hey man i have a stock sti 2005 with almost the same set up with the front mount intercooler/exhaust/uppipe-downpipe injen cold air intake etc. was a boost controller used to do your tune? i have the apexi avcr boost controller installed and i'm wondering if i can achieve this kind of performance with my stock settings. alternatively, i have a cobb access port also but i'm hesitant to use both simultaneously (currently at waste gate pressure- stock ecu settings/factory tune)

I don't entirely agree with this, I am yet to see any German fail as I own one and my father has owned 4 German cars which have had no issues. Yes you do pay alot of money for the brand but it's only once you get used to them that you realise how much engineering goes into them. 20 psi? u should be border line of maxing out ur vf39. personally i like the 43, less likely to crack, and slightly larger waste gate opening to take care of those boost control issues. lol i dnt even own a car yet but im literally obsessed with scoobys and im getting an 05 rex in late december of this year. Hes got about 3500+ in it. FMIC is about 1k. Full exhaust is at least 1K. Intake and custom tune is another grand. Not to mention the misc stuff like mounts / gauges he might have.
With those mods that i mentioned earlier your looking at about 315whp depending on the dyno of course. Your looking at high 12 sec 1/4 miles. Thats about 60 extra horses. Stock sti's hit 60 in about 5 seconds so yeah with about 3500 bucks you can be around 1.5 sec faster.

right well ov couse supra own subarus they have a higher capacity for torque and horsepower. as bigger turbo can be put on them, more aerodynamic. lower to the groud...but no much can be said for your beamer....not much of a car if you ask me...you are really just paying for the name history. the older cars are much better than the newer ones out now anyway. STI will make you run for your money. trust me there will b a time when you will race ans STI and you will regret the day when you do that
An STI is not cheap especially after modding it & then insurance is outrageous, but it's fast & will smoke supras around town & even up 2 highway speeds on acceleration...ok above 100mph with a Supra Twin Turbo may be a different story, but racing at those speeds is time n jail & not just a huge ticket ! O & STIs r 4 rally racing anyway..ever seen a Supra or M3 perform on dirt tracks..I rest my case..STIs rule ! O by the way I have already embarrassed plenty of M3s & they r not that great..
Depends on what kind of mods are done...Stock Supra VR4s have only ok acceleration compared to the STIs with all wheel drive which launch quick. I agree once up to about 100mph the supra VR4 will catch up, but around town the STI will dominate & they handle better. Also the Supras have poor traction which & r more likely 2 wheel spin. 7 Second Supras r usually modded to hell, gutted, and have slicks which r illegal on the street, & an STi can be raced on offroad tracks which r fun !
One last thing, the STI is very cheap, especially compared to the M3 and other cars. What other car can you get as quick for under £25000. Thats what they cost...
Hmmm $35,000 U.S plus $3,500 for tuning and mods...for a faster accellerating car that can also be raced off road seems like a better deal than spending $78,500 U.S. on a slower stock M3 and I'm sure modding that german car up to the point it can catch my STI ain't cheap either...Subaru got it right...case closed ! ! !

2009 Lotus Exige is a Tiny bucket and it says it lists for $65,000 US Dollars retail. Subaru has a better AWD system than any around...it is true AWD and thats FACT buddy. 5-6 seconds is average nowadays, but I'm sure that an X5 will smoke your car anyway ! My 2005 STI gets compliments all the time so time for you to go car shopping !

Go get an STI...you can get a used one under $20 grand now...I personally don't like the new hatchback style started in 2008. You also might be able to get it already modded. High horsepower Z28s start to loose traction too easily and need slicks ! With AWD you can take off hard even in the rain and get good mileage to boot ! An STI will kill a Z28 anyway ..I've even beat a newer model vette with exhaust mods at the track.
Not bad at all, of course your stock turbo is what a VF34? If memory serves correct that is what the STi's have stock. I have an 03 WRX for you to race :D Just a little turbo upgrade and new TMIC is all I got, think you can take me? :)
VF39 stock turbo...from your acceleration run on your speedo it looks like we are about evenquarter mile....I think it would be a pretty good race, but if we continued past the quarter mile I would take ya... 2.5 liter motor : )
Actually that run was before I got my car fully tuned on my Accessport. I run faster than that now that was when I had 10psi and I ran like 12.3 or 12.4 in the 1/4. I run 11.73 and 122mph now. What are you running. And the 2.5L motor doesn't necessarily mean that you will win in the top end. I beat plenty of STi's but I am running a GT30R turbo set up now with 400whp and 435lb ft of torque.
I have no idea what I'm running....it greatly depends on the driver. I believe the tuner said high elevens are possible with my setup, but I think low 12s. But I've heard stock STIs with the right driver can go 11s so who knows...I had a 2005 cobb tuned wrx before my STI and believe me the 2.5 liter motor keeps going when the 2.0 starts to slow down at higher speeds...The STis you beat also probably didn't have 21lbs of boost :-)
Yeah I have heard that they can get high 11's on stock turbo BUT you don't get much life out of them at that point. And really you shouldn't run more than 18psi on stock internals. The pistons and heads just can't really handle all that much pressure. Alot of places will try to tell you that you need to crank up the boost but that isn't the case. For example I run 18psi on a GT30R set up and my friend had 25psi on stock turbo sti with supporting mods. And I left him in the dust!!! :)
Well you can see my acceleration with a 3500rpm launch so high 11s are a possibility I think with a harder launch. You won't leave me in the dust I guarantee it. It would be close, but in the end I think the bigger motor would get ya : ) Oh and an FP red is in my future around Christmas....I can't wait !!!

This launch is real. I tuned my STI today to do exactly this - ~3000-3500RPM launch from standstill. I know most STI owners will not believe this. Yet it is possible to tune for a lot of torque down low even with a much bigger turbo than stock and I will be the first to confirm that this and scsti2005's other video shows and proves that with a proper tune the STI can be launched at 3000-3500 RPM.
Most of it was already done when I bought the car. I actually added a high flow cat to the exhaust to quiet it down(it was too loud !) and had it protuned after NGK plugs/high flow fuel pump were installed after I bought the car. The protune/ecutek program and dynotime was around $800.00 I believe...can't remember exactly. It already had the full downpipe exhaust,uppipe, FM intercooler, and intake which wasn't cheap for the previous owner. You gotta pay to play !!
I timed it 3 times and got 3.6 sec. But the speedometers can be off, mine is, or my accessport is off. But either way definatly under 4 seconds. Nice vid.
Thanks. The speedo on my sti is on definitely right on the money. I checked it against one of those radar signs(your speed is) a few weeks ago and it read perfect. I am glad it is accurate though because I had a normal wrx before I moved up to my sti and the one on that wrx wasn't on so I guess subaru got it right on this one.

No, this was not a 100mph run (response to Digitalfiends). This run was to about 6900 RPM. However, at exactly 7000 RPM you're going exactly 100 mph in a 2004-2006 STI. Unless you change the actual tire diameter or gearing. FYI.
This is a helluva fast car. Stage II on an STI does real wonders if tuned right, and all on a stock turbo too.

Hes got about 3500+ in it. FMIC is about 1k. Full exhaust is at least 1K. Intake and custom tune is another grand. Not to mention the misc stuff like mounts / gauges he might have.

With those mods that i mentioned earlier your looking at about 315whp depending on the dyno of course. Your looking at high 12 sec 1/4 miles. Thats about 60 extra horses. Stock sti's hit 60 in about 5 seconds so yeah with about 3500 bucks you can be around 1.5 sec faster.

right well ov couse supra own subarus they have a higher capacity for torque and horsepower. as bigger turbo can be put on them, more aerodynamic. lower to the groud...but no much can be said for your beamer....not much of a car if you ask me...you are really just paying for the name history. the older cars are much better than the newer ones out now anyway. STI will make you run for your money. trust me there will b a time when you will race ans STI and you will regret the day when you do that

An STI is not cheap especially after modding it & then insurance is outrageous, but it's fast & will smoke supras around town & even up 2 highway speeds on acceleration...ok above 100mph with a Supra Twin Turbo may be a different story, but racing at those speeds is time n jail & not just a huge ticket ! O & STIs r 4 rally racing anyway..ever seen a Supra or M3 perform on dirt tracks..I rest my case..STIs rule ! O by the way I have already embarrassed plenty of M3s & they r not that great..

Depends on what kind of mods are done...Stock Supra VR4s have only ok acceleration compared to the STIs with all wheel drive which launch quick. I agree once up to about 100mph the supra VR4 will catch up, but around town the STI will dominate & they handle better. Also the Supras have poor traction which & r more likely 2 wheel spin. 7 Second Supras r usually modded to hell, gutted, and have slicks which r illegal on the street, & an STi can be raced on offroad tracks which r fun !

Also, the exige would absolutely hammer your car on the track, its one of the best handeling cars in the world. It leaves ferraris and porches for dust on the track. It's literally a go-kart with a 200 bhp engine in a 900kg car.

Go get an STI...you can get a used one under $20 grand now...I personally don't like the new hatchback style started in 2008. You also might be able to get it already modded. High horsepower Z28s start to loose traction too easily and need slicks ! With AWD you can take off hard even in the rain and get good mileage to boot ! An STI will kill a Z28 anyway ..I've even beat a newer model vette with exhaust mods at the track.

Actually that run was before I got my car fully tuned on my Accessport. I run faster than that now that was when I had 10psi and I ran like 12.3 or 12.4 in the 1/4. I run 11.73 and 122mph now. What are you running. And the 2.5L motor doesn't necessarily mean that you will win in the top end. I beat plenty of STi's but I am running a GT30R turbo set up now with 400whp and 435lb ft of torque.

I have no idea what I'm running....it greatly depends on the driver. I believe the tuner said high elevens are possible with my setup, but I think low 12s. But I've heard stock STIs with the right driver can go 11s so who knows...I had a 2005 cobb tuned wrx before my STI and believe me the 2.5 liter motor keeps going when the 2.0 starts to slow down at higher speeds...The STis you beat also probably didn't have 21lbs of boost :-)

Yeah I have heard that they can get high 11's on stock turbo BUT you don't get much life out of them at that point. And really you shouldn't run more than 18psi on stock internals. The pistons and heads just can't really handle all that much pressure. Alot of places will try to tell you that you need to crank up the boost but that isn't the case. For example I run 18psi on a GT30R set up and my friend had 25psi on stock turbo sti with supporting mods. And I left him in the dust!!! :)

Well you can see my acceleration with a 3500rpm launch so high 11s are a possibility I think with a harder launch. You won't leave me in the dust I guarantee it. It would be close, but in the end I think the bigger motor would get ya : ) Oh and an FP red is in my future around Christmas....I can't wait !!!

Well yeah I think that we are just going to keep talking shit back and forth lol. Also head and cam work is in the near future for my car too. And once that happens EH not so worried about the FP Red. But also that acceleration vid that you see of my car was on my street tune. I was only running 10psi Now I am running 18psi. So it is alot different. And when it comes to 4 cylinder turbo bigger motor isn't a big deal. Plus I make over 400ft lbs of torque lol.

This launch is real. I tuned my STI today to do exactly this - ~3000-3500RPM launch from standstill. I know most STI owners will not believe this. Yet it is possible to tune for a lot of torque down low even with a much bigger turbo than stock and I will be the first to confirm that this and scsti2005's other video shows and proves that with a proper tune the STI can be launched at 3000-3500 RPM.

Most of it was already done when I bought the car. I actually added a high flow cat to the exhaust to quiet it down(it was too loud !) and had it protuned after NGK plugs/high flow fuel pump were installed after I bought the car. The protune/ecutek program and dynotime was around $800.00 I believe...can't remember exactly. It already had the full downpipe exhaust,uppipe, FM intercooler, and intake which wasn't cheap for the previous owner. You gotta pay to play !!

Thanks. The speedo on my sti is on definitely right on the money. I checked it against one of those radar signs(your speed is) a few weeks ago and it read perfect. I am glad it is accurate though because I had a normal wrx before I moved up to my sti and the one on that wrx wasn't on so I guess subaru got it right on this one.

He needs the 07 gears and an 8K rev limit. I am able to hit 96 mph at the top of third, and 130 at the top of 4th.

No, this was not a 100mph run (response to Digitalfiends). This run was to about 6900 RPM. However, at exactly 7000 RPM you're going exactly 100 mph in a 2004-2006 STI. Unless you change the actual tire diameter or gearing. FYI.
This is a helluva fast car. Stage II on an STI does real wonders if tuned right, and all on a stock turbo too.

STI rice ? I think not. It is a rally car and why do you bring up affordability. I bought it for performance and handling. I actually traded in a mustang cobra for it and am glad I did. I now have a faster car with no wheelspin. Save your pennies man !!

Fun..yes maybe, but in a race u want to go and not spin and I disagree on your perception of rice. You going to call a Nissan GT-R rice because its japanese ?? I didn't think so. Same principle with an STI. I agree with biggydave07....you must just be hatin!

STi is by no means rice. 1995 Eclipse with 40 inch exhaust is rice. Old honda civic that sounds like bees is rice. STi is not rice. And if any japanese car is rice what about GT-R, NSX, Evo etc.? are those all rice too?

also nice car. i've got an 05 sti but it's not that fast! i'm just stage 1 with cobb intake, cobb pulley and short shifter

You'll love it even more with downpipe exhaust and stage 2 then protune and up that boost. I'm thinking about getting a bigger turbo too which would be night and day !
