  • Wow, that's so cool. I want to make one! Be sure to subscribe to my channel for ukulele tutorials!

  • @ukulelelearner

Search for "Altoids Ukulele" to see another one of my creations.

  • @ragtagbag dude u got a make a tutorial i wanna know how to make this and this is pretty cool by the way can we find ALTOIDS mint anywhere in the worlds i mean do they ship everywhere

  • Don't see the point of disliking this or stuff like this. Musical purists, I guess - morons. Cool stuff

  • How did you make it, can you make a video for it.

  • You could make an Altoids amplifier to go with your Altoids guitar! :D

  • I clicked on the link but there was no altoids guitar there, Where are they? I been wanting one for months now.

  • @deathslice60

Sorry. I ran out of instruments. I removed the link from the description. But, if you search for "Win the Altoids Ukulele!" on YouTube, there is a chance to win one.

  • @ragtagbag

I see ok thank you very much so you never going to make any more instruments or improve them or anything like that anymore?

  • @deathslice60

I actually have a lot of instruments that I'm working on. They will be featured on my new "CircuitsAndStrings" YouTube channel. I meant to say that I ran out of Altoids guitars for sale on Etsy. I might make more in the future.

  • @ragtagbag

  • Perfect for the blues.

"Ohhh, I got a sore throat, and all my Altoids're gone..

Ohhh-whooa, I got a sore throat, and all my Altoids're gone...

I had to eat 'em all to make my gee-tar, so I could play this song..."

  • Put a floyd rose on that one!

  • MAKE A TUTORIAL!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Really like it.

  • Can you please tell me the exact steps to make it? Ca I attach any strings thet I want?

  • @laughandshoot2

Search for the video entitled "DIY Altoids Guitar Build".

It is an okay video. It shows the major steps. He doesn't pay much attention to correctly spacing the frets.

You can use any strings that you'd like (nylon or metal).

  • Where can you find the buzzer? And does it have the wires attached?

  • @laughandshoot2

The buzzer comes with the wires. I got this one at radio shack.

  • @ragtagbag how did you get that crappy buzzer to work?! i tried the same buzzer on a project of mine and it sucked lol also i tried to make a guitar from an altoid can and it sucked also. i was somewhat successful at my first homemade instrument that i made from a coolwhip container and a dowel rod with one string. i could never recreate that for some reason nor make it better.

  • @mully2point0

For the type of piezo buzzers that you get at radio shack, I've found that it helps if the hole in the top is covered with something (like a piece of electrical tape).

Also, a cheap piezo setup isn't going to sound awesome, but if you get some sound to the amp, then you have a small victory.

  • If i made one of these would i be able to make a tune on it although i cant play real guitar?

  • Hi, I am planning to make one of these and I have a quick question for you. How did you know where exactly to put the frets? Keep up the good work!

  • @starwars2078

When I made this one, I used a concert ukulele (15 in. scale) that I had. If you have access to a ukulele or mandolin, you could use one those as a guide when you place the frets. Another option is to use a fret calculator and a ruler. I used this method for a "frying pan ukulele" I built (I have a video of that on my channel as well). I determined the scale I want in inches, converted that to millimeters and then used "fretcalc stewmac" (search on google) .

  • @starwars2078

I then used a ruler (with a millimeter scale) to mark where I needed the frets. It's a little imprecise, but my 12 inch scale frying pan ukulele has pretty good intonation. When marking where to put the frets, may the most attention to the "nut to fret" measurement. That way all of the frets have a chance of being close. good luck!

  • @starwars2078 got to stewmacDOTcom and find their fret calculator and simply type in the distance from the nut to the bridge and the numbe of frets you want and it will give you correct measurements for good intonation

  • @starwars2078

i agree i would be stuck on that too XD

  • I can't think of a lot of things that look less fun to play...

  • @fkdjsa

That is a very erudite statement. It perfectly fits the timbre of the finely crafted videos that you have uploaded.

  • Its a lot of fun to play...

  • You should make a strap out of those candy necklaces!

  • How much would t cost to make or buy one?

  • @Leader509

Check out my Etsy store. The link is in the video description.

  • Can you send me the price?

  • @mrripstikboy12

  • @cvo1997

    I emailed you.

  • ang galing mo do ;-)

  • ragtagbag: i'd like to purchase one of these if you're making them: please contact.

  • @MrFavoritechild

I replied to the direct message you sent.

  • To make frets for like a standard guitar scale, would I just measure the frets on my fender and use that distance? If not how should I space them

  • @ianisthebestiful

That would work. Just make sure that the distance from the nut to the bridge is the same as on the guitar. Also, make sure to get the fret slots as accurate as possible. If they are off, the intonation will be wrong. good luck!

  • @MrQwambe

    The neck is 1/2" thick.

  • what r the specs for that?

  • @sfdecker3

The scale length (the distance between the nut and the bridge) is 15 inches. What other specs would you like to know?

  • @ragtagbag none thank you.

  • Great stuff!!!!

  • get a slide and it will sound awesome

  • what kind of strings did u use?????????

  • what strings did u use?

  • cool

  • this is bomb!! good job!

  • how did you fret the neck?

i made one too with 4 strings with a 13.6" neck scale (soprano ukulele) but is un fretted and i need help...

    any help is appreciated

  • @mark3229

I bought some fret wire online. Once you have some of that, it is simply a matter of taking a small saw and carefully cutting grooves exactly where you want the frets to be. Then, you take a hammer and pound the fret wire into the grooves. If you have another soprano ukulele laying around, that is a helpful guide as to where the frets should be. Putting the frets at the right place is the key to good intonation.

  • looks like a dulcimer neck

  • amusing, but isn't this a step, or four, backwards?

  • Sweet!! It looks like a blast to play! What kind of strings do you use?

  • Nice going man this is the first one I've seen that's actually tuned, nice little jam at the end there too xD

  • Really?!

  • cool
