hey i have a chihauhua i know its lame my mom wanted i chihuahua i wanted a german shepard but do any one know can i train a chihuahua to be a protective dog im sick of ppl abusing him and hes not doing anything about it

@nfbrotherhoodnf well you can actually train a chihuahua to protect himself and your family first he has to know that your gonna protect him second he has to know you love him for him to protect you and third to train a chihuahua to guard you have to and "NO" deni teach him to be 60% aggresive

NEVER beat a dog with a stick for ANY reason; You said to bring the dog to the park, and have your friend hit it with a stick; that is a good way to get the Humane society up your ass! that is cruel & abusive; not to mention taht whatever friend you use in this set up will get attacked by your dog everytime he comes over. you are saddening.

@bboyelite1 well if yr heart is set on training it for that use then i can tell u how to do it no guranty with that type of dog but if just got a guard dog breed it would be easyer but this dogs r good hunting dogs and r good pet and loyal and have been know to stand against anything so its a good dog anyway

@beastyboy108 u got to bring u and yr frends to the park make your frend beat the dog with a stick the dog will get agressive and mad then make a shhh sound whenever its making a agressive gesture then when it figures out shh mean be agressive give it food when it attacks on command its learn shh means attack then use a sleeve and make your frend get attack by the dog with the sleeve then make then beat the dog with a stick when its attacking so it can understand weapons and bring them done

labs can't do this things...nice work with that dog ...rott's are exellent guard dogs but I still dont get how do you first teach them this command at the first time

@elidio54 u got to bring a frend with u to the park make your frend hit the dog with a stick while u got it on the lead the dog will soon get up set keep jerking it forward then it will get aggressive make a shh sound when it makes a agressive gesture then give it a piece of food keep doing ti until it learns shh mean attack . then release it of the lead and wil attack your frend . then make your frend wack it with the stick it and give out hes had with the stick should learn to attack weapons

my german shepherd is 4 months and i've been training him 3 times a week about an hour a day. He's able to to do the following on command: sit, shake, speak, rollover, heel, stay, laydown. Starting this off with him this weekend.
