  • The train sounds like the R142a that runs on the 6 line in NYC.

  • MARTA RUNS ON A BRIDGE AND UNDERGROUND THO

  • marta on deck fuck all yall rapid transit we got the best lookin train eva

  • Just asking, but is MARTA a full-scale subway or a partially underground commuter rail here?

  • Kiss ASS NYCT rocks we may have some dirty stations but our trains rule one of our lines in the mta is the 3rd largest line in our country so where is marta or on that list huh? exactly NYCMTA rules all.

  • I rekon BART and MARTA are pretty good

  • I enjoy seeing the trains and subways of other cities, US and world. Looks like this MARTA system is also a subway as well as an El. Excellent. More US cities should have train systems, even light rail. I think it's progressive and useful. It would be cool if Austin had an extensive light rail system, even Houston (at least Houston has one started now).

  • MARTA sucks. Constant problems. And they buy their equipment from SEPTA anyway...

    SEPTA rocks.

  • @tkandme3 Are you an idiot?

those look nothing like the MFL M4's and the BSS B-IV cars are old and are reaching their 40 years soon

  • why so empty??

  • He started filming this video at the very north end of the North-South Line(after departing the northernmost stop, North Springs), thus why it's pretty empty. Most ridership on this line, IIRC, occurs starting from the Dunwoody stop going towards downtown, since Perimeter Mall(and a popular mall, too) is right off that stop.

  • Actually it's not poverty, it's just quick.

there are several people who are rich who ride the train, simply because the alternative would take far too longer for them to reach their destination. Mindstate really has nothing to do with it, since people with a "wealthy mindstate" dont normally like to waste time.

  • Why do the drivers always repeat what the automatic announcement already says?

Oh well, at least you can actully hear what this guy is saying!

  • These look and sound very much like the BART in San Francisco. Wonder if they're the same manufacturer.

  • They also sound like some of the trains here in NYC

  • NYC trains are old and NY has never took care of their equipment (which they buy from SEPTA)

    SEPTA rocks

  • The original cars were made by Franco Belge, then the next batch were made by Hitachi and the newest were made by Breda.

  • Bart and San Fran blow. Period.

yeah Patco is so tiny and boring.

SEPTA is the most reliable most superior High Speed rail system in the country. All their reaction is positive. SEPTA rocks.

  • too bad vancouvers trains are the best

  • i love the automated announcements...you can actually understand them. and the driver, too. so much better than DC. our metro might go further, but you can never, ever understand the drivers.

  • Are there any plans to expand MARTA (i.e., build new rail lines, put in light rail, etc.)?

  • yes

down near the airport.they are expanding it south i think.(if you go to the airport station, you can see the new rail they are building)

  • No, they are not expanding it past the airport - MARTA is not allowed to be built into Clayton County as they voted it down. I think what you are seeing is the few hundred feet of extra track that dead ends after the airport station which is there to switch back the trains.

There are no plans to expand MARTA currently. Studies are in process, however, to build a light rail or Bus Rapid Transit line circulating the city along the Beltline.

  • The marta is like cleaner than D.C. and way cleaner than the NYC system.

Plus Marta cars are more conditioned.

    I love Atlanta we # 1

  • yea. youd think since the pres of da us lives there hed do something about it i mean come on we got all the law makers there and they cant even keep a simple metro train clean?

  • i wish the trains here in Cleveland sounded like that.

I love Marta Rail! Kinda reminds me of DC's trains by the way the ride, sound and look from the inside.

  • i always ride on that train to the airport when i am going to fly to u know save some gas

  • is sounds like a NYCTA R143

  • The sound of this train makes me fall to sleep, dim the lights and recline in your computer chair you'll see what i mean lol

  • lol I totally agree!... it's quite soothing! ;o)

  • i missed my train the doors closed in like 5 sec i was leaving the medical plaza lol i felt emarassed

  • damn aint got nunin 6etta ta do???

  • what is the age range?

  • also its a take off sound like a delta plane.

  • most train operaters don't go that fast

  • They sound like the new R 160's that are running on the nycta BMT and IND.

  • you forgot the IRT as well. i seen thos new trains on the 6 and as it was going to leave the station (being 50th st) it made the same noise

  • Yes! This is a good and fast train! I'd like to travel with this once or with similar!

  • what the hell? you get like 5 seconds to get on the train and then it says bye bye lol

  • there probably weren't that meny people getting on the train. The conductor leans his head out of his window to check if the doors are clear before leaving. If there are like 3 people getting on, they don't need to sit in the station and waste time.

  • That's the same take-off sound as the San Francisco BART trains.

  • The sound pitch when the motors power up and accelerate is different, i.e. the NYC Transit Kawasaki R142A and R143 plus MARTA Breda CQ312 are at a lower pitch than the rehabbed Rohr BART A/B cars.

  • This is a fast train!

  • marta= Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta lol lmao

  • @transitphreak I guess im a white converted to african. rapid transit is so much more pleasant than sitting in traffic.

  • @transitphreak Did it have to be that kind of joke. You suck at life!!!!

  • NYC Subway is way better LoL

  • The train was empty because it was leaving North Springs which is the end of the North Line. You can get around on Atlanta on MARTA. Thanks to the Breeze system and GRTA Atlanta is moving toward a seemless regional transit system. For those of you who didn't know MARTA now operates in parts of Cobb county and has taken over C-Tran in Clayton County! How's that for regional trainit? MARTA is in no way a joke

  • DAMN HONEY....

  • A-friggen-men!

  • Marta is a unique, organized, and simple mass transit system.I jus luv the way the automated voice repeats the destination.

  • Really? Even if you live and work on the MARTA lines? I figured a combination of my bicycle and MARTA and I should get around fine. Is it really that bad? I mean, I know using public transport soley isn't easy in some places, especially since I've been carless in Savannah, GA and other little towns around the south. But even in those places, living downtown or midtown, I've had no real issues in getting where I need to go. Aww, now I am slightly bummed...

  • scad student?

  • Yup!

  • You are probably already in ATL, but just wanted to let you know that when i moved to ATL a few years back, i was quite shocked to find out that without a car, you cannot get around! Being Dutch, i bought a bike straight away, but was pretty much the only one that went to work on a bike every day. Riding in Atlanta traffic can even be dangerous, so be careful!

MARTA only goes north/south, east/west and there is nothing else but the bus....

  • Are the trains always this empty? And it looks like its in the middle of the day too. I'm moving to Atlanta in a few monthes without a car. This should be fun!

  • dang the doors only stay open for like 5 seconds
