  • OMG, he was a legend! So wish I could have seen him....taken a lesson with him, just been in his presence. What a great man! Terriffic player!

  • This is my Uncle who I loved dearly. Thank You for all your great words he was a modest guy but I know he would appreciate your kind words. Saundra Adams

  • この頃のジョージ・アダムスはもう興味は薄れたが、ピアノが大好きなジェリ・アレンだから許すヨ!~アダムスはミンガス時代がやっぱり新鮮! #jazzm

  • I was lucky enough to see Mr. Adams with Charles Mingus. What a great saxophonist!

  • @jay1beaux wish seen. saw mingus big 4 times

  • Most underrated

    Fat toned lyricism

  • Ahhhh. Tremendous. I'll just note that Geri Allen transcribed and analyzed Dolphy's performance of You Don't Know What Love Is (along with a few others) in her Master's thesis.

  • George didn't play this song, this performance came out of his pores....wow.

  • Gentlemen, have you ever heard Feelings played by Valerio Minicillo?? Itsa show, is on youtube! Video LA MAGIA DEL SAX

  • OMG!!!!

Thanks - so much - for posting this version of "You Don't Know What Love Is" by George Adams - wow - just - powerful - best way I can put it.

  • I'd never hear of him until now. Although I play tenor and alto I've been concentrating on the alto (lead swing/big band style), but this has reminded me of why I prefer the tenor. He's beautiful.

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS

  • Notes, teardrops, rain, droppin it. All of the above...

  • no way better than ayler, not in the same leauge, and more like a semi extention of roland kirks tenor playing, more centered on pentatonics tho, what a beautiful sound, this is heavenly

  • jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesussssss wat a masive sound

  • When I first heard George Adams, I almost couldn't belive how wonderful he played. The sound he makes is amazing. I hear a bit of Ayler in his tone but he's even better. He was a very underrated musician.

  • The logical extension and next step from Sonny Rollins..This is almost like a tribute to Rollins' recording on the Saxophone Collossus album. Wonderful!

  • What a tone, what a phrasing!! I have no sympathy for the audience standing in the night rain; I just envy them for their luck of listening live to such a spellbinding performance. I could listen to this over and over again all night long.

  • Phenomenal sound!

  • George Adams is just great!

  • George Adams is my Great Uncle..I thank you for putting this footage up!

    Have a blessed week!

I saw him before he passed and ii guess he passed the music to me im also a professional singer/songwriter...Thanks Uncle George!
