  • wow, i'd love to have just 1 SUN original! AMAZING!

  • Fantastic! That's give me Gooseflesh! Man! GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!

  • Wooooooooooooow

  • A major Skip around 3.29

  • @sunrecords56 That's the charm of vinyl!

  • How can you tell a bootleg from the real deal? I have "Mystery Train" on sun.

  • @MrMaxxmo Look at the engraved trail-off. The distance between the "20" and the last digits is just under 1/2 inch telling you that this is an original and authentic copy. And also remember that Sun #223 never had any pushmarks in the label.

    L.S.M.

  • Fantastic. Good job playing it on a record player similar to what it would have been played on in 1954.

  • yes the 1954-55 sun records of elvis were issued in the brown sleeves shown as to the 1956 rca ones which were issued in the sun records type sleeves

  • A CLASSIC---R.I.P. ELVIS

  • Amazing!! Thanks for uploading!!

  • Awesome Bro!!! I love it!!! I'd be spinning it too, Are one those Milk Cow Blues? That's one of my Favorite ones.....Peace

  • @peacemanken Yes it surely is! #215 is in line for sure

    cheers L.S.M.

  • great !! Elvis forever thanks for the post ;

  • i sell the all five.......originals...push marks...

  • Enjoyed listening to these again!!! God Bless, Sam, Elvis, Scotty, Bill and Dewey Phillips!!!

  • @11rockabilly yes, this is the real deal :-)

  • i have a few sun records mainly johnny cash and jerry lee lewis original from the 50's stuff i do not care how old or valuable a record is i play them because music is meant to be played. but i play them very rarely but play them.

  • Great stuff, Dig the silverface Champ in the back as well!

  • I love possibly hundreds of other rockabilly musicians, Glen Glen, Charlie Feathers, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran to name but a few, but there's no denying that these records are untouchable, absolute 100% rockabilly through and through, awesome.

  • This record is the Holy Grail of Rock and Roll

  • last time I checked, you listen to records you dont look at them all day. people that mocking his turntable and way of playing his music collection are just jealous.

  • You know, Collectables has reissued these with the Sun label AND the picture sleeves on red vinyl. I have them and listen to them all the time. Not sure I would listen to the originals on a cheap Crosley turntable, though. Just saying.

  • That's a great collection! Sorry to see that you have had a number of self-proclaimed vinyl experts telling you that you're wearing out your records and whatnot. I collect vintage records and play them as often as I would like, and I wouldn't have anyone telling me to do otherwise. I think it's meaningless to own such things without being able to enjoy them and share the experience and the history with others. Even Ferrari collectors take the cars out for a spin every once awhile. ;D Thanks!

  • Thanks again L.S.M. I listened to my grandma's old SUN copy today. Wow 55 years ago. This IS the best music, nothing else compares!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's destroying those records you know. he's using a new needle that hasn't dulled and is just cutting away at the record, either that, or the records have been played hundreds and hundreds of times which is rediculous considering that the sleeves are nearly perfect.

  • On the contrary, I can see and hear a good deal of wear on that record. Regardless of the sleeve, the labels show wear which likely means the disk has been beat around a bit. It's over 50 years old, after all. A "dulled" needle isn't a good idea for any record. A fresh needle runs very cleanly over the grooves, unlike would be the case with a dull one which in some cases won't in stay in the grooves or much worse, has a tip so worn it wears the record away.

  • Is that Bob Neal Elvis's first manager being interviewed?

  • Why in the world are you playing these valuable 45's on that piece of junk old record player? I would think that every time you play one on that thing you are degrading it and losing value.

  • haha, are you watchin a porno in the background

  • any of that for sale? if its real and all.... little jump there on second verse , but maybe thats my computer. love it anyways

  • very light needle preassure here, and yes skip as said, but not on more needle prea. And not for sale. Thanks for visiting and supporting my site

    //L.S.M.

  • @LynchburgSourMash Do you know if there is any fakes on 78s or any fakes on jerry lee lewis, carl perkins, or johnny cash? Or the fakes only on elvis?

  • @182blink1991 i've only seen elvis 78's as new repro's

  • a little skip there??? over all nice...

  • Priceless collection!

  • I'm an Elvis fan , have been all my life. I had two original SUN recordings of Elvis' Mystery Train and Thats Alright, which were originally my dad's. He got them from a family member back in 56 who grew up in the Memphis area. And of course my dad had all the original RCA 45's, some of which had 4 or 5 songs on them released like an album with the cardboard covers, one was a Double 45 it had I think 7 or 8 songs all together on them. Welp, my whole Elvis collection was stolen in 1990. All Gone!

  • fudge... stolen? How did that happen?? :-( I hope the collection was insured (not that it can replace what the collection meant to you...)

  • No, it wasn't insured. I never gave it a thought to be honest. I was young and just an Elvis fan who had collected for years and years, starting with my dad's 45's. I had moved into a new apartment and asked a friend if I could keep my stuff in his storage unit till I got settled. He had gotten robbed. We both suspect his sister or her boyfriend who were both into dope, but it isn't something I could ever proove so I had to just eat it. It still makes me sick when I think about it sometimes.

  • oh yeah, i know where you're coming from and that is a major shame. do you still collect elvis memrobilla?

  • Naa, I've since gotten married and had kids and went broke! lol But I still listen to his music thanks to the internet! And I have my memories which are wonderful.

Memories of having dinner with Charlie Hodge, and meeting some of the people who knew Elvis over the years. My trip to Graceland back in 84 was great. Although I lost my camera! (Story of my life lol)

The memories I'll treasure forever. And I do have two scrap books I made as a kid.

Luckly they were left at home when I moved out :)

  • The mother of rockabilly is not here. Bill Haley began recording rockabilly (including "Rocket 88") between Elvis's sophomore and junior years of high school. Haley was on the pop charts with rockabilly three years before Elvis was, had a #1 pop hit with rockabilly before Elvis did, and had a national hit with "black" record buyers before Elvis did.

  • Buull###! Bill Haley was a great rocker, but a ROCKABILLY he was not! His sound was too pop tinged and did not have the southern sound of real rockabilly. Too much stuff has been lumped into the rockabilly genre (ronny hawkins, stray cats, etc)...

  • "His sound was too pop tinged and did not have the southern sound of real rockabilly." In that case you'd say Zeb Turner's "Jersey Rock" from 1953 was rockabilly, right?

  • Don't care about ol' not-rockabilly Zeb. All I know is you don't grasp the concept of what rockabilly really is. You sound like a self proclaimed "expert" who talks loudly at record shows to impress the crowd. Learn and listen before you sound off.

  • "not-rockabilly Zeb." Why isn't that rockabilly, because it's not pop tinged enough and has too much of a southern sound?

According to you, why isn't Junior Parker's "Love My Baby," 1953, rockabilly?

  • the first rockabilly song for me is the flip side : blue moon of kentucky because of the way elvis sing it . "jersey rock" is more r'n'b than rockabilly .

  • @JosephNScott Correct my freind, you cannot change historical fact, people may not like it but the truth is bill haley was the first major act of the rock and roll era

  • Wow i would love 2 own those. If i ever become rich, thats the 1st thing im gunna do

  • play them records in 30 years it won't matter. I was on the glo-lite label in memphis tenn. if your looking for crude sound of rockabilly my rockabilly tune rockabilly baby/rock me mama 45 I would like some to put one on you=tube please contact me you can have them cheap! johnny kline aka johnny suede baby baby baby eh!

  • I would be scared to play these valuable records on that record player :S

  • LynchburgSourMash you must be a millionare, you have all of Elvis' Sun singles! Do you have one of his caddys as well? :)

  • i have the first press black label with the dog rca victor 45 of thats all right mamma. whats that worth?

  • RCA isn't worth squat,it's got to be SUN.

  • thanks for being so crudelessly blunt..if they are worth squat why are they still being sold and people buying them. get your facts straight guy

  • Crudelessly is not a word if it was it would mean I'm not being crude.Fact is original SUN copies of "That's all right"have sold for over 11,000 dollars. The one you have was produced after the song was already a hit and RCA had bought out his contract from SUN,it sells for 15.oo dollars, and that's the facts"Guy".

  • 78s or 45s sun worth more? so where do you go and sell the elvis records to get that kind of money

so you admit its worth something not squat..$15 dollars is something not squat..then why are we having this conversation?

  • Wow! if you're talking collectible records and you think fifteen dollars isn't squat(by the way I just found one on ebay that didn't sell at ninety-nine cents)then you"Guy"are included in the great masses of disillusioned people that are certain that anything Elvis is worth it's weight in gold.Of course the 78's are worth more, but a simple google search will give you all the info you need to price your "black label with the dog"

  • Actually the 78s are not worth more, it is the 45s that command the very top dollar. This is because many more people have players for 45s than 78s. Thus, there is a bigger collectors market for the 45s. Not that you're going to want to play those records to death anyway; but they still fetch better prices from collectors.

  • $15 is not a fortune, but what is a "collectible record". That is up to the collector. A small amount of people may collect records that no one else wants and not pay a lot of money for them. There is a difference between a collectable record (which dosen't have to be worth a fortune) and a valuable record!

  • thanks for putting this up. do you still play these, or is that a copy you're playing? to me, vinyl still puts you there with the artist - Elvis here - more than a cd or download...good stuff

  • markefitzz, had that quest pretty many times here before (read comments below). This is the original 45 rpm pressing from 1954 i'm showing and playing, i'm only playing original stuff here at this site. Within very special circumstances some very few early RE are being played at my youtube. And IF so are, it is very well decleared. Once again, about the Sun issues of Elvis Presley, this is the first original pressings. Thanks for visiting and supporting my site.

  • ARTHUR CRUDUP está vivo.

  • i sell those fives for 12 000

    roger.

  • born in a forestry hut in n.z in 1954

  • Oh yeah forgot to add Dewey Phillips to that list. If it hadnt been for Dewey and his radio show, no one would have probably heard the record.

  • Zanefairchild.your right Dewey Phillips wasn't related to Sam Phillips but he played this song 14 times continually in Memphis while Elvis went to the cinema because he was so nervous.People didn't think Elvis was white do they had to find him and get him on the show...the rest is history

  • Not quite... Elvis did not become a world wide superstar overnight, it took "Heartbreak Hotel" two years later to do that.

  • Wow 54 years ago today! Even though I wasnt born until 1971, this recording to me is the Holy Grail of Rock music. This is it folks!!! Long live Elvis, Scotty, Bill and Sam Phillips.

  • that's amazing to have all of those sun records of elvis!!!

    are they originals of copies.

i would kill for an elvis presleys first sun record, that's all right

  • RaisedOnElvis. This is all original pressings. Thanks for visiting and supporting my site.

    L.S.M.

  • If you want one you can bid on one at ebay/ look up elvis sun # 209 45 record

  • they are expensive!

  • you don't say ... lol

  • So cool. Just send them all to me!

  • Mr dippercat ill alsoo think if im not all wrong that the song "thats then your heartaches begin" was on the same in 1953.

  • This was NOT Elvis first Sun Recording. He went to Sun in 1953 and cut a cheap acetate of "My Happiness", allegegly for his mother. Sam Phillips allegedly kept looking for a white boy who could sing black and Sam's secretary suggested the boy who had come in and recorded

"My Happiness". Sam never tracked Elvis down but Elvis came back to Sun, and the rest, as they say, is history.

  • Hmm, it's a little creepy, but it's always good to hear It's Allright. It's so hard to believe all this happened almost before I was even born. I feel like I witnessed it all, I'm so engrossed in him.

  • Interesting video, thanks for sharing. I had to watch this several times!

  • i sell the five sun orig with 3 push marks(the proof of original)all framed for $7000 contact me.

  • I bet you still have 'em. ; )

  • Not forgeting the trail off details, as they was repressed in 1973, with the pushmarks on the first 4 records to.

  • Beautiful... All 5... Where on earth do you get these??? I swear I have gone through every record bin in Longview and haven't seen a single sun label let alone anywhere within 5 miles... Anyways thanks for posting this, I love rockablilly and everything associated with it.

  • you should give the record a good cleaning

but for folks who remember vinyl from the 80's or later, you need to know that older vinyl was heavier and thicker and more durable.

  • Excellent!

  • neat! i don't think anyone can truely grasp the magic of elvis presley without listening to the sun recordings where it was more spurr of the moment type of recordings

  • I actually have an LP record of Johnny Cash on the Sun label. When my grandfather died, I disposed of his collection but kept this and a few others. Is it a big deal? I think it's still out in the garage in the back of the 1951 pickup.

  • Is it a big deal? It's history. Don't let it go!

  • You should bring that record in your house where the temperature doesn't get too high or damp. Value depends greatly on if it's from the original Memphis label or if it's the later Shelby Singleton owned Nashville label.

  • Wow, I'm jealous of your collection. :)

  • you people dont have to worry about the needles on his player. because your were probably thinking of the scratchy sound, well thats the record and only the record since i have a vanila ice record and its somthing like 16 years old and it has been treated poorly and even been laying in a box outside in over ayear with snow and crap, and this record is 50 years old and has probably been treated nice so its almost the same result. sad but true

  • hi fred thanks for sending the video, it was very interesting

    jacqui

  • Howdy shivermytimber! You can be completely sure that i'm knowing how to treat records and there is no burned down needles in my turntables. Thanx for visiting and supporting my site.

    best L.S.M.

  • Please Dude dont make them any worse or for God sakes find new needles. Theres not many left.

  • Please TAPE them and stop useing them !!!!

  • Shivermytimber,

It was worth playing this time to make this digital video which will last forever!

  • The person that owns the records, OWNS THEM! Geez, if he/she wants to play them or use them as Frisbee's, it is nobody's business. Just thank the person that posted/shared and move on...get a life.

  • elvis is born to rock* the king of music " great

  • #209 #210 #215 #217 and #223 And the last four 45's as spareparts.That was seriously a pretty fun comment LOL :-D

Thnx for visiting and supporting my site

    best L.S.M.

  • i will take any of those spare elvis sun 45s

  • Voice in beginning is Bob Neal, deejay at WMPS in Memphis and Elvis early manager at Sun Records.

  • Thanks. I just assumed.

  • That was Sam Philips, right?? Great vid!!!
