  • you need a control. This experiment is void. waste of scientific minds.

  • @jaml311 YOUR A WASTE OF SCIENTIFIC MINDS!

  • this is stupid

The blood test obviously interferes with people's reaction to the wedding, or at least invalidates their results.

  • So you think it's a coincidence that the biggest changes were in the bride and groom then their close family and then their friends. Seems like a pretty strong corrolation between how well people know them and how their blood changes. It looks like any interference is pretty negligable.

  • it's people like this that makes our future bright!

  • I like the look on the grooms face when they kiss while the narrator is talking about his increase testosterome. The groom is gonna be a happy guy that night!:) All the best to them!

  • He certainly is "thinking about the honeymoon"!

  • I do not want to lose my high testosterone level =(

  • Too bad, its going down right now.

  • lol fucking weird

  • the info is good the title is stupid.

  • do the same study on a gay union 2 C witch one has the testosterone and witch one has the estrogen ha

  • go and do the same at a funeral - let's see the differences

  • hehehe, funny

  • Agreed - its another time for bonding

  • hanga73, Yes, a funeral study would be interesting. Probably, depression symptoms might be observed.

A similar study of people in their work environment might be insightful too!

  • Rubbish. His testosterone spiked because of his fight or flight instincts kicking in from the realisation that'd he'd be pounding the same pussy for the rest of this life. And only once a week... if he's lucky, and if he's been good. He voluntarily put himself in the position of: no sex, no escape. My testestone would go through the roof too.

  • Nah - his testosterone leaps 'cos he knows what's gonna happen tonight...

  • how do you know it didn't happen before? :)

  • I WANT THIS WOMEN DEAD

  • Ok, now do the same study with same-sex weddings.

  • Good one!! :P

  • Why

  • union k

  • I bet they found high levels of cortisol and alcohol in the groom's blood

  • Did they find "soul" evidence? I guess we have no souls.

  • and isnt that cute that even the researchers where dressed for the occation?

  • would have been interesting if the testosterone levels of the groom's friends were higher than the groom.. before and after the wedding afternoon delight?? (sick world.. i know)

  • a little bit of wam bam thank you mam?

  • That bride was a very good sport to allow blood to be drawn from the wedding party before and after the ceremony.

I still have to wonder if six years from now, the happy couple will be having a spirited "discussion" about something like household bills, and the wife will blurt out some accusation that the husband was less hormonally invested in the wedding than the bride's mom of the groom's dad.

  • Kinda interesting actually.

  • Wow, the groom is fourth in emotional change, lol.

  • No, because weddings are boring and I hate going on them.

  • @systat i just got back from a wedding ... they're boring as fuck

  • He knew he was getting some that night

  • ROFL at the transcription

  • *he also failed* OMG I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING

  • me too lol

  • why are people complaining about her voice? i don't thik she can hear you over that loud pitch.

  • @Maracachucho So, unsubscribe then.

  • LOL hahaah mine would have probably have doubled that day to hehe. Its interesting though. I would say it was a successful test of peoples emotions on a joyous occasion.

  • Isn't oxytocin used to speed up child birth when a woman is having a hard time delivering?!?!?!?!!?

  • he also failed- lol

  • naked men that invited researchers of back to the lab to take blood samples and and their gas- LOL

  • Thaaaat.... vooooooooice.... Urgh.

  • @scytheboy So, unsubscribe then.

  • >implying I'm the only one who thinks this

  • it would have been funny if from measuring testosterone levels of random guests, they find a few guys that have the hots for his wife!

  • thinkin bout that honeymoon, eh? ; )

    i hear ya brother.

  • what's "geek" about that...?

  • @JohnnyZoo : Don't worry - you just don't understand what "geek" actually means, that's all.

  • @Vortex42

i understand very well what geeky means but just because they're doing science and research doesn't mean they are geeks. damn prejudices...

  • transcribe..funny shit.

  • ahahhah ofcourse... whos the man who doesnt think about the honeymoon where you both can be alone... naked?

  • Transcribe audio0fail, it said something about Bill Clinton, so funny!

  • oh man, testosterone levels.... that dude sooo cannot wait to mate!!

  • I DO--- hes brain's think TEAR THAT ASS UP!

  • Transcribe audio WIN!

  • @monsterbuk it gets me every time xD so fun sometimes

  • LOL @ New transcribe audio bullcrap :D

  • You have got to try the "Transcribe Audio" feature. It is hilarious.

  • 1:48 DAAYYUUMM

  • Huh! That is interesting. I used to think that the wedding ceremony was just a useless tradition.

  • Lovely bride-glad to know the groom is up to his duties!

  • I'm surprised their confetti wasn't all 0's and 1's.

  • Wow, that's cool!

  • wow the new transcribe audio thing is amazing. Its of course not perfect but every technology first starts with a beta :D

  • lol this is the nerdiest wedding ever!

  • i love that movie My big fat greek wedding.

  • very interesting indeed!

  • oxytosin is serious business

  • he would be in so much trouble if his oxytosin didnt rise xD

  • Hm... So in the future, we won't need to get married to make the chick feel special and instead have her pop these special hormone pills this guy is working on? Sign me the fuck up.

  • yay shes back : )

  • Yeah finally! Sandrine FTW!!!

  • terrible

  • Btw. i won't allow these tests, because I know my testosterone is going to shoot up very very high. Just by looking at my girly hehehe

  • thats not all thats going to shoot up im sure haha

  • Curios Joke : social animal stuff, it would be interesting if someone can mention me another species that gather around before couple species are going to mate .. i don't know if there is another .. but you never know .. anyone ??

  • Que :I wonder If they were told that they are being tested for these hormones or not, you know "result effect" but even though by just thinking highest amnt. of testosterone from groom is fascinating, i am sure others (male) must hv thought abt sex by seeing that ceremony. Fascinating stuff. :D

  • I'm thinking "swarm of bees". Not sure of this but after the swarm has formed, the queen flies very high, followed by males, then one of them mates with her and all the males die.

  • thats fighting man ... competition. I mean, i am looking for something where no-one dies but they take part. You know gathering and all that. But good try though lol our brain growth has been to extreme compare to other species. That's why its still full of Mysteries, no fear though we are getting to know it.

  • That's just silly. :-)

  • Amazingly enough, no testosterone was found present in the man after a year of marraige.

  • oxytosin + tequila = children

  • i heard alcohol reduces sex performance. :P

  • wow, i dont think i've ever cared about anything scientific less than i do about this study. all this study has done for me, is make me realize i still hate weddings no matter what results they come up with.

  • It's interesting how the New Scientist's principles of not using the term 'geek' for scientists doesn't stretch to the Youtube channel...

  • WHY???? i cant hear anything the narrater says but the backroundnoise is superfucking loud! does anyone have any blinding insights whats wrong with my soundcard pleas help me

  • pauly shore at 0:44?

  • Why don't you listen to us! Find another person to narrate for the videos! Give this lady another job so that you people don't get guilty about laying her off.

  • Bring back the sexy voiced lady, not that one... :(

  • One week later they measure the effects of the annulment proceedings.

Jesus, like going to weddings isn't annoying enough.

  • shes awesome. your ears are not worthy.

  • SHE'S BACK!!!! OH NO!!!?!?!?!!!

  • So, a wedding is like experimenting being high with chemical reactions in our body, and the it's more noticable while being part of the wedding. This experimentation seems to give an argument to those who want to be married and have a gorgeous wedding... but will you continue the experimentation with other kinds of weddings like more private ones, more spontaneous ones, and variations based on cultural practices and settings?

  • OMG ITS 1984, stfu

  • This new neuroeconomics field would probably benefit from some kind of probe that you put on your person and continously monitors the blood throughout the day.

I think there are insulinmeters that does this, can that not be done with oxytocin or adrenaline?

  • "we found aids in ur blood"

  • "He was thinking about the honeymoon" Loool.

  • Yay. The old narrator is back...woohoo...

  • What a waste of money.

  • his explainations seemed pretty out there. I think he isnt a good scientist.

  • lol everybody got a new disease today WOOHOO!

  • lol

  • Interesting. Should be more real life studies like this.

  • What a merry wedding - all the guests are bleeding!

  • TWENTY-FIRST DERP DERR DURRRR
