I didn't think the album was good at all. Evil Never Dies and Hell on Earth(especially) were their best. Overdose is also good, but ever since Relapse signed them, I've lost interest.
i also hadn't followed this band too closely, until this release. But for some reason, i kept coming across advertisements for this album so i checked it out. It was far better than i expected! At first I wasn't exactly feeling his vocals, but by the time "Bitch" was over, i knew it was some solid fucking THRASH. This album is a must for anyone who considers themselves a fan of thrash, because I'm not huge on thrash, and this album won me over.
Awesome and worthy review! You should review Mordbrand - Necropsychotic that'll be out on Deathgasm Records on september 6th. The vocalist from the legendary God Macabre's new band!
You probably really like the german one-man band "Owl". Atmospheric Death/Doom with a Sludge feel to it. They ... or ... he ... released the debut about 2 months ago, and it really kicks ass on various levels. But practically no one knows it. A shame really. Anyway, great review! Gonna pick this up soon...
It was Withered, Toxic Holocaust, Marduk, Possessed and Danzig. Danzig was the only vocalist you could actually hear. I think he may have his opening bands do it that way on purpose to make himself look better. It was a pretty awesome lineup other than that. I enjoyed seeing Danzig get mad and threaten to kick a guys ass in the audience without missing a line.
@RidingRandom I have to disagree. "Wild Dogs" and "Nuke The Cross" seemed to be the only powerful songs on Overdose. The rest of the album felt weak, like it was missing something. To me this is full from start to finish. Trust me, I love Overdose but Conjure and Command is better in my opinion.
@FreeOfConformity Honestly, Im gonna take back what I said. Like you said, this album is just amazing and powerful throughout, but Overdose had a few songs that seemed like they just didnt fit. But City of a Million Graves is another powerful song from Overdose.
This album is different from other TH at first, but really grew on me.
the vinyl is up for pre order now 30.00 bucks for the 2xLPs - 1xLP standard C&C LP cut at 33 RPM w/ Additional “Live in London” Bonus LP cut at 33 RPM.Single LP Jacket w/ 2 sided insert, Additional Bonus LP in Standard Jacket
and 16.00 for the Single LP Jacket w/ 2 sided insert
Toxic Holocaust hasn't been a one piece band since 2008.
"For the first release on Relapse Records, a session drummer was used. After the recording Phil Zeller (Philthy Gnaast) and Al Chambers (Al Positions) of the Canadian band Rammer joined as permanent members." - from metal-archives
Al Chambers was later replaced by Nick Bellmore (Nikki Rage) and is supposed to play the drums on this album.
Great review! I love this band. Saw them live and actually met Joel Grind and he signed my CD of "An Overdose of Death". Everything I have heard from people about this album is its better than Overdose (which I almost worship) so I'm pretty excited to hear this.
Thanks bro. I have work backwards and pick up their older material. Never paid them much attention until this record came out and lit me up. Seriously can't get enough of it. I listened to it again this morning 2X back to back. I'll pick up "Overdose" since you dig it so much. I get to see them play here in sept with Holy Grail @ a tiny Punk bar. Should be dope, I love small clubs the sound is always amazing.
@JGCSOUND Thats the best way to see bands. And I didn't notice this, but that link to the Syracuse show is one I was at. The second time I saw them was with Trap Them Skeletonwitch and The Black Dahlia Murder at the same venue haha.
Awesome review. Such a killer band, looking forward to this one, I still listen to "Hell On Earth", love that one. Kinda bummed the logo is changed, much preferred that original one. But its all good though
Thanks bro. I need to work backwords and pick up there older stuff. I 'll start with "Hell on Earth" since you dig it so much. I prefer the old logo as well. The old logo is sick!
Sw33t review. I really love Toxic Holocaust believe it or now. A friend suggested it to me earlier last year. Didnt know there was a new record out. Ill be sure to check it out! :D
Thanks bro. Joel is actually from your home state and just recently moved out to Oregon. There are so many good avant garde bands comin' out of Florida. Glad to hear your into TH, this new record is a beast.
