Then the ones who got picked were trained as soldiers for pretty much an average of 12-15 months. After that they either went back to civilian life or applied for a military career in some way.
Since a few months back Sweden now uses recruitment and proffessional soldiers like most other nations instead of conscription.

Sweden has a high class western european conscripted army, greater in size than the british army. the pro brit army is very well, but got different cold war doctrine than this ussr neighbour. sweden is a highly advanced nation with top of the line army. leo 2a6 - as the srtv 122 is probably the best tank. then the m1a2, then cahllenger 2. common knowledge that. even by brit tank men say so, and i know this from first hand experience.

Our army trains in Norway. Our soldiers have some of the best training in the world whereas Sweden is just a little peace keeping nation that could not fight a war. The Challenger holds the record for the longest ever kill and we have never lost one in battle. Once the crew lasted two days when it got stuck and the Iraqis tried to blow it up. Leopard has never been used in war, tank v tank, so it is all theory. These boys would freeze just looking into SAS eyes. P.S Leopard = German

The Swedish navy escorted 128 German warships thro Swedish water...whit troops,tanks and ammunition.

The Challenger II never made it to trials in Sweden when evaluation new tank in early 90s.
Leo2, Abrams and Leclerc did and Leo2 did conquer the throne by being the better tank!
