i think that the reason pitchers like lincecum are dominating is the fact that he has found a delivery that he can repeat, over and over again. another pitcher that comes to mind is krod. both have very violent deliveries that work for them because they are able to repeat it. when looking for a certain type of delivery i do agree with you because alot of hall of famers could not repeat lincecumsdelivery, they all have thier own.
I def agree with you. Everyone should find a style that they are most comfortable with. Timmy is also very athletic so he can do what he can do. You can't copy Timmy's style and think you will have the same result. You can take certain things from his delivery, but you should deliver in whatever way you're comfortable.
There is absolutly no way someone can copy a mouvement, but you can do something in same style. He didn't used the right words I think. Paul aside, Tim is unique, but every pitcher can use his pattern. And he did "copied" his delivery: his father and uncle mad it up and they first showed it to his older bro, so he took it from his family.
I think the best way to get sucess is to learn by imitation: watching you and someone like you(a pro), adjusting moves. Then adapt it to your body.
The thing about Lincecum is not that his stuff and control is overwhelming, its that he found a safe(relatively, since pitching is unnatural for the body no matter how its done) mechanical pitching style that will prevent him from tommy john and other surgeries. He is an excellent pitcher with his 95mph fastball, nasty curve and changeup, but its that mechanics that allow him to utilize every last tissue in his body to catapult the ball.
I have to disagree with you Paul, I've talked to Chris Lincecum and he has helped me with my mechanics. It is possible to copy lincecum and also he learned his motion from Chris Lincecum who was the 1st pitcher to use that wind-up.
Pitching is a skill sport that can be taught and it can be learned but lincecum's delievery isn't for everyone since few are athletic enough and understand how to create leverage.
Not something for everyone but I've been able to do it just fine.
I agree with you; I've made my whole life in learning this way. My slapshot comes from a friend, I'm making my delivery from Lincecum. As I wrote higher, You have to find the way that suits your body. I wouldn't say athletic person, but flexible. Here, unflexible person would jam their back on first try.
alot of people think hes gunna get injured because of his wierd delivery.
