I got a ? Who cares its freaking spring training! Yea he was safe but dang. To all of u uneducated baseball ppl on here who said they called it on the "overslide" the umpire called him out b4 he even came close to comin off the base retards
I would trust the Ump's opinion on this (I'm guessing he called it on an overslide). We can't see from this angle and distance if the foot ever left the base, but it's definitely plausible.
@jfab113. In my opinion Jason is safe because his body already touched the bag before Zimmerman made the tag and Jason's foot was still on the bag.
If you're an umpire you don't say "I think" you have to state it in a more confident manner to show the coach(es) in the other dugout(s) that you had formed an opinion on what you clearly saw.
I really love your opinions you guys/gals. I personally think Heyward is safe because Ryan didn't put the tag down in time to block him off at 3B. But you guys should try umpiring for fun.
That is SAFE from a mile, doesn't matter that the throw beats him, third baseman still needs to touch him before he reaches the base and there is where the "out" lacks its true value. Don't worry Braves fans Jason will steal a lot of wallets this season(something the Braves forgot to do).
just cause 3rd base coach does not even move does not really tell the whole story, that not the point, usually that is correct, but to me third base coach was not even looking at the play
I think since the umpire was looking right down on it, and this view is from behind home, behind a screen, and the camera is moving, dontcha think maybe the ump got it right? 3rd base coach doesnt even move. Thats an out all day.
he went off the bag when he slide he is out.

He was out. He slid to the outside of the bag and took an extra fraction of a second to reach the bag. The tag was right on his hand. Good call.

to bigyaz, umpires make mistakes all the time. I personally think he was safe, thats just me.

Really? You're going to criticize an umpire's call based on this video from a terrible angle from this far away? You're kidding, right?

Definitely safe.

@seadogvcd Definitely? There is no way you can tell that from this angle. In baseball, throw beats him, hes out...as the case here..

but they also have to tag him.
