@123TauruZ321 it doesn't kill them it paralyzes them so they don't tense up as they cook and this keeps the meat tender. if u dont paralyze them the meat will be tougher.
when you put lobsters in boiling water without disabling them, the shock of the water makes the lobster tense up and makes the meat tough. a relaxed lobster equals relaxed meat.
I think in the F Word show, GR shows how to kill a lobster by cutting into it's head first with a knife so there is no cruelty boiling freshly killed lobster.
It seems that disabling the lobster is similar as to pith a frog so that it may feel pain but is not aware or conscious of it. It is a reasonable alternative to just putting them in boiling water with no intervention.
@BarbG11 yeah so true. In countries where people hunt and find all of their food themselves the means by which they slaughter their animals is not very quick. I've seen many instances where they just let the animal bleed to death or they smash their brains in with a large rock or stick. Putting a pin or knife straight in the brain is alot quicker then that. Electroshocks are even quicker. So yeah we are pretty ethical when it comes to killing animals, except the asians ofcourse :)

Good for Bonnie! Cooking lobster does suck without rubber bands on their claws and I also don't like the idea of dropping them in the pot alive...even though they die instantly, it bugs me too.
Well if you drop them in a pot of cold water and turn the heat up they try to climb up out of the pot. So how would you kill them with a knife to the head? They don't feel a thing when they go into the boiling water. It's a not scream they don't have vocal cords. It's just the water going into the shell and causing a reaction.

Go Philadelphia! I like the talk about the Philadelphia restaurants because I'm from there, hehe. I've been to Le Bec Fin once also and I think it was overrated. But that's just my opinion and doesn't mean it's not good because I'm sure many people like it.
Gordon was only in one season of the UK show. He swore off the UK version since he didn't want to deal with namby pamply celebs. Regular people aiming for a prize he can do much more to them. Plus the contestants will put up with more abuse to get said prize.

Each episode has been said to be a 48 hour filimg period. A few weeks for the entire thing during which the contestants have no phone, internet any contact with the outside world except under certain conditions such as during some of the contests, rewards, punishments.

Yeah the lobster doesn't feel a thing. It's just the water going into their shells. They get removed from the water and plunked back into boiling water so there is a physical reaction with the water still in their shells. They don't have vocal cords.

They're stabbed through the head first, Faux network decided not to broadcast that little bit, you'll see often when cooking lobsters in hells kitchen (and again in kitchen nightmares) Gordon will pick up a knife -scenecuts- lobster is dunked in water.
On an episode of F-word in the UK Gordon explained he NEVER puts live lobsters in water and it never happens in his restaurants and if you hear the dialogue at 5:45 you hear Gordon instruct them that way.

Gordon was only in one season of the UK show. He swore off the UK version since he didn't want to deal with namby pamply celebs. Regular people aiming for a prize he can do much more to them. Plus the contestants will put up with more abuse to get said prize.

Each episode has been said to be a 48 hour filimg period. A few weeks for the entire thing during which the contestants have no phone, internet any contact with the outside world except under certain conditions such as during some of the contests, rewards, punishments.
