Zipper never cared about cheaters, and took some marching orders from Sony while infusing what they wanted in SOCOM from 2002-2006. Come SOCOM 4, there's nothing left. I'm interested in EVE, but afraid I'll end up like the South Park kids on that WoW raid. I have more faith in CCP, an unknown to me, than I have in Zipper, in which I've known for years.

I think FPS is good on consoles. I mean, what about Halo? It was on PC too but it was better on console. Sure you can be more accurate with the mouse, but movement and agility is better on consoles. Also, consoles were designed solely for games, but PCs were designed primarily for business.
I don't think a PC port would be possible for a stable environment. If they did release it on the PC, the EVE fanbase would be divided and the economy would flop, resulting in the ruin of both games. Sorry guys =/
@ploothable That's not a bad thing, and it doesn't necessarily mean development is coming along poorly.. The problem with most modern games is that there isn't any time given to development. That's why they, more often than not, come out broken and require patching to resolve minor issues that could have been realized over a longer course of development. Kinda like how Christopher Nolan spent 10 years making Inception.
I would much prefer pointing and clicking in a game such as EVE, not a first-person shooter. But of course TF2 is just one example of a good PC FPS. Yes, I realize you use the keyboard for an array of things.
But I feel more at home wrapping my hands around a controller and marveling in its simplicity. On a keyboard you have to remember hotkeys, and the D-Keys are just so... unattractive for an FPS in my opinion.
I haven't heard much news about this game lately, though.

Console players change their games so much and quick I can see most of these mercenaries deserting objectives, missions and planets and leaving PC players pissed off. I can see many many problems stem from this...especially when owning planets is a HUGE part of EVE gameplay. Not only that console players don't like to 'pay' for gameplay as much as PC players.

Says the person who can't walk slowly without a modifier button. Mice work great for aiming, but analogue sticks are much more practical for just about everything else. The one big exception is RTS or RPGs like EvE with lots of clicking.
Also, fighting games originally had up, down, left, right and punch/kick buttons. I'm fairly sure you can find something similar on your keyboard. Much more practical for fighters than analogue sticks and ABXY.
Strafing / Aiming / Tracking are the most important actions in FPS gameplay. The mouse is the tool these actions are supposed to be performed with. This can be proven simply by spectating a pro PC FPS player, and a "pro" console one, on the same game. The best console gameplay is limited to what a low-skilled PC player can perform, in 1 week into the game.

The real FPS competition is on PC. Quake and Promod. This is where the skilled players are.

It'll come to PC either before or after release. They're not dumb enough to keep it away from the PC indefinitely. Considering that most console players have never heard of EVE, and all EVE players who're interested in Dust right now are PC players, it's sort of an obvious move for them to make eventually, even if not right away.
I think that this is the single most greatest idea for an expansion that i have heard of, and could possibly set the bar for all mmo's to come. Though i hope that there is big interaction between the two games. And it should come out for pc lol

I've been mainly a console gamer myself since the days of the sega genesis but it's impossible to deny that a properly build PC sets gaming to a whole level that consoles can only achieve several years after it's already been there. I would much rather prefer playing shooters on a console because I'm much more used to the feeling of a controller for movement but there are certain game genres that the same can be said about the pc.

latency is especially more important in an FPS than eve where it's all hidden away in all the delays from your commands,
so the matchmaking will have to be based on latency like any console fps, meaning interaction with all players is not possible in the way they describe,

Wow major fail... it sounds like they arent really connected at all and they are just making a FPS on a console that is in the eve world. All i can see from this is possibly news updates in eve saying whats going on at such and such planet. FPS games are far better with a mouse and keyboard anyway. @7Kiymaira7 Mouse/keyboard vs controller, I'd own you all day long. It's what you're used it, but it's not better. Played many an FPS on the 360 and most have aim assistance, something not needed on the PC due to the precision of the control system.

I used to play EVE and it is an incredible game, and it has a very intriguing and unique universe, but the $15 subscription fee was a little much. I am a huge fan of FPSs so this game is like a godsend. It will be awesome to play my type of game in this universe, and I have some friends who still play EVE, so I'll be able to help them out with my actions. :)

Not bringing this to PC is a good decision. They are targeting a different audience with Dust514. I am impressed with what CCP did in the last several years. They have proven to be the best game developer of today, and boy, they have huge balls for trying to make this happen.

Says the person who can't walk slowly without a modifier button. Mice work great for aiming, but analogue sticks are much more practical for just about everything else. The one big exception is RTS or RPGs like EvE with lots of clicking.
Also, fighting games originally had up, down, left, right and punch/kick buttons. I'm fairly sure you can find something similar on your keyboard. Much more practical for fighters than analogue sticks and ABXY.

Like... what? Name 2 things.
Strafing / Aiming / Tracking are the most important actions in FPS gameplay. The mouse is the tool these actions are supposed to be performed with. This can be proven simply by spectating a pro PC FPS player, and a "pro" console one, on the same game. The best console gameplay is limited to what a low-skilled PC player can perform, in 1 week into the game.

People who miss the real gameplay of a real FPS game. The're also people who paid money, and thus the only reason FPS genre exists on consoles. Games like Halo are gimmicks. COD is a PC game that got sold on consoles also, simply because millions of retarded kids would buy it.
The real FPS competition is on PC. Quake and Promod. This is where the skilled players are.

It'll come to PC either before or after release. They're not dumb enough to keep it away from the PC indefinitely. Considering that most console players have never heard of EVE, and all EVE players who're interested in Dust right now are PC players, it's sort of an obvious move for them to make eventually, even if not right away.

I think that this is the single most greatest idea for an expansion that i have heard of, and could possibly set the bar for all mmo's to come. Though i hope that there is big interaction between the two games. And it should come out for pc lol

@resongo93 I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I've been mainly a console gamer myself since the days of the sega genesis but it's impossible to deny that a properly build PC sets gaming to a whole level that consoles can only achieve several years after it's already been there. I would much rather prefer playing shooters on a console because I'm much more used to the feeling of a controller for movement but there are certain game genres that the same can be said about the pc.

and guys...this won't be so good. Think about it. MAG has just enough action. In places..not enough. This game has less players. (64 max?) the maps look huge. MAG struggles with its current graphics and physics. So you either have more action (Add more players, make smaller maps - small maps not cool) and reduce graphics/gameplay elements.Or do the opposite.
Either way, Were going to have things chopped off thanks to it being on console. We can't have both worlds =( cept on PC

all these concepts are great sure but i'm not entirely convinced the the technology is there yet for it to be how ccp says it will be.
latency is especially more important in an FPS than eve where it's all hidden away in all the delays from your commands,
so the matchmaking will have to be based on latency like any console fps, meaning interaction with all players is not possible in the way they describe,
of course i will be facinated too see ccp take on this challange, they are damn clever

Wow major fail... it sounds like they arent really connected at all and they are just making a FPS on a console that is in the eve world. All i can see from this is possibly news updates in eve saying whats going on at such and such planet. FPS games are far better with a mouse and keyboard anyway. Good idea CCP but executed in possibly the stupidest way imaginable.

@7Kiymaira7 Mouse/keyboard vs controller, I'd own you all day long. It's what you're used it, but it's not better. Played many an FPS on the 360 and most have aim assistance, something not needed on the PC due to the precision of the control system.
I also agree with nonusedname, it does sound they play on the FPS, then it tells those in EVE what happened. It's bollox imo.

@vandal2k6 well, its great that CCP isn't going to stop because of your opinion and others like it. its as simple as don't play the game if you don't like it. Its not 'Bullocks' at all. The depth of this game, and the depth that is going to be added in the future is going to be unmatched. Btw Keyboard/Mouse is way easier than Console. and the Style of play that Console gives BECAUSE it is played with a controller makes it more challenging and therefore, better. Just saying. I'm not trolling =]

I used to play EVE and it is an incredible game, and it has a very intriguing and unique universe, but the $15 subscription fee was a little much. I am a huge fan of FPSs so this game is like a godsend. It will be awesome to play my type of game in this universe, and I have some friends who still play EVE, so I'll be able to help them out with my actions. :)

Not bringing this to PC is a good decision. They are targeting a different audience with Dust514. I am impressed with what CCP did in the last several years. They have proven to be the best game developer of today, and boy, they have huge balls for trying to make this happen.

CCP is taking things so much further than the standard for recycled crap these days. Finally a type a gameplay I like with the tactics and decisions that make things important that I also like.
