  • this is the kind of music i like :) ty for this great tune

  • A truly fantastic song! You couldnt upload and pm me the sample of the bass in the backround could you :D

  • @killerbanjo Thanks! I could, but it's really easy to make. It's just a square wave with the edges slightly angled. If you use milky tracker you can create a new sample and just draw the shape in.

  • @subrec90 Thanks for the tip... after a few months of dabbling i now have milkytracker more or less sorted out tech wise but i cannot think of a good tune for the life of me :V I play banjo so trying to write a chip tune is a big change for me... Could you give me some help? I wan't to know about "Layers" of a tune. Such as drums, bass etc... How many layers do you have? How many intruments do you have in 1 song? And how you write... starting with a drum beat or melody?

    Thanks! Ed.

  • @killerbanjo It's different for each song but when using milky tracker i'd normally create a few different instruments, use for one for bass, one for lead and another set for some background arpegios and things like that. I also create a few waveforms for drums and effects, white noise is good for cymbal sounds.

A good way to learn about layers would be to download some modules and look at how they are made, try muting and soloing channels to hear the different layers. Check out the modarchive

  • Yeah! Awesome! How long did this take you to make?

  • @Pyro25100 Hey thanks, I remember starting this track in work and then working on it some more when I got home, maybe did a few finishing touches the next day. So probably just over a day I think.

  • This song is fucking awesome. Thanks for making this!

  • @chubbiercherub Thanks for listening :)

  • Can u add Midi in this one and to have 8 bit gameboy sound plz msg me

  • Quick question...That main melody, how did you get that sound? I've been trying to get a sound like that, but I can't figure out what to use.

  • @adamrothraisdead The main melody is made with a sawtooth wave that I drew in the sample editor, it has some vibrato effect on bits and some note slides. The whole melody is also copied onto another track a few steps lower down and with lower volumes to create an echo effect. Check out the Milky Tracker manual on the website, it explains all the effect commands quite well. :)

  • @subrec90 Ah...Thank you. I couldn't find the documentation for the effects, but I guess I'll go have a second look.

  • @adamrothraisdead Just had a quick look and its in section 6.

  • Awesome...I hope I can get this good with MilkyTracker someday.

  • Awesome track! Upload .xm :)

  • @DDL4Blue Thanks! I'll upload the .xm very soon, just working on setting up a proper website for my music. I'll put it on there.

  • awesome!

The only thing that comes to my mind when I hear this track is " fuck fruity loops"

    Great...

  • @CosmoSamsa haha, thanks for the comment. I think fruity loops is a decent program but using a tracker does force you to work in different ways which brings out new ideas.

  • @CosmoSamsa Fruity loops sucks :). Milky Tracker, Mad Tracker, Renoise e.t.c are the best B)

  • You're awesome! how'd you learn to use milkytracker, I've been trying to learn, but can't really get the hang of it.

  • AWESOME !!!

  • this tune is one of the best i heard !

  • WOW how did you make the crash on 00:18?

  • @AlanPotter9 Hi, The crash is some white noise that gets pitch bent down with the volume sliding down at the same time.

  • you're such a rockstar!! :3

  • wow that's crazy good.

could we have an mp3 download?

i would love to get some of your stuff for my zune.

(yeah i said zune not iPod)

  • @2Netsrak2 Hi, thanks for the comment :) There is a link to the mp3 of this track in the video description.

  • I really like the melody on this one :D

Were you inspired from some other track?

  • @mushk45 No 1 specific track but by the memories of music from old shoot em up games i used to play :). Thanks for the comment

  • @subrec90 Well the only shooter music I remember is Zone 66. :)

Also excellent subtle use of vibrato, glide, and arpeggio. And awesome transitions. :D

  • Brilliant!

U sire knows how to make Chip Tune

  • nice work :D i like it
