Since no one seems to have told you this, you can simply punch fire to stop it, it's not necessary to put a block on it.

Also, you don't find ghasts dangerous because you started in a nice cave where they can't do much damage. Try spawning on a ridge above a lava sea, with 5 ghasts trying to destroy the ground beneath you, then tell me they're not dangerous. Also, they used to light blocks on fire with their explosions - that was scary.

Sword breaks light stone faster than other tools. Also it drops 0-2 dust from my experience. And you need nine light stone dust to make one light stone block. (just fill the crafting bench with the dust.)

Does anyone think this would be cool: A jabba the hut style monster that is extremely slow but does massive damage and it leaves behind those slime balls that slimes drop when it moves. It should only spawn in the nether and it drops 10 slime balls when killed. Thumbs up or down?

I agree that it seems zombie pigmen are more of a threat than ghasts. I think you need to go back to that saferoom and put away the supplies you have so that if you die you know where to find them.

Few tips: zombie pigs tend to travel in groups and will all attack if you attack one, but should eventually forgive you.

If you come across a flaming block, you can just usually hit it and the fire will go out.

You can farm in the neather as long as you have dirt and high light nearby. Water placed in the neather from buckets will vaporize once you place it so wheat farming will be slow.

you don't need a pick or a sword to collect lightstone dust / glowstone dust(official, according to notch and minepedia), they also drop everytime.

Pro tip here and this is a MASSIVE TIP now, trust me or test it yourself, the explosive a ghast shoots is deflectable. (at least with a bow, i haven't tried a sword but if you fire an arrow right at it, it will fly off in the EXACT OPPISITE of the arrows tragectory)

so grab a new bow, fire at the "bomb" and it will fly in the oppisite direction.

PRO IDEA... trap a ghast with a cage w/ window and use the bombs to 'dig' the land!!

the ghasts are more irritating when you have no armor on and accidentaly break a hole in the wall looking outside were a ghast is waiting to blow you up. it shoots at you and find out that the blood/netherstone you stand on is one layer thick over the lava pools

sorv-lightstone is just like glass. you break it instantly with your hand. also no special tool is needed to make them drop lightdust, an if you find that one you have brocken doesn't have dust fall its because it got stuck on another block

I'd suggest using cobble for your base, as Ghasts can't blow it up or light it on fire.

Actually, I think the Ghast is more dangerous than zombie pigs. Just don't attack them, and they won't attack you!

Also, in wide open areas there will be 4 Ghasts shooting at you, destroying all the terrain. They make it almost impossible setting up a base...

Here's some tips:

Just wait, the Pigs will forgive you eventually, also, they can spawn in light and darkness, so they can spawn in your base when you build it, just make sure not to attack one again. (I could be wrong, but I think if you keep killing them like that it resets the forgiveness timer and you have to wait more)
