  • Hi Marlowe, I really like your lessons. You wrote back there that the backing track was available at that page but I couldn't find it. Is it somewhere else to download it?

  • Thanks Marlowe.....I appreciate the time you take with putting these videos together. Very good information! I learn something new with every video! Thank you sir.

  • wow the backing track is reallly gay...

  • @vzsozs ur really fucking gay

  • Just wanted to say that your videos really inspire me. Thanks for uploading!

  • great solo marlowe!!!!

  • How would you improvise over a song where you don't know the key? Or is there a quick way of identifying what key a song is in, or just play it by ear?

I watched a workshop with Victor Wooten and he just improvises by ear but I don't think I have the skills or technique to do that yet. :x

I'd like to just work it out and stick to some basic formulas first.

  • You got that Rodney "Skeet" Curtis thing going on. Nice!!!

  • Hi! Please write how did you make a musical undercoats.

    Greetings! You're BIG!!!

  • @diguptv Thx: I used the Band in a Box software

  • I need to learn my relative minors.. I feel like a big big big door of improvising potential just opened up for me. I've been playing for like 10yrs now, I should know that already. But still.. better late than never. Thanks so much for this. :D

  • MDK ur too smooth!!!!!

  • i am thialand I like to teach your

  • i love that everybody has an "impro" face.... that face u make when you are improvise, some are cool and some are funny (mine is down right ugly) but i love that everybody has one. even MarloveDK

  • @deadcowpunk

    have you seen ed friedlands

    its well good

  • You are exceptionally good, I wish you can move to the US and teach me how to play like you. lol. Still waiting for the interval and ear training videos

  • nice hat

  • Thanks for posting these...I have learned so much from you and I have been playing a really long time...all by ear and feel. The theory helps my playing so very much.

  • does the Boss loop pedal come with the drum loops?

  • @tambzki No, it only comes with 2 or 3 demo loops, nothing usable

  • What pedal are you using?

  • @derrav A Boss loop pedal, recording the BIAB backing track on that

  • this is so awesome

  • Very cool, this bass sounds awesome!

Which equipment do you use in this video? (bass, amp, ...)

    Regards,

    Simon

  • @FleaHomer Just look!;-)

  • I'm wondering how it works mentally when you improvise. Do you think of scales and your so familiar with them and you know what notes would work up and down the fretboard? Or is it like a freestyle thing that you know the sounds that you want to make and just play it bang on and the scales are just guides?

  • @GiantPandas A combination developed of long hours of study and practice. Most important let your ear guide you when choosing the notes to play

  • @MarloweDK

Cool. Thanks! What I've learn these past couple of weeks as a bassplayer is to know the fundamentals, practice and don't forget ot use and trust your ears!

  • @GiantPandas Cant go wrong with that:-)

  • @MarloweDK Really? because my piano teacher says never trust your ears, only whats on the sheet,

  • @zacebbflo Sounds like you got a classical teacher, not a musican who improvises. In classcal music you only interpret existing music (the sheet), you dont not create yourself

  • @zacebbflo Sounds like a moron of a teacher. Never trust your ears? How did they learn to speak language as a child?

  • @zacebbflo Necer trust your ears? You should change your teacher.

  • @zacebbflo You should get your money back.

  • Lovedddd it marlow, awsome as always!

  • Marlowe eres el mejor. Saludos desde Venezuela!

  • awesome! exactly what i needed! thanks a lot

  • mind sharing the backing track?

  • @jeremyrbass Link to backing track will be up shortly

  • @MarloweDK Where do you get your backing tracks from? Do you use Band in a Box?

  • @bwsailer It varies, some times i use garageband and some times BIAB, this is BIAB as you suggest

  • marlowe...i've been lookin at this video for....about 45 minutes now..and i just dont get the concept. is there a way you can tab this out if it's not too difficult?? i really wanna get this improvdown and i just cant grasp it. i know i can do it technically it's just i dont have knowledge in scales and what not i know them but i dont know how to connect them in my playing which makes me a sub-par bassist

  • @choigunz Well, first of all you need to see the remaining two parts of the video, and i need to write a more detailed info

  • @choigunz This is not a beginner lesson, yuo may want tp revisit my previous videos on "harmonizing the major scale" and "the positions of the pentatonic scale"

  • @choigunz

You could just try to tab it out yourself if you want a tab. Not to be rude or anything, but its right there in front of you. I suggest trying to train your ear to pick up on things like that. Work on your relative pitch. That's much more important for a bassist than working your scales and such out.

  • @Romans10Verse9 well i know where your coming from and i do that..it just takes me a REALLY long time. i figured it out maybe 2 hours after i posted that comment. and i think scales are important because they're fundamentals.//...fundamentals in anything is a good thing to have.

  • could you also use D min pent and E Min pent over that chord progression?

  • @Groynkikt Yes you can, The E minor is really good, but the D minor should be handled with care due to the F(Coming in the next parts too)

  • @MarloweDK Oh ok i see... If A is Dorian, then the F in the D min Pent wouldn't work since I guess the D mixo has a F# rather... i was thinking from A natural minor instead of Dorian. Gonna watch

pt. 2 and 3. Thanks for posting.

  • This makes me go bobblehead - like a bassist should

  • very nice, really good N funky

  • sweet playing fella, you should do this for a living. ha ha only kidding. your the don.

  • @thunderthumbs123

    He does.

  • er, i know. its called sarcasim

  • @thunderthumbs123

There's no way to tell if it's sarcasm or not on the internet since you can't change tonality in text. I apologize if I misunderstood you.
