Lampmaster continued...I don't recommend any movements that require you to sit on your hip, or expose your back. New wrestlers commonly make these mistakes: reach back (as in for a head/neck), go to their hip, hang their heads, bend at the waist to shoot rather than at the knees, and telegraph movements. Hope my response was helpful.
Lampmaster...there isn't much use for this technique other than in freestyle. If you can control your opponent to the point a referee can award an N2 or N3 points in collegiate wresting, it would indicate an extreme lack of experience on the part of your opponent. The move is essentially a roll through, not static or part of a pinning combination. As for performing techniques that expose your own back, the one in "control" is awarded near fall points. As a competitor, and coach,
This is freestyle, not collegiate. Points are earned by exposing the back, breaking a 90 degree angle to the mat. Any type of roll will do. This is an effective roll, as is the gut wrench.
