You should do more tutorials. Very few people who do make them make them as clear and straight forward as you.

I'd also like to say that is a Beautiful instrument! I said "Wow!" out loud when I saw the tuning head.

  • Thank you sir.

  • what is a good banjo for this kind of music

also what banjo dose old crow medicine show use.

  • alright alright!

  • "recovering Leo Kottke player" Ha!

  • @chastd I thought he said Little League Hockey. HA! :) Good stuff either way.

  • great video this helped me alot! Idk if this helps at all but some other people who do tutorials online name the strings at the begining of the video from like 1 to 5 or 5 to 1. That could help to eliminate the confusion with which string is which, although i didnt have a hard time understanding at all.

    Awesome vid 5/5 stars.

  • Kid, i gotta thank you. haha, youve helped me a ton and i thank ya greatly.

keep it up, man! maybe ill see ya on Texas City Limits ona these days.

  • thank you so much man that was well understood i had been looking for this tab forever

  • That was an excellent break down of the song for the banjo. I just got my first one a few weeks ago. I'll see if I can learn this. Thanks again!

    Once again, many thanks. STP

  • You have no idea how awesome this video is. My friend and I have a cover of this song on youtube, but without the banjo part. I'm soon going to play the banjo part and record a new video. Check out our cover though if you want, I played the violin parts on harmonica and added in a couple riffs.

  • by far the most helpful video on youtube. thanks a lot!

  • Thanks alot man, I really picked this song up easily, you did a great instructional

  • Hey whats the fingering for the strumming you did at the end?

  • you look realy tired :)

  • thanks a lot, man. I've had a banjo for almost a year now, never picked it up until a couple weeks ago. No idea how to play a thing, this helped me out a lot. Great Job - Zach

  • "Recovering Leo Kottke player" and "The string closest to the ground", had to laugh but I can relate. I'm still "recovering" from the first time I heard Leo about 35 years ago. Great tutorial by the way. Thanks for posting.
