great looking open-back and fantastic skills, i'm just starting and you made me feel a little bit stupid...thanks for the help though, i'm gonna try this on the 4th o' July
This may be the first banjo song I ever do.... I'm going to work on it and will do a video response... even if I ... crash and burn :) Great lesson, thanks.
Im going to buckle down and learn this. Something I noticed in your video with the other guy, you pinch a couple strings at one point. Which strings are they and exactly when do you do that? I
Would you mind posting an instructional video for banjo on Old Home Place? I really really want to learn that song. Also, thanks for this video, it really helped me learn wagon wheel ^^
I like the fact that you're not in a rush. You really helped me man. You have a nice voice. I tried it in G after hearing you sing. Now I'm playing and singing together for my first time (ditched my capo). Thanks for posting, very helpful. Thanks - Kent
Thanks SO MUCH! I love this song and it's one of the reasons I've started learning banjo. I've only done clawhammer so far but I'm gonna try this out. Really appreciate it! Great voice, too.
Good video. How long you been playing banjo? youre pretty good. I just got a banjo and dont know of any place to get lessons so im pretty much learning from guys like you (internet stuff, mainly videos)
what kidna banjo is that? im going to buy a banjo and i want to know what u got. cause ur a monster. so message me back please. or anyone else that knows the exact brand and model type hes got
Man, This video is great, and I'm glad you threw it up on youtube. Unfortunately my banjo pretty much imploded last night. I'll just fave this and save it for later. Thank ya in advance and once I get a new banjo I'll see about making a video response.
You should do more tutorials. Very few people who do make them make them as clear and straight forward as you.
I'd also like to say that is a Beautiful instrument! I said "Wow!" out loud when I saw the tuning head.
great video this helped me alot! Idk if this helps at all but some other people who do tutorials online name the strings at the begining of the video from like 1 to 5 or 5 to 1. That could help to eliminate the confusion with which string is which, although i didnt have a hard time understanding at all.
You have no idea how awesome this video is. My friend and I have a cover of this song on youtube, but without the banjo part. I'm soon going to play the banjo part and record a new video. Check out our cover though if you want, I played the violin parts on harmonica and added in a couple riffs.
thanks a lot, man. I've had a banjo for almost a year now, never picked it up until a couple weeks ago. No idea how to play a thing, this helped me out a lot. Great Job - Zach
"Recovering Leo Kottke player" and "The string closest to the ground", had to laugh but I can relate. I'm still "recovering" from the first time I heard Leo about 35 years ago. Great tutorial by the way. Thanks for posting.
Ok. Cool beans. Now show us Red Molly!
