Wow....look at the fat heel on that thing. It's sort of uninspiring looking compared to...well, any real earlier PRS.
I wonder why it is that every guitar company that gets some market share goes right to raising prices and junking up the construction right away. I guess you have to pay for all of those ads in rag worthless magazines somehow.
Hey PRS - start making us a good guitar instead!!!
@daw162 It's a great playing guitar. The heel is a non-issue when playing it. Off the shelf this guitar blows away any new Gibson I've played lately. What part of 'making a good guitar' are you talking about? As far as mass produced instruments go, PRS quality control is without equal. You can pull this out of the case and it will be in tune and ready to go. Versatility, functionality, tuning stability, ergonomics. I don't call that 'junking up' construction.
@tatsandteles I agree with your comment. I don"t understand why people feel the need to constanly try to trash PRS guitars because they aren't Fenders or Gibsons or whatever. They are PRS guitars and they are their own thing. I have 2 American made PRS's and they are great players and more versitile than most ofther instruments. Yes, they cost more than a Strat but you get what you pay for. You can pay $3000 for a Les Paul too but I'd rather not have a sore neck from a 15 lb guitar - Ha!
@damrak1969 AGREED! They are a completely different animal. Most of the haters have never spent any quality time with one of their instruments. They DON'T sound like a Gibson or Fender, imagine that. That's a good thing people. And PRS has the best customer service of any guitar company out there. They want you to be happy, and are open to suggestion or critical comments. Gibson and Fender have improved in that area, I believe, BECAUSE of PRS. They love what they do, and it shows.
If anyone's curious how this awesome guitar sounds in a "heavier" mode with the gain cranked up a bit, check out the recordings on my channel - Cryo Genus and Strands were recorded exclusively with the Mira, through a Mesa Triple Rectifier Solo through a Traynor 400 4x4 with G12T-75s using all three channels.
@0AllForNaught0 ...WOW!!!...I didn't know there was size restraints for being a guitar player or to give a review of one, thats the first time in decades my 6'2" 200 lb. frame has come into issue......sorry
Did anyone say there was a size restraint? He's a very big guy. and the Mira looks very small on him - if you wanna read more into my comments than what I say that's your problem.
The neck pickup on a guitar is supposed to be under the 24th fret harmonic, that is what gives the neck pickup that fat warm sound. If there is a fret there, you gotta push it back, and it sounds really bad IMO
I have one of these in the same color... It's a very unique color and you will most likely not see anyone out there with one similar. If you are like me and like to be different with looks, get this color. This is a great throwback color.
As for the sound, amazing... so many things can be done by just twisting a knob... best move I made... sold my Epi LP and got this, have not looked back. I love making my guitar sound like something completly different only by using the knobs.
check out some picks through google images, it's defaniatly powdered being so faded but looks good, i prefer the maple top Mira, same price but looks like a proper PRS and with a higher end to it, Red Scarlet Smoke-burst with bird inlays is my next buy after a knew acoustic =D
That's a really great instrument. The tonal variety is phenomenal. PRS has to be the best brand when if you like to have both thick humbucker sound and full single coil attack in one guitar
Phil looks like a young Paul Kanter of the Jefferson Airplane. Great review. . This looks like a very cool all around guitar. . though choice tween this and the Mira. . I like the heavier sound of the Starla, but prefer the look of the Mira. .
It's a PRS you don't have to worry about tone and sustain. Check a McCarty if you like your tone to be warmer than that. Ir PRS Starla. Don't forget the tone knob too, you don't need a muddy guitar just to sound like a les paul. You can always make a brighter insrument sound warmer
good review. I picked one of these up a few months ago. Sounds fantastic. Loud and nasty or clean and sweet. Really does it all and it's light as a feather too!
Wow...that's a tough choice; I like the Mira and the Starla. The Mira has 24 frets which is cool. Does it sound like a Gibson LP though? It kind of sounds like it. The Starla in the other review with Phil Miller seemed to pull that off. By the way, Phil is fun to watch and listen to. He looks like he could be any body's best friend. He's got a cool spirit.
an easy LP ownzer is the PRS McCarty.. I sold my standard 50s neck as soon as I got the mccarty. The mira seems to target those that want something between a strat and an LP - the clarity definitely has that aspect of the strat. Single coil modes are dialed in really well. pretty sweet idea tho my mccarty is better for my music... this one is pretty neat
When you play Funk 49, what kind of amp and effects (if any) are you running through. I can't get my Mira to sound that good.
I have to say that out of all the guitars I have palyed and own, the Mira is oneo f the best balanced and comfortable to play. Not to mention it sounds great!!!!
i play all kinds of music. i already know this guitar is perfect for blues and rock'n'roll, but will it do the trick with some heavy metal like metallica or slayer?
YES, Indeed. In Fact I hear a lot of players asking that question. Would it Do Metal? If your playing through a Fender Blues Jr., or a Vox Ac 30, or an Orange Amp , Definitely NO. If your going Through a Marshall TSL, or ENGL Screamer , or a MESA BOOGIE QUAD/ or Rectifier , then YES. A lot of the Metal Tones just require Regular Guitars with Good wound humbuckers. But, whats really Vital is a KICk ASS ALL TUBE HI GAIN AMP!!!! Technique helps a lot too. Single coils will not cut Metal.
amp is a Heritage Colonial mic'd 2X12 Bob Burt V12 pine cab loaded with Warehouse Guitar Speakers E65's. Pedals were ProAnalog and Line6. Korg D888 and SM57 close cone micing...
@gibsonshredder86 I've got a white one (it's in my video for the song Strands) but it was ordered that way. The one in this vid is powder blue, but looks white for some reason. Love my Mira - it's like the PRS version of the Gibson SG, but with a bit different tone and character. SGs are great guitars though.
Man, this guy know TONE!

Hey thanx for the demo. Do you think the Mira would be able to handle the more progressive and alternative rock tones? Lead and rhythm?
Or maybe I should just wait a bit longer and save for a Custom 24?

What about sustain, any idea?

Very cool guitar, I just wish it didn't have 24 frets, that kind of ruins it for me.
I suppose that's what the Starla is for though!
