Yep... well in a way. STI welded on top of the screw that is holding the comp in place. If you look closely, you can see where it is and gain access to the screw anyway.
I am very positive about the STI so far. I have made minor personal preference changes like putting in a two stage trigger and changing the comp out with a Surefire.
Its running nice without any jams and shoots pretty straight too...
The compensator is not welded on the barrel, i got the same rifle and was able to unscrew it without problems. Sweet rifle it is though.
