid is an amazing passer. all he needs right now is the ability to knock down outside shots consistently and to lock down other guards on the perimeter. the later might be the greatest challenge for him because he's not the most athletic.
shohokuslamdunk 1 month ago
@shohokuslamdunk his release is very slow, so if he could improve that then he'd be real good.
