@bartownage I love automobiles in general. Being American, that's what I'm exposed to the most and that's what I like. If I were European, I would have a much larger variety to choose from and thus, have a more open mind. It does suck that so much plastic is used in our cars these days, but still it's what I'm used to so it's no big deal. For me, it's all about the nostalgia of the big, loud American V8. I honestly don't care who wins as long as they look and sound good while doing it.

Second of all, this is probably some kind of Jeep commercial, because we both know, that a car weighing almost twice as much as the Mercedes, with only 73 bhp more can't take the Mercedes in a quarter mile. Of cause, it could be driver mistakes from the Mercedes driver, but in a faultless run, the Mercedes would win.
@JonasHoejberg first of all - take a look at the video. the mercedes weighs exactly the same as the Jeep. the jeep is only a bit taller - doesn´t make it heavier ;) (look it up - both weigh around 2 tons flat). also - the mercedes AND the jeep are both automatic so there´s no driver fault. also an important aspect - the drivetrain. the Jeep is all wheel driven which is why it flys off the line giving it the lead. don´t be so biased dude. this is dragtimes, an independent event.

Torque doesn't win races. You don't need alot of torque if you have weight savings. Driving skill and other factors determine this. I know for a fact the AMG Black faster. The video is biased. If torque was such a factor, then the SRT-8 would win against the Switzer GT-R. Look at the BMW 550i vs SRT-8 video....BS.

Second of all, this is probably some kind of Jeep commercial, because we both know, that a car weighing almost twice as much as the Mercedes, with only 73 bhp more can't take the Mercedes in a quarter mile. Of cause, it could be driver mistakes from the Mercedes driver, but in a faultless run, the Mercedes would win.

@JonasHoejberg first of all - take a look at the video. the mercedes weighs exactly the same as the Jeep. the jeep is only a bit taller - doesn´t make it heavier ;) (look it up - both weigh around 2 tons flat). also - the mercedes AND the jeep are both automatic so there´s no driver fault. also an important aspect - the drivetrain. the Jeep is all wheel driven which is why it flys off the line giving it the lead. don´t be so biased dude. this is dragtimes, an independent event.

@bronz3321 The Cayenne Turbo S makes 550 HP only 50 more than the AMG Black. And the black weighs only around 3400 pounds. The Cayenne weighs somewhere between 4500-4800 pounds. Torque doesn't win races. You don't need alot of torque if you have weight savings. Driving skill and other factors determine this. I know for a fact the AMG Black faster. The video is biased. If torque was such a factor, then the SRT-8 would win against the Switzer GT-R. Look at the BMW 550i vs SRT-8 video....BS.

Because the car with more torque wouldn't be able to put the power to the ground. All it would do is spin it's wheels. Also if the car with less torque had its peak torque in the high rpm range it would definately win. Much like sport/superbikes. This is exactly the video shows with the SRT-8 vs the GTR.

Especially since even the newest one goes for $50K(actually a bit slower then the one is this vid, stock vs stock), I mean decent performance for less the all it's performance SUV(or SAV for BMW) rivals. Car And Driver basically said in their newest issue that it takes the Turbo Kings(BMW and Porsche) to kill it.
