ugh my foster puppy has distemper right now, he is twitching all the time and whimpering...we should know in the next few days if he is going to make it or not
@brunette2blondie2005 My dog right now has the distemper, i am a little bit worried.. i just want him to get well..he is taking some medicines.. what is your dog taking?
@AzenethBC distemper only has a 20 percent survival rate and the one actual cure for it is the anti distemper serum which most vets don't have but if you look up "cure dogs from canine distemper" on facebook they can help you find a vet who will do the serum, it has about a 90 percent survival rate. We are lucky enough to have a puppy with a mild case of it and he is still going and we believe he is going to make it but he has taken prednisone, clavamox, and doxy.
@brunette2blondie2005 Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately my dog already passed away..We have to put him to sleep, he didnt make it, He get worst when the days pass. :( The only thing im glad is that he is not suffering anymore...
@AzenethBC I'm sorry for your loss, the one puppy I mentioned in my previous comment seems to be over the distemper and it looks like his body is starting to recover from the twitches finally but we just found out three days ago that our other foster puppy got distemper too and we had to put her to sleep yesterday because unlike the puppy who is getting better, she kept having seizures.
GOt Damit if i god my hands on the asshole that laughed. THis animal and couldnt controll his acctions. How would u like it if the man laughing had a seizer and all the doctors stood there and laughed while you where suffering. God damit the lest you can do it take it seriously.
1.)Dr. Wendell O. Belfield, DVM, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, is leading the way in revolutionizing veterinary practises. He uses large doses sodium ascorbate therapy to treat distemper. The dose level was begun at one-half gram per pound of body weight(yes, that's correct) administered intravenously twice daily. With dosages this high, Dr. Belfield uses the sodium ascorbate form of Vitamin C as opposed to the ascorbic acid form.
2.) The intravenous preparations used were made from crystals to avoid sodium bisulphate, a preservative in the commercially available intravenous products, which can cause nerve problems when given at high dosages. He stressed that once this process was started NOT TO INTERRUPT IT FOR ANY REASON not even if the pet appeared to be feeling better or fully recovered before the five days were up because he says "treatment broken off in the middle permits the virus ot take the offensive again."
3.)For vets who want to read on Dr. W, O. Belfield's cure for distemper:
Belfield, WO 1967, 'Vitamin C in treatment of canine and feline distemper complex.' Veterinary Medicine, Small Animal Clinician : Vm, Sac, vol. 62, no. 4, pp. 345-8.
@angryman1007 I did not film it. It was nothing different than a euth in the US. He was given a sedative IM then they administered the final drug IV. I'm not sure what they were using there.
@alfonsvet Considering he was in with another client who appeared to be sharing a story with him, I'd say there could be at least 101 reasons why he could be laughing. Believe me when I say that no one was laughing at this poor dog.
I have witnessed a street dog contracting canine distemper and in its final stage in India, somehow managed to carry him to a vet but had him euthanised.
@crystalherring2246 It was. Luckily we were able euthanize this dog in the end to prevent him from suffering even more. His owners brought him in like this so I he'd been suffering for some time.
Hp te ries todavia del pobre animal que est sufriendo

Why the hell is someone in the background laughing? I just had my puppy put down this evening for distemper and there was nothing amusing about it.
