@StoogeWatcher if it were from the 1985-86 season it would've used the full seven second jingle. My understanding is that WGBH didn't shorten the jingle until the fall of 1986
I'm too young to remember Bob on This Old House but I do remember Steve Thomas. I also remember Norm on his own on The New Yankee Workshop which used to air with This Old House during what was "The This Old House Hour" back then. Does anybody remember the 2000 project where they rebuilt Tom Silva's Brother's house after it burned down?
@IAmNotAFunguy thanks for the info: I forgot that Tom silva's house burned down, thanks for refreshing. Do you remember why it burned down? Also, 2 years ago a tile man from the show had a heart attack at one of the houses and died.
i'm 15, so i'm too young to remember the 1980s PBS logos, but i've seen them on youtube and i love them. especially the PBS Kids P pals logo. the 2000 logo sucks, as do all the logos from the 2000s. im sorry, that's just my opinion.
I love the guy on the left, he is worried it won't last so Bob and Norm explain the process and then he says wow it should last like a hardwood and Norm says "it should" and then this guys says "it will" like he is trying to convince Norm. It sounds funny. He is easily convinced anyway.
Wow I remember watching this episode, 24 years gos by in a hurry. Miss Bob Villa and Norm and the old This Old house, not too crazy about that new guy Tom Silva.
Many a Saturday morning as a child did I hear the "This Old House" theme song coming from the TV in the front room! I always loved to hear that tune, and learned years later that it was 1935 Fats Waller recording entitled "Louisiana Fairytale". Such a beautiful tune, and one of my all-time favorites!
LOL same here, used to watch this show with my pops all the time. We even watched it with my grandmother when we went over her house. Good fucking times man.
The best part in the begining was the WGBH ad with its funky music, I love the way they followed that up with the classical TOH tune.
This is from the 1985-86 season, when the title was temporarily changed to The New This Old House (although the original title is still shown at the end here). All episodes from that season featured the same clips of Bob and Norm on that one job site as the credits rolled.
I watched this show as a kid the 1986 Bob and have changed over the years and so has Tom Silva after Bob left This Old House and Steve Thomas joined The New This Old House in the 1991-1992 season Bob started own show Bob Vila's Home Again that was the only thing i remembered Bob I miss seeing him on This Old House (end of story.)

@jerry736, I think it was a water boiler that exploded. The heart attack man was tile man Joe Ferrente.

While Norn did the real work Bob always had an excuse to not help.
