  • Not quite. Maybe closer to the Reddings version. Either way you're a much better bassist than I am. I wish I could post comments in Français, but alas I am a stupid American. What can I say.

  • eres un bobon

  • so no ghost notes?

  • amazingggggg

  • It sounds really good! :D

  • incroyable, vraiment.

ripped it like i never could have, at least not yet... ;)

  • Les claypool covered this song...its actually the reddings.

  • "pas terrible"! franchement il y a 10000000000 de fois pire sur le web!

  • Are you using flats or really dead rounds? You need some new strings, son, but otherwise, great cover and tone.

  • good job guy... Keep up the good work. Claypool is amazing and hard as hell to cover. Kudos for even trying to tackle that monster... peace

  • ur string sound wank lol

  • "good", mmm 1/10 mmmm "7.50" =) some things are fine, some not... xD but nice cover...

  • thats a pretty damn good cover of awakening. good job, keep it up.

  • if i interpret this correctly, he's simply showing what he has gotten down so far, which is pretty darn good considering ive never heard les play it the same way twice. obviously he didnt read this out of a song book so give him his credit.

  • Les didn't even write this song... Its originally by The Reddings.

  • 60%correct. still pretty damn funky

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

  • lower the badd and more treble!!

  • turn down da bass, turn up da treble, and play the right notes

  • j'adore le son de ta basse? t'as quoi comme ampli?

sinon ouai c'est pas mal, a part le timing...continu!!!

  • u must listen , not guessing the notes , heheh keep trying ...

  • average...your rhythm is off at points (especially in the beginning)

  • Not primus man! It's dexter redding! Les plays this, but he didn't write it. Good playing though. Not quite right, but good.

  • Impressive playing, but not very close to the real thing.

  • pas mal mec!!!

t as trouvé ou la partition?

  • wheres the ghost notes bro

  • harmonics? lol i heard some ov demz

  • @leeble611 they all sound like ghost notes like me at this volume

  • those aren't the right notes man your mising alot of mutes....you need to learn how to do mutes

  • Nice bass...

  • man you kick ass

  • the only 2 people Ive seen do this so perfectly is of course Les, and my friend jason. Kudos my friend. Listening is just as and or more important than playing in covering such a thing. Im currently working on the bass solo from the RHCP "Naked in the Rain"....Good stuff! Keep it up!

  • what about dexter redding??

he's the one who created The Awakening back in 1980

  • i guess he's never seen dexter redding

  • Nice job, very clean.

  • Their right, you missed a few, but i have to comment on your Marcus Miller bass! SEXAY! I love that bass, but i would get it in natural, not the sand-gold-type color (or is that olympic white? i dunno)

  • wow

  • yup no muted notes... 3 star

  • you did righteous

  • Love that solo!

  • you're missing the muted notes...

  • Dang, dude, your good. I'm trying to learn it but its kinda hard for me.

  • Great job man.

  • Sounds fantastic, what amp are you playing that through? Has a really lovely thump. Been a Gibson bass player for years, might treat myself to a Fender lol

  • about the rhythm being off... i kinda like.. it's like you added your own style to it. well done.

  • magnifique. c'est tres bon. il a besoin d'un different style. je ne sais pas, mais c'est pas le meme que l'original.

  • sweet fender jazz sound

  • See Video Reponse

  • a lot of the notation was right but your rhythm is completely off for a lot of the song. now knock it off.

  • It is a Marcus Miller signature Fender Jazz.

  • woot woot, congrats.

  • You do a great JOB !! Clapping loud, thanks for putting you stuff on U tube. I started playing guitar at 14, bass since 15, cause the band needed one. I never put it down after that, My 1965 Vox or my 1988 Fender Pre. I am now 56. Gravitated to Primus, because of the bass runs.

  • hell of a job

  • id reccommend buying a music man i have a stingray and the active pickups are loud as hell and its really comfortable to play

  • but buy the dual humbucker model, cuzz the 5 way coil position, allows jazz bass sounds

  • if i wanted a really freakin loud funky bass, what would i be interested in? (just throwing this in here)

  • Is that a Fender Jazz? If so then you have got a classic there

  • that was very worth watching

  • out of all of the versions of this riff that people have posted, this one is definitely the best by far. alot people have complained that its not "completely accurate". but ya know, compare the way he plays it to the way les plays it, i think its pretty dead on. good job.

  • Bass players of the world arise!

  • this sounds like a really clean version of the song. dirty it up man this is supposed to be Les Claypool, slap and pop a lot harder. i should record my brother playing this and send it to you.*im also playing his bass right now* its awesome for the awakening.

  • Very nice playing!

...but I wonder how come it says Primus in the title??

This piece is from The Awakening by The Reddings.

  • The bassplayer from Primus (Les Claypool) did a cover of it. Most people don't even know the original version by the Reddings. :)

  • Awesome, but Les Claypool does the solo in a much more dynamic way.

  • well you also have to take in consideration that that guy is playing it without drums behind it. so therefore, alot of the "dynamic playing" youre talking about is coming from the drums in the background when les plays it.

  • dude nice sounding bass, what are u using and what amp too unless ure not using one

  • Clarity > Speed. A+

  • a little too mellow for me, but well-played.

  • dude he has the same bass as claypool in the solo on another vid, like axact same

  • Not bad, but Les adds a ton of little filler notes. You need to do that in the beginning especially. But like I said, not bad at all!

  • hey not bad, ive played this with my drummer at a show, great one for crowds.

  • hey man great job, better than i can do =)

  • its actually played on a four to the kid above but whatever

  • the beat sounds a bit off in some spots...

not bad, just add a bit more treble to the eq...

  • damn ur good

  • I don't think you played clean. Get the rythms down and it'll be sweet. You just need to learn the correct rythmic execution and timing.

  • he's waaaay better than you'll ever dream of being. pretending to be better doesn't really make you seem cooler

  • Dude, chill out. You act like he was just all-out attacking the guy. It's called "feedback", amazingly enough.

  • This is great! You played very clean!

  • is this fretless? what kind of bass is it?

  • Fender Jazz Bass Marcus Miller signature (white version)

  • Can't you see the frets?

  • i thought that it was a lined fretless, it sounds mellow

it actually sounds like shit turn the treble up

and put in some more fillers

  • it sounds great, what are you on?

  • I use a GT6-B on entry PC line in

  • play it on a 6 string seriously it sounds so much more like it

  • this solo wuz played origenally on the 4 string but he played it a little slow it is ment to be faster and a set of ne strengs wouldent hurt

  • nice bass...keep on practacing...you nailed most of it but parts were sloppy.

  • pretty nice, but ive seen a more complicated version played b4 that was way more technical and cool but very very nice nonetheless

  • way to go dude! find a drummer and do it with an audience!
