So I know this is five years old but, I HATE when people saw they hate Pit Bulls or any other "agressive" dog. My uncle bought a pit about four years ago her previous owners tried fighting her and abused her. He now has a two year old daughter that also LOVES that dog. She has never once tried to harm anyone. She growls when people come to the house but she is only protecting HER family. People are now trying to ban them from Michigan. Yeah they can turn on you but so can ANY other animal.

They test hundreds of pit bulls and thousands of rottweilers (litterally!) to get those much ballyhooed pass rates and only tiny (sometimes as few as 10 to 15) numbers of other breeds. They test according to population of the breed. Therefore if they are a largely bred breed such as the American Pit bull Terrier, there are more dogs to test.

I have a 2 year old American, Red Nose mix pitbull and he's the greatest dog i've ever had. He's more tolerant than any other dog i've ever seen. I've recently moved to a small town that has no pitbull ordinance. But today i found out that the city is trying to ban them. I'm not really sure what to do but i can't sit back and let ignorant people force me to choose between relocating or keeping my dog. So i have to fight it somehow. when my dad had a heart attack he was playing with my lil brother and our pit mick and was dead when the ambulance took him from the house he was in the hospital for 3 months due to brain damage my pit was there & seen this happen and just layed around and stopped eating and died 8 days later due to broken heart the hospital said we could bring the dog up to boost dads mood and help mick till we told the hospital he was pit the hospital changed there mind

In my neighbourhood there have been 2 attacks by pit-bulls in the past few weeks. In the first case two pit-bulls attacked a small girl walking her retriever puppy. The girl dropped her puppy in fear, which was subsequently torn apart by the pit-bulls. In the second case, an elderly woman was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a pit-bull while gardening in her own yard

i've owned animals all my life, in fact my family used to run a kennel (not a puppy mill) when i was a kid. i currently own an APBT mix & he's not my first. none of my animals have ever had extensive, breed specific training. they know the traditional commands of sit, stay, etc. but that's it. they DON'T need special training just b/c of breed. i'm not 12 & even if i was, age doesn't determine how long a person will want a certain pet. that was a very age biased, unfair, & non truthful comment.
Most APBT resources that is not overflowed with pictures of them with toddlers and kittens, stress the importance of proper and plentiful training and socializations of these dogs. And yes, that goes quite a bit beyond the traditional sit and stay commands and taking the doggie out on an occasional walk. The public security problem this breed has represented the last decades is not primary caused by the dogfigthing scapegoat. It's caused by owners who choose this powerful........
.........and volatile breed, and then not following it through with insufficient and wrong training. And in addition often fails to take precautions and use common sense handling them. The owner absolutely has to establish himself as the alpha member. Problem is that many of the "good" owners barely know the inns and out's of this, given that they actually know what it means. all dogs r potential maimers. does that mean that no 12 year olds should own any dogs? the kid's age doesn't matter as long as he knows how to take care of the animal. bully breeds don't need special training, they need love. nearly 50 pit bulls were taken from Michael Vick's property & out of those 50 dogs only 1 had to be euthanized due to aggression issues. these dogs were trained to fight & now all but that 1 have either found loving homes or r in the process of being rehabilitated.
The slight difference here is that if the twelve year old get that golden retriever instead someone is likely to end with a couple of puncture wounds if/when things go wrong. A dominating and poorly raised pit bull is a very tenacious dog that might or might not send that someone straight to the emercency department - or worse. Pit bulls are not recommended for the average Fido owner type, let alone a kid who might lose interest for the dog after some time..........

Vicks 47 dogs were fortunate enough to be celebrities and prestige objectives, with huge resources used to basically reprogram them. The waist majority of the pit bulls overflowing the shelters in thousands by thousands are not. They are routinely euthanized, and for good reasons.

Oh please. If I renember correctly Presa Canarios and the Dogo Argitinos scored even higher than than the Pit Bull. The Tosa breed scored 100% pass rate. In genral breeds wirh a guarding/fighting background topped the list. Do some bells start to ring here? Those who claim this temperament test is a "proof" that Pitbulls are "safer" than the average Fido, do not know or care abaut what they actually test, how they do it, or which segment of dog handlers that tend to take this type of test.
The problems with Pit bulls (and a few others breed) are not that they are more bad tempered and inclined to attack than the average Fido. It is when they first do that, they are by far more determined and more likely to go send their victims to the emergency department or graveyard. Combine that with a lot of dubious breeding and all the morons of one kind or another that tend to own them theese days and you have a recipe for disaster.
i never once said that bully breeds were at the very top of the list. what i said was that they scored better than the typical dogs that most people think r harmless. my point is that no dog is born violent, they r trained to be that way. any dog can be trained to fight, just like any dog can be trained to be calm and gentle. it's the owners responsibility to properly raise their dog so that they r not violent. violence has nothing to do with breed, it has everything to do with stupidity.

whn i was 14..i asked my mom for a pit and she said the same thing. SO, i did lots and lots of research, showed her videos, even took her to a friends house to meet his Pit Bull. Eventually she gave in, especially whn i visited a Vet and I knew more about the APBT than he did. Education is key, both for you and her, the more your mom knows, the better she'll feel about getting you a Pit

The public needs to be better educated about Pit Bulls they are loyal,and trust worthy pets. What's sad is even when the dogs have been abused they continue to love and want to please. I miss mine she has been gone almost four weeks, I kept her collar and her favorite toys, she loved to play and sit in my lap. I have three small grand kids and she loved them too, she loved my cats.

So I know this is five years old but, I HATE when people saw they hate Pit Bulls or any other "agressive" dog. My uncle bought a pit about four years ago her previous owners tried fighting her and abused her. He now has a two year old daughter that also LOVES that dog. She has never once tried to harm anyone. She growls when people come to the house but she is only protecting HER family. People are now trying to ban them from Michigan. Yeah they can turn on you but so can ANY other animal.

Pacifica, CA — Police investigating the fatal mauling of a pregnant Pacifica woman by her pet pit bull say they DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE ANIMAL TO GO OFF.
A necropsy on the 2 y/o pitbull, Gunner, did not turn up any disease or condition that would explain the Aug. 11 attack. The dog was also apparently TREATED LIKE A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY and HAD NO HISTORY OF VIOLENCE.

The so-called American temperament test society is a joke with a patent bias towards pit bulls and other dangerous breeds. They're about as fair and balanced as FOX news! They test hundreds of pit bulls and thousands of rottweilers (litterally!) to get those much ballyhooed pass rates and only tiny (sometimes as few as 10 to 15) numbers of other breeds. Bottom line? Pit bulls are WONDERFUL dogs! Unfortunately, all too often they pay the price with their lives because they're owned by stupid, irresponsible owners. First and foremost--spay/neuter your pit! Second---socialize your pit! Third---take your pit to obedience school! Fourth---your pit should be a part of your family, NOT chained alone in your back yard! There ARE other issues Pit owners need to be aware of. I have a 2 year old American, Red Nose mix pitbull and he's the greatest dog i've ever had. He's more tolerant than any other dog i've ever seen. I've recently moved to a small town that has no pitbull ordinance. But today i found out that the city is trying to ban them. I'm not really sure what to do but i can't sit back and let ignorant people force me to choose between relocating or keeping my dog. So i have to fight it somehow. this video is absolutely disgusting. any dog can be vicious. yeah maybe pits have a bad rep but they're very rarely given a chance. they're used and abused. do that to a human being and see what happens. sometimes there isn't anything you can do. when a pitbull attacks nobody looks to see what the dog was put through before. they euthanize them and wash their hands of it. if someone did to you, what was done in to thep pits in the pictures, wouldn't you fight back?

when my dad had a heart attack he was playing with my lil brother and our pit mick and was dead when the ambulance took him from the house he was in the hospital for 3 months due to brain damage my pit was there & seen this happen and just layed around and stopped eating and died 8 days later due to broken heart the hospital said we could bring the dog up to boost dads mood and help mick till we told the hospital he was pit the hospital changed there mind

In my neighbourhood there have been 2 attacks by pit-bulls in the past few weeks. In the first case two pit-bulls attacked a small girl walking her retriever puppy. The girl dropped her puppy in fear, which was subsequently torn apart by the pit-bulls. In the second case, an elderly woman was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a pit-bull while gardening in her own yard

r ur eyes brown? cos ur so full of shit they oughta be. i found my dog abandoned in a park when he was 1 1/2 weeks old. i saved his life, fed him from a bottle every 4 hours for 6 weeks, taught him how to go to the bathroom, i became his mom. u know what else i taught him? i taught him love, i taught him to be strong and loyal but kind and gentle. my dog is a wonderful dog and he has had no breed specific training. he's not a vicious killer, he's a dog, he's my best friend.

i've owned animals all my life, in fact my family used to run a kennel (not a puppy mill) when i was a kid. i currently own an APBT mix & he's not my first. none of my animals have ever had extensive, breed specific training. they know the traditional commands of sit, stay, etc. but that's it. they DON'T need special training just b/c of breed. i'm not 12 & even if i was, age doesn't determine how long a person will want a certain pet. that was a very age biased, unfair, & non truthful comment.

Most APBT resources that is not overflowed with pictures of them with toddlers and kittens, stress the importance of proper and plentiful training and socializations of these dogs. And yes, that goes quite a bit beyond the traditional sit and stay commands and taking the doggie out on an occasional walk. As the dog gets older, it takes over the dominant role and when the owner finally smells the coffee, its too late. This occurs with other dominant breeds as well, but a poorly bred and raised APBT can be very dangerous when it attacks. Thats why you hear about a lot of deaths and severe maimings involved with pit bull attacks.

Some restrictions in the breeding and ownership of these dogs; yes. I have had to take out a few Pit bulls as a last resort. But in those unfortunate cases, I never once blamed the dogs for becoming the public safety risks they were. Only their breeders and owners, but taking them out was not an option.

all dogs r potential maimers. does that mean that no 12 year olds should own any dogs? the kid's age doesn't matter as long as he knows how to take care of the animal. bully breeds don't need special training, they need love. nearly 50 pit bulls were taken from Michael Vick's property & out of those 50 dogs only 1 had to be euthanized due to aggression issues. these dogs were trained to fight & now all but that 1 have either found loving homes or r in the process of being rehabilitated.

The slight difference here is that if the twelve year old get that golden retriever instead someone is likely to end with a couple of puncture wounds if/when things go wrong. A dominating and poorly raised pit bull is a very tenacious dog that might or might not send that someone straight to the emercency department - or worse. Pit bulls are not recommended for the average Fido owner type, let alone a kid who might lose interest for the dog after some time..........

You guys are indirectly killing more pit bulls, and cause more human maimings, then the lowlifes that fight them. Vicks 47 dogs were fortunate enough to be celebrities and prestige objectives, with huge resources used to basically reprogram them. The unfortunate side of this that make your statement correct is that most dog bite fatalities occur in very urban enviroments where individuals who own these dogs spend little or no time in socilization and/or training of their dogs. Oh please. If I renember correctly Presa Canarios and the Dogo Argitinos scored even higher than than the Pit Bull. The Tosa breed scored 100% pass rate. In genral breeds wirh a guarding/fighting background topped the list. Do some bells start to ring here? Those who claim this temperament test is a "proof" that Pitbulls are "safer" than the average Fido, do not know or care abaut what they actually test, how they do it, or which segment of dog handlers that tend to take this type of test.

The problems with Pit bulls (and a few others breed) are not that they are more bad tempered and inclined to attack than the average Fido. It is when they first do that, they are by far more determined and more likely to go send their victims to the emergency department or graveyard. i never once said that bully breeds were at the very top of the list. what i said was that they scored better than the typical dogs that most people think r harmless. my point is that no dog is born violent, they r trained to be that way. any dog can be trained to fight, just like any dog can be trained to be calm and gentle. it's the owners responsibility to properly raise their dog so that they r not violent. violence has nothing to do with breed, it has everything to do with stupidity.

This temperament test, if you even can call it that, is very short and predictable, highly superficial measures unprovoked aggression and are heavily tilted against the traits typical found in working dogs. All the dog have to do to pass is to show courage, determination and do not panic. This test is often taken by people who, like yourself, want to show to a placebo safety proof.............

.........their pit-bull is still as potentially unpredictable as the beagle next door, but capable of inflicting far more damage. There are simply not any near the error margins vs. the beagle here. Owners of powerful breeds, especially the ones that once started tend to keep going on, have to fully understand and recognize the risks involved and take precautions. Only God knows how many of the pit owners who know how to break off an attack or are willing to do what might be needed.

whn i was 14..i asked my mom for a pit and she said the same thing. SO, i did lots and lots of research, showed her videos, even took her to a friends house to meet his Pit Bull. Eventually she gave in, especially whn i visited a Vet and I knew more about the APBT than he did. Education is key, both for you and her, the more your mom knows, the better she'll feel about getting you a Pit

Awesome. Thank you so much for showing some of the uneducated folks what these dogs are put through. I love my pit she is the most wonderful dog. Being a responsible pit bull owner keeps the breed from getting a bad reputation.

Pit Bulls are awesome. Camp Bow Wow bans them!!! I went there to board my first Pit Bull and they said it was against the rules!!! I was like sorry I'm not coming anymore and I left (after a few choice words).

BanPitbulls..You know it is terrible that that 5 year old died. She should not have because whoever owned that dog should not have raised it to be that way. Judge a dog individually, not by the breed. If we judge by breed then all breeds should not exist. Any dog can kill someone if raised wrong.

id say there is no other dog in the world better than the pitbull. i have a bully at home and i rescued her from a shelter she used to be as thin as the dogs in this video and she was abused by her old owner as well, but she never showed any sighns of aggresion toward abything or anybody after being through all that misery in her life and i dont know any other dog breeds that can do that

The public needs to be better educated about Pit Bulls they are loyal,and trust worthy pets. What's sad is even when the dogs have been abused they continue to love and want to please. I miss mine she has been gone almost four weeks, I kept her collar and her favorite toys, she loved to play and sit in my lap. I have three small grand kids and she loved them too, she loved my cats.
