  • This particular song is on my ten best ever-rock and roll songs ever recorded. Along with Paronoid by Black Sabbath and The Fixer by Humble Pie among others.

  • why doesn't GSU put the entire show on dvd? Talk about making some $ for the school!!!!

  • 1 of my Fave B52's jams. Crank it up!!

  • my favorite is watching the people dance in front of them.. I gotta meet that guy!

  • @Kidrocksis He'd be at about retirement age now.

  • Memories as kids, dancing alternate-venues. Then. Love them now, still. These late 70s videos, are stunning! Thank you.

  • Saw them last year in Chicago and young and old danced all night, what a perfect evening. Families, young couples and the gay community all dancing and having fun. The B's will always live on!!!

  • This is why they are the World's Greatest Party Band.

  • Holy fuck thank you for uploading these!!!!!!!!

  • Fallin in love all over. Such a great band so much talent and originality!

  • The lyric is " He got his cloven hoof on the clutch " . Also it's " We're really tearin' tar " not " It's really his parents car ". ={

  • one of my fav b-52's songs ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's got his cloven hook on the floorboards!

  • This band defines "hip"...

  • i am actually so surprised by this...it makes all the stuff they did lately so much better

  • Rebel, rebel - I love you. Hug from Rio.

  • Blows my mind that these guys were doing this stuff in 19 frickin' 78.

  • The B-52s don't date. I hate to see old bands hacking round the nostagia circuit but the Bs are every bit as relevant now as when they first walked on stage. They should be knocking out a new album every year for posterity. You're a long time dead guys, don't shift into retirement autopilot yet.

Screw production values, put a mic up and cut a disc in Cindy's garage or something.

  • Very cool. First time I heard this was when Wild Planet came out. Always liked that verse "Don't need no batteries, I got the devil in my car". Their talent really shows through. Fred is so skinny in this video.

  • I also like how Kate plays the bass line on her top keyboard with her left hand while singing backup, what a sweety.

Glad you guys at GSU recorded this, thanks for the footage.

  • This is when they were good; not the 'love shack' days.

Back when they were really original and jammin.

Drumming this song works up a sweat, yeah I was a drummer.

  • I think this is one of their best songs. Love it to pieces.

  • ummmmmmmmmmmm i am REALLY drunk....but i wanted to say TY for the post....i grew up with the B-52's and saw them at the US festival....they rule..and always will...THIS is a fucking AWESOME post..don't deny....52 TY's and 0 No's.......FUCK YEA....lol...not kidding though...this fucking RULES>>>>>>TY

  • Where ya takin' me, Devil?

  • I was wonderin about the chronology of this and Run-Run in a '78 video. Thanks for explaining why..I just love Fred's accent in the introductory line. Sound's so homey, ha ha ha

  • The look cliche now, but at the time this was cutting edge. Thanx.

  • This band is so much better than most anything thats out now. So refreshing to hear them again.

  • Wow kmills74, you were so lucky to part of this. If I only had a time machine.

  • Man, this looks fun as hell.

  • i inspired this song in 79

  • i inveted this in 1979 sharing my encounter with some friends of the band in athens i just had an acid trip and was driving my 69 mach 1

  • this video its so great!!! thanks this is unique. the B52s with ricky in the guitar... the sound is brutal

  • does anyone think they sound ridiculously like X ??

  • @TheFacelessK -- Fabulous point. I would have never made the connection, because X is so punk and I think of these guys as so 'new wave'.

  • "Ouch, I'm sittin on his tail" and "I don't need no batteries". My fav lines.

    Killer dance number!

  • I'LL GET YOU A SATANIC MECHANIC!!! : D

  • He's got his cloven huff on the floor Ha Ha I love this band

  • @kauailove310 Acually, the line is "he's got his cloven huff on the clutch"

  • The Devils in my car-buretor!

  • it's a shame there aren't better shots of Ricky. He's too far left for the still camera angle. RIP bro.

  • There voices are so great!! How can you not smile when you hear these songs?

    "Where you taken me devil?"....

  • I love the girls voices!!! amazing band!!!

  • What a gem! Thanks for posting it.

  • I love seeing them closer to thier punk roots. Much more gritty then the polished image the public is familiar with. What a great band. Thier music will be around just as long as the other greats.

  • a beautiful document, kmills74 thankyou for posting...in england around `80 or `81, the B52s were about as hip a band as you could get. As an 18 year old, I LOVED them. Its a shame that, as Rotatitbabey notes below, many people seem to regard them as some sort of "novelty" band, due to the popularity of love shack, or the lamentable flintstones film theme. A truly innovative band.

  • Fred looks like something out of "Cat on a hot tin roof'. If this is from 78 then they wrote some of their material that came out on the second album in 78 which didn't come out until 1980 or so. this is amazing. the record industry sucks. you never get it in real time at least not back then. the bands had it rough back then. now the corporation sells you good or bad.

  • Thank you for posting these! Is this on a DVD we can purchase. This is great stuff! And is the producer the main man from the band LUCE?

  • totally, underrated band. People only know them from Love Shack. These are, the best band, to ever come into this world.

  • @Rotateitbaby I agree. There first 2 albums to me where the best ones. Funny they made the second one first. Wish they had made a video for this song

  • rock & roll hall of fame isnt good enough for these guys-

nobel peace prize all the way

  • @jmm1000 nah they suck. oh yeah! they do too!!

  • So great. It really captures what the B-52's were/are and that is a great party band.

Cindy sounds great for only being about 20 or 21 at the time.

  • Agreed,i saw them in b,ham uk 79 every1 was dancing even tho it was mostly a punk crowd-great song!

  • Ok !!?

  • very good memories come to me. thanks for post it!

  • poooorra, sonzinho do kaaaaaaaramba!!

quem me dera tivesse uma maquina do tempo e pudesse voltar so pra entrar nestas apresentações ao vivo do B-52´s!!!!

eu iria vaaaaaaaarias e vaaaaaaaaarias vezes, sem me cansar!!!

new wave, punk rock som dançante pra caramba!!!

  • I don't want to go to the Devil! LOL! Great stuff.

Great film. I agree the rock and roll hall of fame! This stuff is classic. Love the black and white. I never thought 1978 was so black and white 50ish.

  • impresionante! que banda genial

  • BRILLIANT!!!! Gawd thanks for sharing!

  • brilliant vintage madness. cheers for uploading this.

  • great video! thanks for sharing!

  • Very nice to see this show.

Don't you have unrecorded B-52's song from this concert ?

  • Wow, this arrangement sounds incredibly close to the recorded version on "Wild Planet" that didn't come out until 1980. I wonder why this song wasn't put on their debut album, if this gig happened prior to its release. This is great.

  • before they were signed their live set had songs that would make the 1st 2 albums. One review of the first album was quite dissapointed that this song and a few others weren't included and thought the extended mix of rock lobster was too long to boot!

  • This is unbelievable! :)

  • Thank you so much! Rock-n-roll Hall of fame next!!!!
