  • I would have liked to see the clip from the movie "Glenn Miller Story", with Jimmy Stewart playing Glenn Miller. 'Tuxedo Junction' was on a back-drop with the scene to the movie - 2 dancers male/female - screened while the band played the tune & it was recorded on 'disc'. Great music. Thank you WW2 for posting.

  • In 1994 I saw on tv a documentary of Glenn as he conducted this piece. Goddammned, why isn't it on youtube?

  • Was he a white Miles Davis.

  • I take it that none you you people watched the biography of Glenn Miller. It's a true story if you read the inserts in the cd jackets of Glenn just about everything that was said in both are true. Try watching the movie first Jimmy Stewart plays Glenn and June Allison plays his wife. Just watch the movie first before conterdicting something that someone says. I'M NOT CONTERDICTING ANYONE HERE. I just like the movie no matter how many times I watched it.

  • Might do a 2 trumpet duet of this :) - question and answer style with some chords and crescendos! Nice tune

  • It sounded different to anything, and 70 years later it's still...Great forever

  • we are playing this song at school (i play trombone) and i have to say, it is an amazing song

  • oh this is simply such a divine piece of music... makes me want to grab a partner and start a millitary 2 step!!!

  • Not only a decorated officer in the Army from THE greatest generation who gave freely of his life for his country but also gave us enduring music of such class and sophistication. Talk about a man of substance. I've always been proud to be the son of a WW2 veteran, hearing this music only reinforces my pride in men like my father and Glen Miller.

  • @tripleheshy Lol Joining the army was compulsary back then

  • @FacePalmOverdrive You forgot one thing genius, Miller VOLUNTEERED to stay longer so he could raise moral by playing for his buddies. A little research goes a long way my friend. "compulsary"????? LOL try "compulsory".

  • Haha... I remember playing this song in middle school jazz band... of course, it wasn't the exact piece, much more simpler :P

  • The original recording of ''Tuxedo Junction'' by Glenn Miller hit number one on the charts the first week in May 1940 and held the number one position for nine consecutive weeks.

  • It's NOT been forgotten...just underappreciated!

This song is awesome, by far my fave my Miller.

  • I love jazz. Its such a shame its been all forgotten. And also that I was born too late in history to ever see a real Big Band play

  • Glenn Miller is far from forgotten.

  • Jazz is not forgotten, and will probably and hopefully never be.

Most of the old jazz legends from the 20s and 30s may be dead, but there are still many 'real' big bands around.

    Don't you worry...

  • Classic! This song is always amazing

  • doesnt even need lyrics :)

  • you just can't go wrong with Glenn Miller music-anyone who doesn't like it must be a robot.... :) God bless!

  • Go Army ! !

  • This is his Airforce Band rendition. I have the collection.

  • Sweet! Our jazz band played this song this year! I had that trumpet solo in the beginning, the one that was harmoned. Awesome song. SWING RULES!

  • TRUMPET POWER!!!

  • I'm not a big band scholar but there's something exceptional about the music. When I was a teen 30 years ago I had a glenn miller album and it stood against pop music. It still does.

  • @kristell9

I'm 20 and it already stands against pop music ; )

  • @antonin31 For me it beats pop and blows rap out of the mud that it belongs in.

  • @kristell9 Isn't it especially this very piece? It stands out because of this severe and angry theme. This is not just pop music anymore, it is close to chamber music with an expression similar to Bruckner's.

  • And a special salute to Glenn, who died serving his country. A true hero.

  • whenever i hear this music it almost brings a tear to the eye thinking of a once great era and people nearly forgotten. of men and women who sacrificed everything so we could live in a free society. i can never thank them enough.

  • We oldies are lucky that Utube is around so we can enjoy all over again this fantastic music of the " greatest era". Thank you.

  • sublime!!!!!!!

  • It's great music.

  • 1:45 the saxophone starts too early :D

  • Great song, but this is not the original recording.

  • GREAT MUSIC THIS IS, Thanks for posting this super video.... it's very appreciated by Glenn's fans

  • where has all the great jazz music gone? Sexy!!!

  • that´s what I call cool music.

    music whith attitude.

  • wooooooot!!!!!!!

  • Impresionante!
