  • لعن الله ابو التويوتا والياباني المخيس

  • Are Americans really this stupid?

  • Well, when my sister was in the car, it completely locked up. The car sped up, but it locked the steering wheel and brakes. We were horrified! We couldn't put the car in neutral, the shifter locked in place.

Don't blame the driver for the cars faulty manufacturing, people!

  • Some people are just so fvcking stupid and goes panic attack.

WTF, drivers should know that going in "N" always work whether if it's a new or old car!

Driver Education should start teaching these common sense to students and listing it in there driver manuals!!

  • common sense..

  • ALL of the media blitz regarding TOYOTA was pushed bt US car makers, meanwhile these same car makers have MASSIVE DEFECTS and all they do is toy with their customers not vaidating waranties exhausting all the avenues until these customers get tired of spending money and time trying to get ANY response from whoever is sitting at the "customer service" desk that day only to get a "we're SOOOO sorry this is happenning to you but........ask me I,ve been fighting ford since I bought a windstar ..NEW

  • Oh no no no this video is all wrong, Best way to stop is into a wall

  • Toyota=DEATH

  • hold your foot to the floor for as long as desired it will have a speed limiter most cylinder cars will get to 150kph and slowly climb from there plenty of time to slow down

  • You can also jump out of the car ;)

  • what is neutral?

  • @moiseswin is that a joke??????????, if you are a driver neutral is a gear where the gearbox is not connected to the drivetrain, it disengages the gearbox

  • @dahorn100011 Will that make my car go vroom vroom faster?

  • @moiseswin no, it'll do nothing, when your throttle pedal is jammed open it means the car is not longer out of control, but you should cut the engine immediately o prevent damage

  • ummmm one of the things that a braking system is designed to do is overpower the engine. So either this guy has had some MASSIVE brake fade or he's not pushing hard enough. Either way, I call bullshit.

  • @midgetmayo I know he specified his car, but like I said, not every car is a stick-shift.

  • much more simpler if you have a manual shift you just hit the clutch.

  • @potrebnifukec

with manual shifting you can also stop the car without working brakes.

  • everyone is giving abc shit for video but people have died in this situation so give it a rest

  • sorry abc news, but you are stupid if you honestly think that someone who cant stop their vehicle will understand your terrible tutorial.

  • @33LB Not every car is a stick-shift.

  • @jackslater230011 He specified his car.

  • if my car was accelerating out of control, i would instinctively do an emergency stop, pushing both the brake and the clutch to the floor. wouldn't most people do this? it would certainly stop a car in this situation, as the car is out of gear when the clutch is pressed down.

  • i can see panicing when that would happen but if you thought for 2 seconds...

  • N! N AS IN NEUTRAL!

  • @chap8938, I know right?!?! All this bs new features such as auto parking, braking, etc.... All this shit is doing is covering up the drivers inability to properly operate a vehicle.

  • German vehicles are the only foreign cars i will ever buy. And the Only American Vehicle will ever drive is a Jeep.

  • hard to find neutral? if you cant find neutral in an automatic gearbox you shouldnt have a lisense.

  • @chap8938

I wouldnt comment if i were you, just make yourself look stupid!

    You mean LICENSE?

  • Go VW!

  • its is pretty sad how ignorant the average person it when it comes to cars...its like 90% of people just put in gas, turn the key and go...if you popped the bonnet they'd probably be suprised to find an engine -_-

  • @N0Sdog Most Americans don't even know how to drive a car with a manual transmission. They probably don't even know how to open the hood (bonnet). In my old age I prefer cars with automatics but it's nice to know how to drive a stick if I need to or if I ever rent a car in Europe.

  • @waterfrontdude I'm a teenage American and I learned to drive stick shift at 8 years old and I know how to pop a hood pull and rebuild and service a whole engine and transmission. But I agree not knowing how to drive a shift is fucking moronic

  • Simple thing, drive manual.

  • *century sorry.

  • Modern transmission? Hell buy manual! Neutral has been in the same position for over half a decade.

  • That's why I prefer european Cars with a 3 pedals and manual Transmission ! There is no such a problems. You americans are lazy and clumsy People, it's so nicely to drive normal cars, not that like child Toys car s for toddlers. It's good that on this Earth is the German's to think 'bout the technical side of that things and save your Asses... So, drive european Cars folks... I'm driving Mercedes and don't have problems.

  • vw ftw

  • shift the gear to (N) and stop your car on said the road

i hope to all safty driver

    good luck to all

  • Prius is a wonderful car. What I like to do on occasion such as a hill is put it into PWR mode and take off like a rabbit since the electric motor and gas motor are both engaged. I get 48.2 mpg on my 2010 and 49.2 mpg on my 2011.

  • New cars today are half computer.

  • If Japanese cars' break override gas, how are you supposed to Drift? =\

  • what happens if the brakes doest work and the e break doest work too.how can i stop my car?

  • @livepunx If your e break wouldn't work your car shouldn't be on the road to begin with?

  • @livepunx jjajjaaj but then how i can stop mi car ?

  • In fact I haven't heard a thing one with a bit of brain already know.

  • The breaks don't have enough power to stop the car under full throttle? Here in Germany it is LAW that it HAS to have enough power to do that. I don't think that guy tried hard enough. Maybe he never really stepped on a car's break.

  • Toyotas are awesome cars with a 100% reliablity track record, I think the japanese over done some parts of these modern cars which left the simple parts in the shadows.

  • For mthose claiming the guy with the prius was lying... this video shows you what can happen. For those claiming all that should have been done was put it in nuetral you cant on a prius, you also cant just shut it off you have to hold the power button which then youll lose power assist like steering. so if you had been him and this happened could you remember all this and try to control the car at the same time? NO therefore the lesson here is DONT BUY A FREAKING TOYOTA!

  • @Graciedog On a Prius you place the gearshift lever in Neutral. If you just tap it over to neutral though it will not go out of gear. One half second or so of HOLDING THE LEVER IN NEUTRAL does it though and you do not lose power steering or braking cause the engine is still on. It's very simple and I suggest people practice putting whatever car they own into neutral. The cop with his family that crashed because the mat moved up was not lying. The California guy was definitely lying.

  • I just can't understand why everything must be done by electronics and computers. Gaspedals did stuck in old days also, but at least you were able to shut down the engine! I absolutely hate cars of today!

  • "you actually have to read the manual to figure out how to turn the car off" Holy shit! I'snt that what your suppose to do when u get a new car, read the owners manual and learn about your car? Nobody has the common sense and is too stupid to do so. How is it hard to find neutral? You would have to be brain dead or a complete retard if you cant find neutral and shouldn't be driving a car you cant control. People need to get their head out of their ass and learn how to drive or get off the road

  • thank you very this video could save somones life one day

  • I hate the power button. I also can`t stand the gear selectors like in that particular car. Call me old fashion...........

  • note to self - never buy toyota

  • i'm surprised that people don't actually understand that neutral takes power away from the drivetrain. i just asked my friend what to do in a stuck throttle situation and she had no idea.

  • if u dont know how to do this on ur own then maybe u do deserve to die.

  • just turn it off!

  • @HASHEAVEN You can't >>if you faced like this situation you will know why you can't turn it off

  • poor americans

  • If people don't understand the concept or physical movements of putting their cars into neutral then they don't deserve a license.

  • @meeatfood2 if your car is as electronic as the new prius' are then it won't shift into neutral

  • @lifesabeast1010 The point of neutral on your gear box is to take power away from the wheels. That is it's sole and only purpose. It doesn't matter if the car is a computer with wheels, if it has a gear box and an engine the point of neutral is stopping the transfer of energy from the engine to the wheels.

  • about a month ago the throttle on my rover got stuck when i was coming to a corner on our farm and im almost 13 and what i did was foot on the clutch and brake, engine redlined and when it stopped i turned the key off and i was safe. so im almost 13 and come on if i no people on the road should be able to do it.

  • Electronic throttles. Very bad idea.

  • Just don't buy Toyota and stay alive

  • german win on the overide mechanism

  • I hope everyone who sees this video practices some of these procedures, at least dropping into neutral with the car in motion. If you don't make it second nature, you won't remember to do it in an emergency. A manual transmission is not necessarily better, but it is second nature to the driver of such a car to use the clutch, downshift, and select neutral. Try using your handbrake (E-brake) at low speeds too (5-10mph) so you are familiar with the effects should you need to use it.

  • now this is the reason im going to buy a car that has manual transmission

  • "it can be hard to find neutral". No, its not. its always that big N right before the D. But if you have a manual, its always that pedal to the left.

  • not rocket science, im a cop and this is common sense. obvious to take power from wheels long before 120 miles an hour

  • that happened to me in my rolla :D lucky i put it in neutral turned off the car and grab a hammer :D smack the trotle a little and until today is still working :S

  • At first I was wondering where they got this idiot, then when I re-watched it, I see he is from consumer reports. lol, one of my favorite t-shirt prints that I saw shows a guy wearing a helmet while driving a car off of a cliff and the caption read, "Uh Oh, Consumer Reports is testing cars again!"

  • Who doesn't know how to put their car into nuetral..?

  • @evanellis They same people that don't know how to shut off their car, or don't know their steering wheel locks when the key is turned to the "lock" position, and, coincidentally, the same people people that don't realize that their floor mat is stuck on their gas pedal and all they have to do is reach down and pull it back.

Most people are EXTREMELY unaware of their surroundings.

  • @evanellis come on man... it's very hard to find :))

  • @evanellis asians

  • @evanellis

    You'd be surprised how many

  • @evanellis not to long ago here in California, there was a family of four I believe, driving on the freeway in San Diego that had a Toyota Camry with a faulty gas pedal.. car hit the guard rail and entire family gone. The Driver was an off duty police officer. I think it's mostly the panic and "in the moment" that scares most drivers if this was to ever happen to them to even think logically.

  • @evanellis - People with Priuses.

  • @evanellis people that don't know how to spell neutral? j/k

  • @bustedprius lmao.

  • Are people really that dumb nowadays?

  • @snosk8boarder854 You're a really dumb person. You have no idea what happens to you when panic kicks in.

  • @snosk8boarder854

you know what's dump!!?lose control and DIE!!!

  • I have volkswagen golf and I fucking love it. Fuck toyota fags.

  • @ojyhofoy toyota fags? are you serious dude? toyota make great cares. yeah the prius sucks but theres many others.

  • just turn the fucking key to 1 and use the hand brake duh

  • Just buy a nice german sedan. Don't get a truck unless you're actually going to do truck-things with it. Like haul things or carry fridges and shit. And no, your truck does not need 6 wheels. Go away.

    P.S. Don't buy a mustang. Ever. Unless you're a douchebag.

  • Buy German or American! Always reliable!

  • you pump the brakes and they stop working?!?!

car with such a easy-to-fail system should not be allowed on sale

  • @Areoplane7 Diesel engines have a separate Vacuum pump for the brake booster. Gas engines use the intake manifold vacuum for the brake booster. Wide "open" throttle creates no vacuum and hence does not power the brake booster! Brake booster has enough capacity for one or two braking applications.

  • @Areoplane7 all cars use engine vacuum to aid in braking, unless there is an auxilary vacuum pupm usually only on diesels. there is no vacuum generated af full throttle, so you only have whats stored in the booster to power the brakes

  • It's sad how some people need to be "reminded" of this simple procedure when it should be part of any basic driver's ed.

  • One good reason to never drive an automatic.

Plus with your right foot on the brake and righthand ball of the right foot on the accelerator as you let the clutch out with the left foot keeps the revs up on those bends!

  • My Toyota (2002 Camry) surged on me a couple weeks ago. I did not confuse the pedals, and the mat was fine. This was not a "stuck" accelerator; it was a surge. Toyota denies that this can even happen. Unbelievable. I got so fed up that I wrote a song about it (which I posted to YouTube & I am NOT trying to make money off it). I'm trying to make a point w/ the song.

  • So basically what do you do?

  • Lexis?

  • that is why i want a stick. you can force your car to slow down by downshifting. then you can use the hand brake to stop

  • All I say is: Manual! ;)

  • please tell me oh Mr Auto expert, just HOW does the steering LOCK if you turn the key OFF? you cant lock the steering unless the shifter is in the Park position!

theres an interlock on any car that doesnt allow the key to lock the steering .

    consumer reports needs new experts.

  • @signupsucksass. This used to be a problem in the 80's, I hope your right and they have changed this. I was able to lock the steering by shutting off the engine in neutral in the old 80's toyota corolla's

  • "I lost power steering when I shut off the engine, its very hard to steer now!" What a little bitch! I would love to see him drive an old car that doesn't even have the option of power steering.

  • @chewser117 True! Actually there are even new cars without power steering, some of the the cheap dacias for example.

  • it hard to find neutral? in any auto ive ever been in i has been one up from drive and doesnt require you to hit anything to allow it to move no brakes nothing

  • German cars>>Japanesse cars

  • Personally I disagree with the "read the manual" comment in the video. I've read my Toyota Matrix owners manual front to back because, I paid my own money for the vehicle, and I want to KNOW how to operate it. If you purchase a vehicle, you should be familiar with it, just as if you purchase a house, you should know where your exits are in an emergency. Interesting you point this out however, as it reflects poorly on the driver/owner.

  • wow newer cars are so badly made!! i have a 95 camry and its way better made than the new ones

  • Man, I didn't know the german cars did that..pretty good idea.Wish my E-250 van woulda had that cause when I Slammed on the brakes cause some one stopped in front of me, pretty sure my foot slammed on both pedals Cause there VERY close together in a full size van. That kind of thing is what I hope becomes STANDARD on ALL cars soon.....But, I do believe in natural selection....Im torn on it.

  • im sorry but anyone that is to ignorant to know how to adjust to these problems needs to be required to take a class or turn in their license and boo hoo no power steering/brakes get over it that can happen just by a pump failure and what are you gunna do call AAA wimps im 17 and i could stop and have stopped a carr accel. out of control throttle cable sliped lose of its holder and the car decied to go 110 how hard was it to gear into neutral and turn it off so u dont blow ur engin and pul off?

  • this video mentioned how the power braking can be lost through pumping it. Could this be part of the problem with other accidents?

  • Toyota, moving forward even if you dont want it to. lol

  • Or buy a stick shift car, control the car don't let it control you.

  • Personally I think that to even obtain a driver's license you should know how to get out of a tough situation like this. Something like putting your car into neutral should be common sense, but I digress.

  • thank you for showing people not to turn the car off immediately even though toyota says to do that

  • this is the reason i'm in to old cars. ugh i hate cars that have too much electricals! and i'm barely 19!

  • They made cars, now millions of people have died..what is advancement now cars are driving off themselves. You solve on problem but create 10 more problems..now you have to drill and pollute..lol..this is advancement..? LOL!

  • god forbid we read the owners manual!

  • I can't understand why auto manufacturers want to create more complicated things in cars? Drive by electrical wire? Why the hell can't we just stick with drive by cable? It's easy and it's worked for DECADES! It's REAL TIME information sent to the throttle body. If the cable breaks, the car stops. Drive by wire causes lag and the possibility for electrical failure. Just another way auto companies THOUGHT they could steal consumers money... parts that break all the time. What a joke.

  • Almost makes a Toyota look fun to drive.

  • if you learned something from this video you shouldn't be driving

  • Not to be rude, but if a person is so stupid it cant figure out how to stop the car (put it into neutral) , then it doesn't deserve to stop.

  • @derbigpr500 ya but there are other people who know how to stop their cars and that idiot who doesnt may hit them

  • A few assumptions in this video... like having a conventional stick shift automatic, supposing it is electronic selection? Those of us with manual transmission cars at least have that between us and drive by wire death....

  • Nice vid!

  • they should just go back the the classic cable pedal - never fails, well it did once for me but i just used the cruise control to get home, better stuck off then on!

  • @6Camel6Finger6 lmao, people advance to the future and you want to go back to the stone age, then why the germans never had this problem before? and not just germans, french, italians, british, and many other

  • @hazemvirus iam just saying that a cable will outlast the circuitry in those pedals, maybe after 10+years u might have to replace a $40 dollar cable but that beats replacing a $100+ pedal which can go out anytime without warning, in my opinion they should os stayed with the cable, less problems, more reliability.

like the old saying goes, if it isnt broke, dont fix it. you dont see anyone trying to re-engineer the clock do you?

  • @6Camel6Finger6 most people replace their cars in 4 to 6 years

  • @hazemvirus yes, but an electric pedal may only last 2 years

  • It's pathetic hat drivers have gotten so incompetent they need to have to be told how to do this.

  • Its amazing that I have yet to see anything in the mainstream news telling people to do this or have yet to hear it from Toyota.

  • @Stink808

I find it suprising that Toyota blocked me from commenting their videos.

  • @taledarkside Actually, taledarkside, this is a video posted by Beasley Allen law firm. We delete any comments that are profane or that are just back and forth insults between people commenting. We don't think that these things add to the discussion and that they turn people off who are truly interested in the issue.

  • @beasleyallen

If your doing an ongoing lawsuit, I wouldn't use "carquestions" videos because he has bias views, even if he claims to be a mechanic.

  • @beasleyallen Don't agree with your censorship!!

  • @beasleyallen censorship is the plague of the internet.

  • @taledarkside

They must never heard of Freedom of Speech in Japan!

  • @ScrizzDubb

They do test cars for 1-2 years. Toyota decided not to fix the problem since it had a small probability of showing up in the real world.

wait till 2014 when the EPA wants cars to have 34mpg. they will really be POS cars.

  • @taledarkside Ahhhhh fuck. Whatever, I'm buying a classic while I still can...

  • One more reason to drive a manual transmission.

    1. You are already familiar with changing gears and putting your car into neutral.

    2. Simply depressing the clutch will separate the engine from the rest of the drivetrain.

  • @Liist but in heavy traffic the manual will be pain is arse!

  • @hazemvirus

It is, but once you learn it's not that bad, and definitely don't drive a manual if you get stuck in traffic for 2 hours a day.

I don't get stuck in traffic often and manual transmission is so much better to drive around in.

  • @Liist You got a thumbs up from me.

  • @Liist That is a very good point! But its nice for the people that know what they are doing to have a automatic. Maybe the Highway safety people should make everyone take a test when they renew their license. Just super simple stuff like how to put the car in neutral, what to do if your car is losing traction, how to operate the hazards and blinkers, how to service your engine. Stuff like that. And maybe just explain to them a few things about an engine. Easy for some people, hard for the dumb.

  • @Liist Manual transmissions rock lol

  • @Liist This is one reason why I hate auto's

  • oh no poor Carquestion. Anyone read the paper how Toyota's spare tire holder gets rusted, and the spare tire falls out of the vehicle.

Imagine how many people are going to die when they have to avoid a loose tire going down the road.

    WHAT A POS car company.

  • its true that u can make ur car stop ASAP if u have to if your car is accelerating out of control put the car in Neutral and hit the break as u would normally and u should stop.

i can say this cause i have a toyota and i tried it hehe also my gf has a Prius and we tried it on it also :) so the car will stop :)

  • The above video has now been proven to be completely unnecessary and an example of the media hyping fear instead of reporting facts. NHTSA has suspended its joint investigations with Toyota on claims of sudden acceleration. All investigations they have conducted (more than 8) have all resulted in findings of "driver error". No one has ever proven in court that a car accelerated out of control by itself causing an accident.

  • @carquestions because the cars are destroyed

  • @carquestions Hey carquestions, you had better get busy. Toyota has another entry in ther line of DEATH CARS. They call it the Lexus GX460. Now go get busy with your disinformation campaign. You have a lot of work to catch up on. 300 roll over law suits, and Toyota covering up the problems from regulators once again. These wooden headed japs never learn, do they? Now get to work, you low life piece of shit Toyota shill.

  • @Jellolion1

Your a little late with the news - check yesterdays posting on the hundreds of thousands of GM that lose their ABS and Stability control as a reult of a faulty wheel sensor.

  • @carquestions

So Toyota cars will stop properly with a bad wheel sensor. What shadetree mechanic school did you go to?

  • @carquestions

oh no Mr shadetree mechanic. Toyota is paying the US government 16 million dollars for their POS cars that killed several people.

  • @carquestions In addition to telling us how to stop a toyota death car with a stuck accelerator, now you need to teach everybody how to avoid a roll-over accident with a top heavy, out of balance SUV. Maybe cutting corners by stopping all quality control and safety testing was not such a good idea after all. Wooden headed japs never learn.

  • @Jellolion1 quality i can accept

  • @waaasobe you say its SIMPLE??? If it is so simple, why hasnt anybody figured out yet what is killing all these people? Wozniak, the founder of Apple computer (you know, the company that blew away Sony) has a Prius, and he experienced a runaway. The Prius drivers dont usually die because those engines are weak. Woz is also looking for the cause. He thinks it is in the cruise control.Toyota also has a very complicated cruise control, with speeds set by laser sensors on the front of the car.

  • The Best Thing to do is: buy a German Car or a Car with Manual Shift ;) if your acceleration Pedal doesn't work just Hit the breakes and stomp the clutch to the floor ;) 92 % of the germans drive Manual transmission Cars ;) only grannies have automatic transmission Cars xD don't hate me...

  • funny thing is that so many toyota owners think that toyota is their little buddy or something, and refuse to understand that toyota is a company. it doesn't want to be your friend, it wants to make money off of you.

  • Moral of the story? Buy a German made car.

  • all cars are good you just need to take care of them. over the years we have owned 2 mercedes', 1 bimmer ,2 lexus', 2 pontiacs , chryslers aswell as others. it all depends on how you treat your car and how its taken car of. but you are kinda right ;)

  • @newnewman2002 they are not totally german made anymore...if you look at a sticker today from where the car is built (volkawagen) assembled in mexico...engine from argentina or mexico, and transmission form hungary or mexico,or argentina...is that german made?

  • @Captainbob25202000 It doesn't matter as much where it is assembled as much as it matters where it is designed. German cars are "assembled all over the world, the design is pure German though in terms of innovation, safety, and performance.

  • @newnewman2002 true true, i agree but dosen't volvo also make really good cars(before ford took over) wouldn"t it be better to say that european cars are better?

  • @Captainbob25202000 that was ages ago, volvo was a great car manufacture, ford took over it became absolute rubbish

  • @Captainbob25202000

When someone says "car made by X", it means designed or specified by X, not necesarily built. This holds for any and all countries. So, "German car" means a car either designed by German or design specifications were made by German, and possibly but not necessarily build in Germany. By your logic, Toyota is an American car because Toyota has a factory in US.

  • @newnewman2002 omg thats exactly what i was going to say lol
