  • wtg. Don't even pay any attention to the haters out there. My 22 month old is reading sentences also. It is nice to see other parents investing in their children as well.

  • I can't understand him at all :(

  • Of course this boy is "really reading!" All young children can read if given the opportunity, big kudos to the parents for taking the time!!! And well done to this little sweetie.

  • @mikathemighty Like my bro.bb

  • began reading properly, but a little bit more slower. We must not mistake a child's memorizing capacity to reading, it may seem like they are reading. Try giving him a brand new book, he may be much slower.

  • @neveremailme Agreed. I'm sure if they gave him a new book he would not be able to "read" it. I have seen many young children memorize a book before!

  • @neveremailme Agreed. I'm sure if they gave him a new book he would not be able to "read" it. I have seen many young children memorize a book before! It sounds like he doesn't really even know the words, he is imitating the sounds that he has heard read to him.

  • No offense, but my child began reading for real at 3. When she was 2 years and 3 months old, she began "reading", but actually we realized she memorized the arrangement of words instead of reading. So if you purposely rearrange the spelling of "friend" to "freidn" she still recognizes it as "friend" and missing vowels are also not a prob. From the way this boy is reading, he is more vomiting the recognized words because u probably have made him read that book more than twice. But at 3, she ...

  • Just because he is capable of reading at the age of 2 years old doesn't mean he is genius. I have a seen many young children who can speak fluently and logically and but when they are old enough to go to high school or college, they are no different than the average student

  • Haha, whats this....Chinese!!!

  • is this legit|?

  • I have I.Q of 105, that puts me about what could be called A grade material in America. It's extreamly rare, but it's hard to belive the average is only 100 when I seem to shine out above everyone I meet. Don't belive these idiots who say they have anything higher than 110(which in school would be very intelligent, the sort of person who can do mathamatics or solve riddles instantly): You're not going to see a guy with 170 i.q wasting his time on youtube, and that puts the genius in porportion.

  • @Trollz0Be0Trollin 105 is a rare I.Q in America?at my school where i'm in ninth grade that's the average btw i'm from the caribbean not the U.S

  • @Ipwnu2death268 105 is around 123 on a mensa scale and just over 130 on an average scale.

  • Test

  • I also can say that the kid at age 2 or close to 3, can remember memories of happy life or bad life not all but few, say 2-4 times. Its possible for kids. I can remember my very first kindergarten and there was a boy who always chewed gums, but his gums got taken away by teachers. Also they always put me first to sleep in the crib bed before others. There were green apples by the back of the building, i used to eat them. Now i don't, i hate bitter stuffs.

  • @proudestdad has he read this book before, or memorized it?

  • lol it looks like he's reading out loud Japanese to me. True.

  • I can read way I mean WAY faster than this.

  • @Nugwrangler I would hope so.

  • Why didnt you jsut say 2... Saying 28 months just maked him seem younger than he really is

  • Proud parents are often blinded. Your child is not a genius, if you read to any child when they are a baby they will soon learn to read themselves. My parents read to me when I was a baby and I could read by the time I was two, as well as write my name and some simple words. And I am not a genius I'm just normal :P

  • @jrm33lover me too o__o. I also could draw some things better than other kids at the age of 3. Such as tree with many leaves, flowers, grass, etc. =] but it didn't mean i wasn't a genius or anything. I was just normal kid that liked to learn new things xD. Its good to teach children to read at such young age. Write and count. Motivate them to learn new things, and make them understand why its important. By the time they are a 1st grader, they will be a straight A student.

  • What a Nice video! he reminds me of my son who's also unable to read. Sorry to bring this up but your beautiful child isn't reading at all, Just making noises. I feel as if you are somewhat disillusioned by saying he's a Genius. further more you state that Eric has just turned 2, the title clearly reads 28 months - by my maths that's two and one third years of age, hardly "just turned". Amazing how middle classed parents feel pressured into this belief, nonetheless he's no doubt a great Kid! .

  • @MrPeterHoney He's not making noises, he's reading.of course it's not perfect language, he's a toddler.

  • what is he saying ?

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing!!!

    God bless ur child! (:

  • thats not a genius

  • absolutely amazing!!!!

  • You've read 1100 books with him, that has nothing to do with someone being a genius, it's called repetitive learning. I learned reading on my own when I was 4, my parents didn't encourage me, I learned English when I was 6 by watching television and reading the Swedish translation. My IQ is 167, and I'm 11.

  • @K4inan you are 11? why then does your profile say you are 24?

  • Cute video, click on my name to read some more, from an author

  • maybe you guys should read him more than one book lmao

  • LOL @ genius! He is very sweet though.

  • gifted but you can't say he is a genius=) he might be but i highly doubt it=P

  • how many times has this book been read to him.that is th e secret folks

  • so? i learnt @ two and a half. wait,he's just 2...aahhhh! he beat me! waaah....

but my writing sucked,i learnt 2 write properly @ five

  • You guys have to learn the diference between "gifted", and "genius".

  • uhm, "mild genius" is marked commonly at the 130 IQ-range. this woman's voice is very similar to my mom's btw, but I guess many women has the same sort of voice, I've noticed.

  • he's very smart and cute

  • All kinds of kids develop skills at different times. I think you son is a sweetie and so very bright. It's not the only marker of a smart child. That's not the point. Is the child happy and engaged in life? looks like it to me.

  • aw so cute lol and holy crap

  • soo cute:)!!

  • awwh, he would be an excellent audio book narrator,

  • lol

  • dude speach is just not physically develloped, ur apparantly not the smartest. unlike this kid..

    gj kid

  • wow, teach him how to talk. AT LEAST

  • Maybe he can read, just too bad he can't talk.

  • thats so awesome, i want him to read a book for me, as a audiobook.

  • to thou9009: You are right.

  • maybe he just know this book so well...

    I´ve seen like this.

  • childhood.

  • Well, I was unable to read untill school. But its make me any stupider? No, I begin read to such speeds and hard books, like 1 class student reading 9 class astronomy book, but sadly. My fathers didint support this, like writing, painting and etc... Then its was important to me...

Now abaut girl. Like noticed: here are several types of brains. Ones works normaly only, then you have over 22 years (Einstein) and begin to be corious for knowalgde only later (Thomas Edisonas), some evovle at

  • I hope you are talking about Lithuanian, because your English isn't the best example...

  • i was reading fourth grade material at sixteen months so none of you shouldn't even be talking

  • And even now, your grammar is about that of a fourth grader.

  • lol

  • Goes to show that early reading does not make one a genius. Also, there is some evidence that early reading might be bad for brain development (and I'm not just referring to your post)...This is discussed in "The Hurried Child".

  • Or maybe contrary to that, brain development might be bad for early reading ;-)

  • Of course its bad, he may be reading, but there are other things that he isn't developing because of the reading, things that are way more important to a kid his age.

  • You must be a public school teacher.. bah!

  • my brother read a book when he was younger than that doesnt make him a genius

  • Have you ever taken into account that parents aren't exactly MODEST about their children? All parent, even if the kid is autistic, the parents think the kid is a genius.

  • which is a good thing, because if the parents thought the kid was useless then he would have no confidence

  • he probably just memorized the book. thats what i did when i was little. i could read an entire book about iguanas because it was read to me so much.

  • I am a very good reader with comprehension and reading skills that fall into the "gifted" category. I took the SAT and now I'm getting an award getting above-average scores in reading and writing. I'm very happy I took the test, even if the math makes my brain hurt. (Math is not my strong suit!) But the reading and writing sections were... easy. 0_o Which is kind of weird, because I was only 12 when I took the test.

That boy is learning very fast, though! He's going to do very well in school.

  • He's not necessarily AMAZING. I was reading at almost two and I was reading second grade material. Just be sure to get him in the best program possible if he actually turns out to be gifted. It's very important. My parents declined our township's gifted programs because they thought I wasn't emotionally and socially ready. I slipped through the cracks. Don't let him do the same.

  • ripped u unintelligent piece of shit

  • @clambii i really have the same thing!

  • @clambii you and me both brother, sucks to feel your gifted in something but being too poor, ever see that episode of the simpsons?

  • you have fear

  • I learned to read

  • Dude, I learned to read before that.

I'm no genius. Just very verbal.

  • i learned to read before icould hold an actual conversation ant 1 1/2 years old this is definitely possible dont doubt people just because you couldnt accomplish what they did

  • I use to have that book. It was one of my favs

  • yeah her finger is on top of the words and this GENIUS reads right through her finger. Ill bet he cant read anything but he just repeats words like a parrot.

  • Nah, kids can learn to read that early. My little sister did; she's gifted, but not actually a genius. She just has a talent for it.

  • yea kids can learn to read that young i did and my daughter

  • there are kids this age who memorize and can read whole holy books...like the koran.....its amazing.....these children are amazing....

  • please gimme a break the mother read it 100000 times and he is just repeating what she said. I bet if I gave him a book he wouldnt be able to read shit

  • my sister could do something like that, like she knew words, and could read them, but not that big words.

  • They could have easily learned him that text by heart... Besides, a lot of children could learn this with the proper training. I learned reading at age 4 by myself, and I'm certainly no genius.

  • i pwned that XD i could do that too tho that's pretty good.. i did it without that singing so my parents tell me and that i remember..

  • It is quite normal, children do remember the text what others utter and they also remember pictures then correlate them - they actually do not read them but speak what they have remembered

  • this would be awesome if i could undestand him!!

  • right there with ya salsa. im glad im not the only one that just heres muttering and screeching!!!!

  • My kid grew laser beam cannons out of his eyeballs. Beat that.

  • Loool !

  • LOL!

  • Chill out guys, he is obviously a very bright child and if you claim that yours is smarter then

so be it, good for you. There is no need to criticize or put him and his parents down. Picking fights shows that you're more immature than the infant himself.

    Congrats on the kid :)

  • I agree. I think it's wonderful that this kid can do all this.

  • Its a shame your using your son as a tool. Otherwise this would be impressive.

  • memorized

  • o ya well my kid was reading in the womb. and he could talk.

  • Mine graduated fourth grade while he was a fetus.

  • uhhuh

  • post a video once he learns how to speak

  • My 24 month old has memorized 4 to 5 books she wants to read over and over again. She has memorized what the words are on the pages and tricks people all the time that she is reading by flipping throw the book and reciting it as she goes.

  • that's really creepy and really cool.

  • I've read Mein Kampf and stuff when I was still in my mom's belly!

  • My son was reading at 20 months.

  • I really don't like parents who make videos like this and then upload them to show them, like in a circus or something... but! in these parents defense i have to say it is a "special" thing what this child does.

Maybe he just memorized the words, and it doesn't mean he is a genius, but you can't say "this is so normal".

Now, when your son says "you keep reading", you keep reading and give him a break.

Stop being "so proud" of your sons inteligence, and be parents that he can be later proud of.

  • I agree about the circus thing. But sometimes that is the only interesting thing going on in their lives to show. Raising kids is not exactly glamorous, and you spend so much time with them that you get excited when they do something cool (instead of the normal stuff like mess things up, cry, and go to the bathroom, haha...).

  • I can't understand what he is saying, so therefore I don't feel it is reading. JMO. My daughter, at 2, could memorize books. It's not that she is smart and can read, she just has a very good memory.

  • Do u feel your kid seems to be younger when u say 28 months instead of saying 2 year old baby. haha funny..

  • sounds like a bunch of babble to me. Why does every parent think their kid is the cutest kid on earth and, of course, a genius.

  • when you have kids, you'll know

  • This is a joke right? Me and my brother could read too when we were 28 months old. Only we read much clearer then him. That's not a genius.

  • Child Genius - 28 month old reading - no

  • These are crystal child supersmart and you guys should respect them, they are coming to save the world

  • What is wrong with these people on here berating his parents for valuing education. This child is 28 MONTHS OLD AND READING!!!! There is nothing negative about it. This is simply awesome!

  • I could be wrong. But i would say the parents are pushing him way to hard. If that's the case it's sad, because those children wind up having severe social disorders.

PLEASE PARENTS DO NOT OVER LOAD YOUR KIDS AT AN EARLY AGE. FOR SOME PARENTS IT'S A VERY VERY SELFISH THING TO DO, BECAUSE THEY ARE USUALLY DOING IT FOR THEIR OWN SELFISH REASONS AND NOT FOR THE CHILD.

  • dvs1572,

Yes, you're wrong. Listen to the child. His tone is light and happy. This comes naturally to him. Notice NO coaching from the parents.

  • Einstein didn't even speak until he was 4.. so much for your "genius" thoery.

  • idk if you know this but albert einstein at a young age was mentally retarded, he was like autistic i think.

  • Different children develop differently. Some walk faster, some read faster, and some become fussy early. Remember, life is a journey, not a destination.

  • Haha, Einstein was by NO means retarded. He was merely in deep thought for a large quantity of his childhood, leading to a remarkable mental competence. No negativity to this kid though, he's already a child prodigy.

  • Please do not overuse the delicate word "Genius".

  • omg thats amazing!!!!most 2 year olds can barley talk!!!hes gonna be a total genious when he grows up!!!i can tell he is reading but it sort of sounds lik a differnt language but i can understand some parts but still thats amazing for a 2 year old!

  • The genius of man is his ability to make the complicated simple.

  • the genius of a man is the ability to see things in a totally different aspect than the vernacular concept. any one can become genius through self taught and discipline. anything someone else brain can do you can do trough determination.

  • this is beautiful. people should teach their children so that they have asteady foundation for being successful in the future.

  • I wish people could encourage their children to reach their potential without poeple accusing them of turning their kid into a disfunctional genius. I appluad the mother in this video

  • Spending time with your young child and teaching them to read is a great thing! At this age learning is very fun and doing anything with you mom or dad is very fun. Children have more potentiall than what adults usually assume they do. Parents who push their kids too much should feel ashame, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with teaching your kid that reading and learning is very fun.

  • Don't forget to let him a be a little kid.

  • Wow :O

  • obviously you dont know what a genius is. like what nicunurse1 said, being able to do what eric is doing, is common for kids. to put it in other words, some parents would think that their child has a learning disability when their kids learn slower compared to those of the same age. however, they fail to comprehand that all kids have different stages when it comes to being " a smart kid". you can check up on a experiment done by derren brown on youtube.

  • My little brother did the smae thing as well as several kids I know and at younger ages. The doctors/teachers says its mostly memorization of books they have had read to them. Some kids can do it after hearing it once others take more time. It is a sign of intelligence, but isnt a sign of genius.

  • And renember; there are plenty of geniuses pushing brooms in this world. Make sure your son isn't one of them.

  • Because they are so damaged by the fear, scorn, hatred, and repression of people who do not care to try to understand them. Please, stay away from children. Any child with any unusual interest or talent would be destroyed by a person like you.

  • I wouldn't pressure him to be gifted. I am not saying that he isn't, but parents who push their children too far to see something they want to see, even if it's not there can seriously damage the child. And spending so much time with him will cripple him emotionally - he might be a genius but he might have absolutely no idea on social communication.

Stop making him read books and throw him in the real world. I'm sure you'd rather him be a functional average person then a dysfunctional genius.

  • "Pressure him to be gifted?" What a bitter, jealous comment. If it makes you feel better to think that anyone whose kid develops in any way faster than your own is "hurting" their kids, fine. But it just makes you pathetic.

Their reading to him and being good parents was in no was sufficient, but it was necessary to his precocity. He is clearly having a fun time--and parents of smart kids deserve to brag, too.

  • yh well i was riding a bike at the age of 2 weeks, and at 2 months old i was doing perfect butterfly across the english channel

  • Awsome!

  • great job.

  • I could draw stick figures when I was two.. People wouldn't consider that genius, but really, how many two year-olds can draw comprehendable pictures of their family? I could. I never got into reading and such but I excel in science and as you would expect I can draw very well.

  • Hey!!! I learned to read at 2 also!!! Get him writing at 3, and he'll thank you later LOL

  • I cant believe ppl are flaming this vid. Who cares if he's reading a small book, it is still VERY impressive. And it is easy to SAY you were reading when you were 1 and a half, but really, could you? HES TWO YEARS OLD! YOU PPL ARE TRYING TO MAKE A TWO YEAR OLD KID LOOK BAD! GET OVER YOURSELVES!

  • well, some people are just pathetic. no helping it

  • You've got a reincarnated Rennaissance man!

That's wonderful that you're feeding him knowledge!:) Hope you've checked with an opthamologist.

  • Oh, let up. These parents are bursting with joy and pride, and their son is advanced for his age. Let them have their joy.

  • ok i could read when i was like 1 and a half..i was talking at 6 months..am i a genius too???

  • And besides, I can't understand what he is saying. Or what the words are. He could just be babbling in useless prattle. I know a lot of two year olds that sit down with a book and start babbling.

  • lets see him read a long novel

  • wow. mashal allah. god pless him. he is very cute and smart.he need alot of care. take care of him.

  • I could read in the womb. bwahahahah

  • 1. i could read not good but i could read when i was 2.

2.my brother could read when i was 1 and like 8-12 months old.

    3. Einstain colden't talk before he' was 6-7.

  • Your child is good at 2, but check this child at 3 who's doing a lot more.

  • I could read at that age as well...

  • i could read when i was two, but it was just that i memorized how words looked instead of sounding them out. i still do it to this day, it makes me a fast reader, but i can't pronounce words i've never seen before.

  • Your boy probably is hyperlexic, doesnt mean that he HAS autism as some of the comments say. But if it turns out he is autistic, i wouldnt be surprised. Autism is a spectrum disorder, so you can have just a 'tiny bit' or a whole lot and obviously this child is very bright. i have a question for the proud dad: why have you not answered any of the questions or acknowledged any comments on here? Its actually kind of rude and suggests that you put this vid up just for compliments.

  • I totally agree with everything you've just said. Don't put up the video if you don't want to have any part in the commentary!

  • No, no, this kid looks like he loves to read. He does this on his own! Thats awesome!

  • I beg everyone to stop using the words 'gifted' and 'genius' This child is not gifted. His parents took every early childhood development step they were supposed to and got a properly developed child. This is where children are SUPPOSED to be at his age. The reason everyone thinks he's amazing is because the average child's brain has not had any chance to develop because of lazy or stupid parenting. I hope one day kids can improve back up to this level.

  • you are so jelaous omg get a life

  • I totally agree. What we have to do is encourage kids. My daughter can read words in three languages and has done so since she was months old. I taught her.

  • your child really is a gifted one. Although some children can read at age 2, I've never seen one that can read as fluidly as your son. Congratulations on having this amazing child.. and good luck with your future.

  • ha i could read when i was 2

  • make sure your kid has social skills when he gets older

  • Please make sure you inform yourself fully about the impact of giftedness. If your child senses that he is only or mostly admired for what feats he can accomplish he may always feel he has to strive for perfection in order to please you! Too much focus in our society lies on accomplishment and competition and far too little on accepting children for who they are.

  • The most important thing you can do for your gifted child is to allow him to be who he wants to be, even if it means he does not want to pursue a prestigious career! Guiding him socially and emotionally will give him a much better chance at a contented life than mere focus on academic abilities!

  • I wish you lots of strength and luck as it is hard to raise a gifted child, especially one as gifted as yours appears to be! He may feel like an outsider in this world very early on which can leave him very lonely. It is not unusual for gifted kids, especially the highly and profoundly gifted ones to become depressed and even suicidal.

  • Yes I agree. What an idiotic and needy parent to put this up on youtube. This is what the word "wanker" was invented for.

  • Tuh.....I can to do that......

  • Bravo! Keep developing your musical and mathematical genius. You might consider home schooling as a viable option when he's older. I did, and you can see from our video why I'm a proud dad too.
