I tried a dual boot with Vista and Linux. You do not really need it. Linux has evolved very quickly during the last years, even a Windows fanatic can find his way in Linux. And why use Windows, if you already are using Open source, like Thunderbird, Firefox/Chrome, GIMP, Open Office... Windows is damn slow, uses far more memory and harddisk space than nessesary and you constantly have to be aware of viruses.
if you say game station as playstation Definetly get a 80 GB Ps3 with Metal Gear Solid 4 god that game is awesome but so do many other games..you gotta choose wisely and linux created a operating system just for the ps3 so try google and find it there
Every other system would be farther ahead if Microsoft didn't constantly work to slow them down with the continued policy of incompatibility and trashing of standards. Get ready to watch Microsoft pay more boatloads of fines in European courts. At least the Europeans have the balls to hand them their asses. We get nothing here from our paid-off politicians except huge deficits and nothing to show for it.
I lived in Europe for about 10 years, and it was my son that pointed me in the direction of Linux.
I've worked in over 80+ counties around the world. And, have found that M$ is too restrictive. Sit in a hotel room, and your PC asks to insert an original disk. Then scan for virii, asked for an up-date, etc.
I am more of Ubuntu fan, but daryna is ok, based on ubuntu anyways sa it gets all support from it except from some few bits, but in general any linux rocks man, and YEAH WINDOWS DOES SUCK
I used UBUNTU, before that SuSE, plus Novell's SLED. I've used Linux for about 5 -6 years, plus all that open source goodness to do Web Sites / Forums / Blogs.
Linux Mint offers far more, great Desktop, all those codecs, but best is the Mint Menu, Mint Portal, and Mint Forum.

I guess Vi$ta was a success? Reality is Linux does work - world-wide in success companies as Amazon, Google, and even M$.
Have you ever tried a dual boot M$ / Linux set-up?

I've run the Debian versions Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Right now I'm running openSuSe11.0. Lot's of good Linux distros out there.

terrorofgreatness,
M$ does suck. I've been thinking of going to a game station that runs both Linux, and games off one central set-up. Have any ideas?
Meanwhile I'll run Linux (openSuSe11.0) for everything. Man, what I can do here would make an M$ user cry!

how does this compare to mac os x?
mynameisnicholas 4 years ago
mynameisnicholas,
A Linux OS, and the applications versus OSX?
Linux is free, and like OSX, both of which are *NIX based, open to play with, but there's more freedom with Linux.
Their is also better Forum, and application support. Join a Community or two, and see how much fun you can have. That's all free also!
