The only reason why Simon was so against Taylor was on his audition day he told Taylor that he would never make it that he should be a back up singer and went on with his rambling and he did not vote to put him through to the show . And then BOOM Taylor did just as Randy and Paula said he would and he made it through so the whole show Simon did everything he could to knock Taylor down ...I dont think that pompass Ass ever give Taylor a nice comment . It must be so sad to live in Simons world !
TBH i was rooting for him from the very start. I actually won some money betting that he'd win the whole thing xD a victory well deserved! Possible the most soulful singer to ever win idol.
Problem is: Simon is right. Still, people congratulate Taylor exactly for the flaws.
Simon could have answered "I wanna give you the best, but you don't want it. I try to bring excellence".
Anyway, it´s cos of Simon's great comment that all the candidates have a real chance of growing up. Most of Paula's and what's his name's do is pure entertainment.
Taylor was fun, no doubt about that. And please dont get all extra offended ´cos of my comment.
Simon always complimented Taylor's voice, it was the dancing and antics that he didn't like. Taylor just revealed in an article his strategy for creating a character that would leave an impression for the voters. Guess what..IT WORKED! Look at the crowd reaction here. 4 great singers left at that point and he found a way to stand out above the pack. What you saw of Taylor Hicks on idol is about 1/10th of what he can actually do musically. He paid his dues & played them all. WELL DESERVED WIN

Taylor was great! It is a joy to see the love he has for his craft. BTW, I don't get why people say he looks old. Gray hair, yes he has it but you can't look at his face and say it looks old by any stretch of the imagination. It used to be that bald was considered old too but nowadays that's in fashion -- you have to look at the person not their hair color or lack of hair. Just sayin'.

I just heard him in an interview on my local radio station (Portland - The Buzz) and he's performing in Grease. Taylor, who was dropped from the J Records roster earlier this year due to poor album sales, is set to play Teen Angel in the musical.
His first CD (not the earlier self-produced ones) is certified platinum. Not good enough for them even though very few artists come anywhere close to selling that many CDs.
He's been playing in Grease since last Dec. On Broadway, they had an 8 story pic of him on the side of a building and he revived the show financially. The fans were great to him as they have been all across the country. He isn't "suddenly" in Grease.
I love Taylor's voice and his dancing. Have you seen him lately? WoW! He looks like he just stepped out of GQ. What a handsome man. He has a new cd out called 'The Distance' . Great songs.

i think he suxs well i think hes got a good vioce but nothing to get rlly famous on mabye a recording contract for a lil while but thats it i think hes a wedding singer cuzz with his look and his singing i think thats all he could pass for and im not bein mean im not goin to take away the fact that he can sing cuzz he can but in the music industry it just dosent fit.

He truly is a amazing singer... which is a shame, because he is not good looking, has no stage presence, dances terrible, and has a turnoff personality. If I didn't have to listen to him talk of see him on stage, I think I might actually like him.

hahaha...ok first of all, i didn't watch of this season because i had a hectic schedule. I for one was rooting for chris elliott ending BUT to say that he has NO stage presence and has a turnoff personality its utterly RIDICULOUS!!! HIS PERSONALITY AND STAGE PRESENCE is what helped him win!!!!!! wow that was jus a wierd comment!

Season 5 was the most successful and competitive season ever. Taylor was NEVER in the bottom two. So he had a good shot at winning in any season
