I had a "cce vg 9000" and played this game. But it was called 1944, and it had a great bug that was never fixed. The plane was "1234" characters. Some enemy planes looked like squares of changing colors. Its was a kind of great level of abstraction... lol. This "back and forward" move would realease a bolt that destroys all planes on the screen. The bosses vessels where really like the "Yamato battleship". Thanks for the vid.

@hdhiwv1 lolno. James Bond 007 for the Commodore 64 is their first game. Hell, Commando came out before this. This WAS, however, their first NES game.

I hated this stupid game! The music is stil in my head although the emu does a pretty awful job at emulating the sound.

This game is pretty good. You need some skill to beat this on console. I have the arcade version on Capcom Classics Vol 1. Unlimited continues there. The sound on this version of 1942 is just plain annoying.

I remember playing this. I also remember almost breaking my controllers because of the button mashing.
