  • i have an important question on the book. i have to do a 40 minute presentation on kafka and my main emphasis is going to be on the metamorphosis (spec. the first chapter)... does the time period he wrote it in have a SIGNFICANT influence? cuz for me it doesn't seem like world war I is very important.. or is it? please reply soon i need your expert help

  • i would say though im sure someone could argue it is important the book is more about personal politics and therefore could be set in any time period. however kafka does comment on society at the time in this story.

  • good luck with your presentation

  • it's quite confusing, it has something to do with the motif of the number three in the story and gregor's selfless attitude for his family. the threes are things like him leaving the room three times, the three parts in the story, etc. it's a very weird theory. i have some interesting notes on the story if you'd like me to send them.

btw, have you read the graphic novel version? by peter kuper?

  • sounds interesting, im always up for crazy theories myself. send the notes if you have the time id appreciate it, or if you could post a video that would be ace.

as for the graphic novel i havent seen it but i can see it translating well. aside from the play we didnt really look up much else in this instance, just our thoughts.

    thanks for your input =]

  • have you guys heard the theory about the story's relation to the trinity?

  • no, this is why we ask you guys for your thoughts =]

so yeah whats this trinity stuff?
