Thanks for your comment which is very true, but in moving on we need to learn first where we made foolish mistakes in the past so we will not make those same mistakes again.

That thought did not occur to me and I thank you for pointing it out. Interesting idea! Jacob was God's choice and God was with him, apart from that he was just as much a sinner as any other human being.
Jacob can also mean heel grabber. Did it ever occur to you that Esau wrestled his way to be the first born and it should have been Jacob and that Jacob was a good son and obeyed his mother who didn't want Hittite daugthers in law
I think there are consequences to all the things we do that are wrong, even if it is just Jacob living in terror of Esau during the 20 years he spent with Laban. However we know that God was in all of this because God had told Rebecca befor their births that the older would serve the younger.
