I myself got a turkish van..one of the type of cats that like water more than any other cats. And my cat, Yuki LOVES the water. He's always sitting in the shower or bathtub and play with the water. i didn't even know it was a van at first.. cuse i got it from a place for cat's with no homes..and I work there. but one thing I can't understand..is people who thinks water is animal torture? I've never heard of dangerous water..lol..

Aw, love Vans! Love how Merlin keeps his tail out of the water. He is clearly enjoying himself. He's swimming with the boat until the end, keeps looknig back to make sure he's being followed. Lol.

May I repeat the sentiments that all of you castigating these people are idiots? The cat is obviously a Turkish Van/Turkish Van mix breed, and Vans LOVE water! If this particular cat didn't like it, he certainly would have RUSHED OUT as soon as he was able to stand on shore. In additional, ALL CATS CAN SWIM. MOST don't like water for 2 reasons: they don't like it in their face due to sensitivity of whiskers, ears & noses; and the water keeps them from being able to stay warm when they're cold.

Yeah the cat loves it.

We some times drag our turtle out in the middle of the freeway and video tape it to show people how much he likes running in traffic. I mean since he wouldn't go there on his own, it doesn't mean he doesn't like it.

sometimes I take my pet snake with me to alaska in the winter to show he is a snow snake.

Clearly, this cat doesn't mind the water. If he did, he'd be scratching his owners eyes out and totally freaking out. It's a myth that all cats don't like water. Many breeds are fond of the water. Some cats don't like the water, but many tolerate it if they have not learned to fear water. I wouldn't be surprised if the cat thinks that the cool water feels great on a hot day

Why loosing energy by swimming if its not needed its, allways like that in nature Only those van-Cats from Van See in türkey check in wiki. these are masters of swimming, heared about cats wich swimm realy far ways there and dont forget that the cat hase to bring the fisch out of and still breethe

@jodieanneelms: i hate people like you. the cat was in no hurry to get out, and some cats don't have to be maine coons to like water. i have a calico and a mixed tabby, and they LOVE water. they're ALWAYS jumping into the pool or the bathtub. if merlin wanted to get out, he'd be out in less than a minute. i love animals, especialy cats.
