lol... lucky you.. atleast you get some practice... I only have some fewer practice sessions with the needles next semester before they dumped me to do the hospital practical next year... yikes.... and I'm nearing to my third year and never been doing manual blood pressure test on ppl... so... better you than me though.... ^_^V
I'm the same way with needles. I sometimes think that I should be a nurse, but then I remember that I once passed out at the sight of an IV in my aunt's arm. Ick. What made you want to get into this despite your fears?
Noticed! HA Hey I do know wat that is!! hehe aww I have come down w/ the same illness lol! Hope all is well! Happy for you!! HEY I hate Dr's and I'm becoming a surgeon lol....go figure!
Last time i gave blood i was there for half an hour and they only got half a pint, they settled for that though as some were giving a pint in 10 minutes... I've also had a nurse poke me 5 times before conceding and getting a doctor...It wouldn't matter who held the needle I'd still be equally as scared.
Wow. I give you props for being able to not only get blood taken in class, but be the person to take blood from someone else. I get dizzy just thinking about it.
"It won't hurt unless you want it to", and then you hold a needle. That's actually one of my fantasies come to life, tee bee aych. I'm gonna go touch myself. Love you <3
I'm on a diffrent account then i was then you said you would give me your msn but forgot a week or so after i reminded you and you said you couldint cant remember why not tho but we talked on stickam and skype
Well from what I remembwe the last time we talked was middle April I understand the MSN thing I get people adding me every day and i have no idea who any of them are
Phlebotomy is the hardest part of being a lab tech in my opinion. Or at least it's the part of the job that takes the most practice. God bless butterfly needles and screaming two-year-olds!
Well, if i happen to be in the Northern Virginia area, and i happen to need some blood taken (which doesn't seem likely since I live in Arizona) I would be happy to have you draw my blood.
Just remember before you stick that needle let the alcohol dry; it's less painful. And by all means please don't blow the alcohol dry with your mouth, lol, you'll most certainly give someone an infection. Just fan your hand briskly back and forth to get it to dry. Oh and another trick for those without dilated veins, use a blood pressure cuff between systolic and diastolic and wait a few minutes. It's a trick I learned at Harvard.
i actually think that is awesome! i love in the Nothern VA area. (Alexandria actually). i can be getting my blood taken and be like "omg are you from youtube?!"
I've wondered for a while now that she mentions breathing, but do nurses draw straws on who has to remind the patient to breathe? cause there is always, and only one nurse, in the group who reminds me to breathe anytime they try to find a vein...
I go to health careers high school and they offer phlebotomy classes your senior year. That way, you can graduate with a certificate and start working right away. It's pretty cool.
Glad you're thinking about the medical field. It's always interesting. Hope you feel better soon!
I also have a deep seated fear of needles. Sadly I was recently diagnosed with diabetes, so daily blood glucose checks are now part of my life. Having an attractive woman draw my blood wouldn't suck though.
Sounds like a great thing to be doing. I've had my fair share of people taking blood samples from me, and it makes so much difference who is doing it. Sometimes it doesn't hurt at all and it's like you never had it done, and other times you come out with a bruise the size of your forearm! I hope you become one of the former :)
so...one time I got my blood taken and the lady that did it asked me to pump my hand and I saw the blood literally spurting out of my arm...I used to be fine, but after seeing that I now hate giving blood. so...don't do that to your victims...err..patients. =)
I think I speak for many of us when I say, "We Miss You!" Of course we all recognize that youtube is but a portion of your life, and a smaller portion of ours, but it is an incredibly pleasant portion. so make more movies if possible! luvya.
I was lucky. First time I ever gave blood I was lucky enough to get two top notch, Phlebotomists, is it?
They even gave me a plush toy lion & all the candy I could eat. I was in school at the time, so that explains much. Or they might have been pedophiles.
Either way I've been meaning to go again for some time & I'm giving you 4 stars for the pleasant haircut.
A friend of mine is a lab tech at Yellowknife hospital in the Northwest Territories. She's got a thousand stories of taking blood from ER patients. :/ Even had to take samples from one of the Ice Road Truckers!
There's adventure to be had in phlegbotomy, that's for sure!
That's sounds great. I have a friend who just learned about taking blood too. Thank goodness I live to far away from her for her to practice on me. Good job!
ok I have not been subscribed to you for very long this is the first time i have heard that you live in Northern VA. you are popular enough that maybe you could get a gathering put together in DC that would actually be successful. I have been wanting one for a while lately. I would be happy to help.
Aww baby, feel better soon! And awesome job! Glad you're doing something fun, facing your fears! You could take my blood anyday :) I should really donate...
