Oddly enough when they took that torture device out I already knew its usage, as well as its name and the time period it came from, simply because I have a book all about torture's history and its instruments
i ve always thought the starving cage may be the worst form of torture but it's hard to say being that the methods throughout the years were rather cruel and imaginative. how say you?
@jeremyshambles I would say that The Barnacles was a quite unfortunate torture device (Its essentially a miniature noose they fasten around your lower lip and hang you from) and the odd french torture practise of 'Licked By Goats' which is exactly what it says on the tin, this practise involved putting salt water on the offenders feet and then getting goats to lick it off. The tickiling sensation brought on by this would be funny at first would eventually cause the offender to scream for mercy.
now that is fascinating. i have a book on the tower of london that describes a few of the practices used there but those you mention are exceedingly ostentatious. thanks for the response, take care

The only way that 'joke' about the girl not farting in her husband's lap could make any sense is if it was meant ironically in some way.

When I told them I wanted to be a comedian, they laughed. Well they're not laughing now.

Would you look at that, Jimmy Carr seems like he has a genuine interest in studying comedy. That is completely not unexpected.
