this song describes my life so perfectly it's scary. I grew up in a Christian home. I know all about Jesus and what he did for me and I always have known. But it didnt stop me from ignoring it, rebelling and just blocking everything out for a while. I was quiet and angry and hearbroken and I had nothing left to cling to. And my family couldn't see it because I continued to play the part. But I woke up one day. I realized that Jesus was what I needed to cling to and I finally found peace.
oh i just love this song. X3 my friend and i were litening to this in the car when we just started singing, it was so funny because it was halloween, so there were people walking around wearing costumes during the day and we had our window down and we were singing realy loud! some poeple laught while others pointed, but some people were yelling "don't listen to them, keep singing!" and "i love that song!" and i heard from one guy "reilent k forever!" so we stopped the car and yelled "YA!" lol.

Then I started smoking weed and cigarettes, and drinking & partying, not caring about anyone else. It was fun while it lasted, but it wasn't me, and I hated the fact that I lost myself. There should be no such thing as Christian music. You don't walk into a store to see an atheist music section or hindu or buddhist or whatever. So why Christian? Music is music. A good songwriter should write about what he believes. So atheists don't write songs about God, but Relient K writes songs from a Christian viewpoint. But this song isn't about God. It's about changing the person you are for the better, whether it's for a religious purpose or not.
i don't have to be from mexico to like tacos and i don't have to be a christian to enjoy christian music (i'm an atheist and relient k is my favorite band)

@tidwellish i was going for a soul eater like, the guy who wants to get attention from his enime reminds me of crona, and the girl is maka, crona never got any friends because he was evil, and he has a keishin of black blood in him that uturns black blood into a sword (wich means he hides in it) and the maka in one episode "black blood", she had these blue wings (like an angel) i got the idea all from my fav character crona. ACTUALLY, if you really think about it, this song has EVERYTHING to do with religion. He is apologizing to God about the things he did and how he wishes he never did it. He heard the steps of God and he knew that unless he had a change of heart that resulted in a change of direction, he would fall apart and never be able to change. That second chance he mentions is the second chance of salvation.
I have heard this guy explain it before. Christian song and Christian band.

"Who I am hates who I've been" is realizing you've done wrong(Sinned), "I'm Sorry For __" is repenting for those mistakes and finally the most beautiful part of Christianity "Who I am hates who I've been; And who I am will take the second chance You gave me" Gods willingness to forgive us even though we are what he hates Sinful (unpure/unclean). I love this song. It speaks to me because I have recently done a 180 with my life. I used to be the good girl who followed the rules and did what I was supposed to. Then I started smoking weed and cigarettes, and drinking & partying, not caring about anyone else. It was fun while it lasted, but it wasn't me, and I hated the fact that I lost myself. I'm grateful that I was able to quit and get my life where I want it to be.

There should be no such thing as Christian music. You don't walk into a store to see an atheist music section or hindu or buddhist or whatever. So why Christian? Music is music. A good songwriter should write about what he believes. So atheists don't write songs about God, but Relient K writes songs from a Christian viewpoint. But this song isn't about God. It's about changing the person you are for the better, whether it's for a religious purpose or not.
