Nice, but tempo is a little faster than I used to play it, I always compare it to eating slowly and enjoying your food, same with music, Requiem beauty the same. Play slower and enjoy the beautiful harmony that Faure gave to us.
2:46 onwards is amazing, and love the cadence at 3:07 and the forte that follows! ITS SOO emotional, I just love it, love the guy.. i want to meet him, amazing french late 1800s guy, i remember singing this with the school
@napoleonkid5402 It depends on whether you are singing in the Franco-Latin, Italiacised-Latin or Anglicised-Latin. I personally change it depending on the composer and his/her intentions.
We (The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus) are performing this entire piece and i am so in love with it, its so complex and just wonderful.. and Agnus Dei is perhaps my favorite movement.
Well, whichever one you prefer, they are both masterpieces. I feel so grateful that these genii lived, and others like them, and passed their eternal legacy on to mankind.
nice orchestra. The choir should try to be as accurate and clear in intonation. The 'lux aeterna'-part is only enjoyable if it perfectly in tune, which isn't the case here. However, the orchestral conclusion is magnificent.
Ahh, this is one of my favorite movements of the Faure Requiem. My A Capella choir sang the entire thing in a concert last night... It was great. I love the alto parts.
awkwardbarry... I absolutely agree with you. I'm doing this song with my choir and every time that part comes up I just can't help but tune out everything else and listen to just the instrunments. Once, one of my friends thought I was about to faint because I was so zoned in.
Beautiful sublime stuff with so much spiritual quality, a requiem to rank alongside those of Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, Rutter. Merci for posting this, Agatamaz. sd goh (malaysia)

Is the Requiem the middle section? I've not played it.

@Zanite No, but the Agnus Dei makes a little reprise of the first movement (around 3:27).

i adore this piece so much, but this version is just far too fast! the repeating motif is something to be savoured, not rushed imho
tair001 2 years ago 5
Agreed.
Also 3:00-3:10 is the climax of the entire Requiem, and the tenors really have to let their line rip.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
When I first hear the introduction, I thought the same thing. I play this on the organ once in a while at a slower pace.

I want to buried to this. So beautiful. I love the repeated motif at the beginning, and how thed piece returns to it

Thank you, this is PRECISELY how I feel about this piece.
I wish to be married to Nat "King" Cole's "When I Fall In Love," and buried to the Fauré Requiem.

I performed this in my school choir for a Christmas concert this week...
I found that he didn't really like alto's that much, there's not a lot for them to sing
we had to sing a lot of the tenor part
I think it's amazing - it's really grown on me :D
LoonyLucyMilly 3 years ago
it was originally written for a boys choir on top of them men, that is why the alto part is not very involved
KyoKun22 3 years ago 2

I had alot of fun singing tenor though :D
