Ive had to remove my otterbox just to fit the connector. the solar charger works good when u get thru all the issues but in my case my otterbox has to be removed on mine for it to work.
Apple put a resistor or some electronic component that checks to see if the cable is made for the device, that's the issue. Their cables have those of course.
@andryb88 it will work, but you will probably have to unplug/plug a number of times to get it going. it will eventually work, shame that it won't work the first time.

I'm also trying to find a way to charge my iPhone3G with my solio (3wings) without to buy the Apple connector. It's a shame again for Apple -_-
If you find a way just tell me please, i'll continue to search and maybe i'll try to build my own connector ! Good luck
