  • chris packham = legend

  • What a lad!!

  • Haha brilliant!!

  • Packham has done a Few of these. The Middle aged Indie Kid so far has Crowbarred in

The Smiths, The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, The Damned... I would love it if he managed a few more . Before the BBC come down hard on his on screen shenanigans.

  • GENIUS!

  • Some of this was horrifically cringeworthy, but it's funny all the same. Nice work!

  • Oh I love the smiths, this made me giggle so much! I have a new found love for this man, my mum puts this on sometimes..I noticed sometimes, but didn't realise he did it so much!

  • chris i thought was alright being that he likes animals etc but he seems to pick and choose which animals should live and ones he doesnt care about dieing and thats wrong in my book.

  • Kate Humble just doesn't get it

  • This is great, haha.

  • That's brilliant :L

  • I love that sort of nonsense. Fab.

  • love this

  • Was anyone hedging their bets when he kicked off last Autumn's series under an umbrella with " Happy when it Rains"? I was preparing myself for a slew of Garbage (the band's) songs rather than JMC.

  • its nice that the bbc employs a tramp and a lady whose shit dont stink lol

  • the work of a genius

  • The message to Bill Oddie was one of the best things I've ever seen.

  • Hahaha! The 'Frankly Mr. Shankly' one was my favourite...

  • Fantastic, I love Springwatch and The Smiths so for me it was a treat.

  • it helps if you know something about the bands otherewise yer knackered.

  • tonight he mentioned new art riot and life becomeing a landslide by MSP.

  • @shaftsbury94 Thanks! Do you happen to have taken note of his references so far? I intend to make the video but would need help.

  • @colintron So far our punk nerd crusader has managed to mention A Design For Life, Some kind of nothingness, Everything Must go, the masses against the classes, motown junk, from despair to where, motorcycle emptiness as well those two yesterday. (probably more that i didn't notice!) He got design for life in right at the beginning of the first show, the sneaky devil :)

  • @shaftsbury94 ...and Underdogs! I'm watching some episodes myself and chronicling it lately. I should be able to start putting them into a video.

  • he's doing Manic Street Preachers in the current series

please make compilation of this latest series please featuring Manics songs

  • @ursulamutant I'll try (I made this video; that is my old account).

I'm quite busy in the near future, though, so can't promise.

  • @colintron thanks for reply ;) x

  • he's doing Manic Street Preachers in the current series

  • Apparently he's doing Manic Street Preachers this series. This needs to be tracked.

  • @colintron he is and I have clocked a few but not done any recording.

  • @braitnicho This video's on my old account, so if anyone's responsibility it's mine. I'm too busy to watch the show, though, so hopefully someone can chronicle which quotation is in which bit of which episode before they slide off iPlayer.

  • @colintron yep he has done Kevin Carter, and If you tolerate this then you children will be next I don't hink he has said design for life .. yet

  • I really like Chris and a great choice for the springwatch presenter. All the best Chris.

  • Anyone done this with The Cure tracks he did in the next series?

  • Anyone done this with The Cure tracks?

  • It's a show about cute animals, it's not News Night. these gags are prefectly fine.

  • @rebecca3884 Well, surely that's one of the easier ones...

  • sheila take a bow loooool

  • Quality lol

  • EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That is so odd and random :D Although quite awesome. He should use more of the lyrics instead of the titles only, though.

  • I know its not strictly smiths but if he had come back with 'you're the one for me fatty' at the end i would have died.

  • This is fantastic i love the smiths and this was genius

  • Stop me if you think you've heard this one before but lets not panic here, so what difference does it make if he's infliltrating song titles? It's just something you'll have to accept yourself.

People are having a go but If this charming man, this handsome devil wants to do this then, well I wonder if theres really a problem. but what do I know, people are saying he should stop now, but how soon is now? i think he should keep going until this joke isn't funny anymore!

  • Holy crap he looks good for his age, I had assumed he was much younger than 49!

  • i laughed so much at the time

    what a legend

  • lmfao! omg omg amazing :')

  • what a total winner

  • I like to think that this was just an accident and je didn't even realize he was doing it

  • it makes not a jot matey.

  • Some of them were fair enough, but most of them were really clumsily shoehorned in. Especially that last one. Awful.

  • Thanks for putting all these legendary clips together! Must have taken ages :-)

  • Oh mary...Hahahaaa

  • I never even noticed this going on! :D

  • so gay bless him, note the gay ring on the right hand? bless.

  • @BTOPENWORLD Well, what difference does it make?

  • Awesome and hilarious.

  • hahah what the hell

  • OMG this is just so brilliant!!! Love it!!

  • what a dude!!

  • "theyll get ont he outside here. they'll oscillate wildly"

    this was soo funny

  • Comment removed

  • is he a smiths fanatic or is this just apart of the show sceme

  • Never noticed this. Brilliant.

  • but that joke isn't funny anymore

  • I don't think The Jesus and Mary Chain shirt helped either. He could have been near a bee's nest and qouted "Just like honey".

    An Iidie kid at heart.

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies Or "A taste of honey" even.

  • What a cool guy!

  • hahaha brilliant. what's his deal?

  • Bring back Bill Oddie, go back to the old house :P

    Couldn't resist...

  • so funny loved autumnwatch too

  • I think this is absolutly brilliant, it brings back a sence of humour which i think springwatch should have, its a friendly show and chris hasd just personalised it that little bit more ;)

  • Love your work Chris....(:

  • Sheila Take A Bow was genius.

  • not really, seeing how martin helped him with that one. you know, i bet the girl wasn't even called sheila!

  • loool funny as fuck. what a charming man

  • i find it very amusing

  • His challenge for the next series is to mention 'Meat is Murder'.

  • Hopefully, next year's presenter will realise some viewers are as miserable and boring as grai and do something to infuriate him even further.

  • That Joke Isn't Funny Any More.

  • I can laugh about it now but at the time it was terrible

  • I'm fond of the stunt but can't argue with any of that.

  • Comment removed

  • I certainly hope you are. And people call Moz miserable

  • maybe like me Moz just has a much more sophistocated sense of humour

  • I'm glad your in a minority induced by that opinion.

  • It was one reference an episode, I'm sure they lived with it. Especially those who didn't even notice it.

  • Heaven knows I'm miserable now...

  • @grai You dick! You've just passed critique on what most people would have seen and shrugged off as "just a bit of fun". Bellend.

  • @grai Lighten up you miserable cunt.

  • @spr66 you are miserable to write something like that! lighten up yourself stupid

  • haha i remember that what a god.

  • this guy's a fuckin loonatick, but funny

  • So who put him up to the idea, and i hope he won his bet As sneaking that many smiths Titles in one show is a bit crafty

  • That is..... so unbelievably random. Seriously.

  • I've got that PUNK t-shirt he's wearing! It says 'Because there is no fourth chord' underneath.

  • My favourite was the William, it was really nothing reference. Springwatch is great when it's on but i know it's over.

  • Yeah, that was a BRILLIANT response. :D

Love his smug self-delight while he says "What's next?" after he pulls off You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby.

  • Extra points for Headmaster Ritual (so soothly done). I think Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me was the most impressive though.

  • Girlfriend in a cobra, I know I know it's serious...

  • You could see him gearing up fo the sheila, take a bow one- kinda obvious LOL.

    Pretty cool though.

  • Hahaha

    Chris is the man.

  • Not a patch on Bill Oddie, but total respect for this. Great piece of tv! Made me chuckle. Packham deserves a medal for this.

  • Chris, if you read these, please do Sisters of Mercy songs next.

  • Can you believe on the BBC noticeboard they complained about his accent? Last night I dweamt someone loved me! Keep it up, Chris.

  • He should get some sort of award for Sheila Take a Bow.

  • best.thing.ever

  • Hearing him saying "Oscillate wildly" was so surreal. Incredible bunch of clips.

  • He forgot 'A Thrush and a Push and The Land is Ours'.

  • Amazing !!!! Well done Chris :-)

  • Chris, keep it up. Fantastic stuff. TV at it's subversive best.

  • omg chris you r a legend. i cant believe he can quote the smiths that many times in general conversation.

  • Hahahhaha, LOVE IT!!! Chris P, what a legend. Like the other commenter said, yes, The Really Wild Show - all comes flooding back. But whatever happened to the Nutkins bloke (who wasn't actually a squirrel, despite the name). I've seen lots of people shoe-horning in Smiths quotes into any discourse they can find, but CP's effort here is surely deserving of a medal. Although he may have to stretch out and wait. *groan*

  • splendid

  • i already liked mr packham a lot... love him even more now!

  • That's brilliant. He's brilliant. And a Jesus & Mary Chain t-shirt too!

  • absolutely brilliant!!

    most impressive song title....headmaster ritual.....

  • that's great :)

  • Him and Oddie don't get on, do they? It stands to reason that Packham would choose Smiths songs, what with the Oddster's hatred of Morissey.

The only fitting way to conclude his leviathan Oddie-baiting marathon - "William, it was really nothing".

  • @mrchopper Why does Oddie hate Morrissey?

  • Great stuff from the Packmeister.

SW has brought back all sorts of really wild show nostalgia from my childhood this year.

  • Chris. yer a legend mate!

  • What a hero.

  • outrageous.

  • He was a hottie years ago, he's still a hottie now - Chris P - we salute you. Viva Moz xx

  • Brilliant - thanks so much for posting.

"Frankly Mister Shankly" got me suspicious, but "Vicar In A Tutu" made me shout "He's doing Smiths titles!" at the screen!

Easily the best Springwatch series, Chris has been a delight - when will we get Summerwatch and Winterwatch?

  • He loves the Smiths. He loves wildlife. He's HOT...

... Chris Packham, marry me now.

  • Yep, all SW fans enjoyed this a lot. LOL.

Especially anyone the same age as Chris Packham, (48-ish, I believe) who actually saw The Smiths live in the 80s.

Hope Morrisey was amused, should boost his record sales I would think.

  • lmao AWESOME!!!!

  • How long will it be before the show's producers latch on to what Chris has been doing, eventually getting into a panic before telling him:

    "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore"

At which point Chris would ask them if they wanted him to stop at this very moment - once they've replied, Chris could then go to conclude:

    "How Soon Is Now?"

  • Hah, thanks for posting

  • Thank you for this. The Gladioli were a nice touch.

  • Haha! Loved it! Thanks.

  • Thank you for this! I have been waiting for someone to post something like this

  • lol this is amazing
