I think that probably is the looks, a lot of people have beautiful voices but is really hard for people to look at them if they dont have what is required by "masses" as commercial looks, there a lot of good nico nico singer have beautiful voices... but they have to use anime pics for they profile because of that (they wouldnt have so many fans if it wasnt for it)

But I can't deny that they sing very, VERY well
